Mourinho has always liked United (more than Arsenal or Liverpool)
Mourinho all but admitting Rooney will probably stay after that tonight.
Really? You'd be happy for him to play like that all season then leaves in the summer for half a handful of peanuts?
We don't really need the money, and Rooney in that form could easily be the difference in winning the EPL. As I said in my post though I don't think we'll see the Rooney we saw today very often. I still wouldn't have a problem selling him to Chelsea.
Really hope Sparky wasn't there tonightOld trafford united in its desire for Rooney to stay tonight.
Still hope PSG bid £30m for him so we can sell him.
I also thought it was a very average performance for him with a couple of nice moments from him.Thought Rooney was average by his standards to be honest, was good in parts but quite wasteful with his passing in the final 1/3.
Bit late for Mourinho to be respectful.
I can't remember the last time he looked that motivated. It's all well and good that he has this top level, but that doesn't mean anything if he doesn't apply it most of the time.
Someone posted yesterday we wouldn't miss him because Hernandez would score the goals Rooney did. They obviously haven't realised everything else he offers the side from the past 10 years. He might not be in the very top bracket of players, but if anyone thinks we have enough players of his quality to afford losing him, they're bonkers.
A lesser player wouldn't be wanted by Jose in fairness and normally know their place. To be fair, if it were any other player...they'd have gone. But he's just worth too much to United.
How do you know we dont need the money?
And are people really going to accept Wayne Rooney not only leaving, but leaving for about what we paid for Ashley Young, when Rooney's contract has a year left on it? Or on a free the season after?
On top of that he could easily be going to Chelsea then as well. Maybe even City if he so wishes, the timing will be spectacular as RVP will be on a downward turn
What? He's been too isolated today and as a result had no real impact on the game.
I liked his level of commitment (especially considering the whole transfer saga this summer) but, in truth, I was a bit disappointed and frustrated with some of his decision-making today. On more than a few occasions, he made the wrong decision in the final third and especially in the second half.
There was one very clear instance where he took a shot from 30 odd yards when Van Persie had made a great run and space for a ball through in the box, should really have been played in.

BBC Sport's Alan Shearer still can't understand why Rooney started this game.
Well said mate. Well said!Alan Shearer is a fecking dick, just like the rest of the MOTD team
I didn't say I'd accept 20mil, I'd only really accept 40mil or a swap with Mata.
Rooney doesn't want to be here, if we don't sell him now he's going to go very cheap next season or for free the season after. The other alternative is we let him feck the club over again and give him another big contract, which is the last thing I want happening. I'd much rather we stick with players that want to be here.
Honest question, has he and RvP ever played well together? I fail to remember.

He'll still leave, he'll probably still end up at Chelsea and we'd be looking at about the £18 million we overpaid for Young with a year on his deal. Which is a shocker.

They've had those highlight goals (Villa and Cluj) but I don't think they've been a great partnership. IMO, the only two players that Rooney has formed a good partnership with are Hernandez and Saha.Honest question, has he and RvP ever played well together? I fail to remember.
