The not so special one.

Mike Phelan
"Manchester United seem to be playing the long game," he said. "They might as well wait now. Who will they replace Wayne Rooney with? That's the question.
"The ones they had on the radar they don't seem to be able to nail down yet, so I think Wayne Rooney will continue to be a Manchester United player for the not-so-foreseeable future.

"What will happen during the season and going into the next transfer window nobody knows."

He some prick, won't stick in a bid before the game as that's disrespectful then goes off spouting shite?

Muppet
I reckon he knows full well he is never going to get Rooney and probably doesn't even care too much either way. All he wants to do is unsettle Man Utd and try and get three points. I wouldn't be surprised if his interest cools after today

he may never have been in for Rooney. Suspect he is just trying to rattle the new United manager.

Of course he's in for Rooney. Would improve Chelsea's striker situation a lot and grab them an English player, which they'll lack as Terry and Lampard finally leave the club. On top of that he'd be getting an experienced premier league winner. Its a no brainer for Chelsea if they can get him

I agree but the added bonus of unsettling us is also a no brained for him.

the very reason why we would not sell Rooney to them I think. if Rooney continues to sulk, he will destroy his own ability in 2 years. I think once the window closes and he gets in harness, he will play well for us again...of course he would expect a bumper paycheck/ contract.

Hope so

If he's going to start instead of Kagawa or Giggs then he has to put in a disciplined No 10 performance, anything resembling a bull in a china shop should see him subbed.

Apparently the fans are behind him, great to hear.

Is he still smiling?

No idea, I'm just going on what I can see on tv. Currently I'm trying to work out what Jamie Carragher is saying....

Yeah, there's no draw back except... They've missed out on better strikers, singling out Rooney this window. It still works for them but they have to get him. Imagine they dont and have to rely on Torres again, whilst Falcao, Cavani and the rest have moved clubs and were available for the right money

Think it's a very ballsy move by Moyes.

Yesterday didn't think he would. But obviously it looked more likely as the day went on

Regardless of what happens on the pitch now it's the right move. Shows he won't be pressurised or intimidated by Jose, the media or indeed by Wayne.

Score the winner, bow to the fans, kiss Moyes, lick the badge Evra-like and slap yourself and everything will be forgotten.

If Rooney avoids controversy and produces a performance of the required standard it is, if not and it endangers the result or leads to dropped points there will be some culpability.

So i would agree with those saying that it is a brave call, the post-match reaction is likely to operate at extremes.

Quite amazed at the reception Rooney has got - I've been one that wants him to stay and I certainly hope he takes the fans into consideration on the way he behaves/plays.

He's been very very good. Probably our best player along with Vidic and Carrick.

The fact that it's Chelsea we're playing has probably helped with the reception he's got. Booing him would have been beyond retarded tonight.

Still looks a bit rusty, as expected. Certainly giving his all though.

Pretty good so far. I haven't seen wayne rooney run around like that for quite some time. Heck I haven't seen rooney do the nasics like controlling the ball and passing it accurately for some time.

Indeed, he looks a bit sharper than he has done for a while, even if he is still blowing hot and cold tonight.

Indeed, but his pace still seems a bit lost. A couple of years ago he would have gotten past Cahill. Overall though, very promising and I'm positively surprised :)

Started like a mad man. But I thought he faded most likely down to fitness.

Can't see him lasting beyond 60 mins
