He will play against Swansea but I am hoping he picks up another mysterious injury before the Chelsea game, it will be a burden on the team if he plays against Chelsea and Liverpool.

This is the most attention the little no-mark has had. Being quoted on the Caf, and by The Neviller of all people. He's made it.

Next step, getting banned from the twitter thread for being a gonk.

To be honest, that wasn't too far off what I consider a typical Rooney performance these days. On some other days, there may be a goal, on another day, there may be two even. On a very rare day, he'll actually look like a class above everyone else on the pitch, and won't need to score to do so.

That said, as for the most part, that is generally his game we saw out there.

The Neviller effect.

Ah, of course - well, I suppose you could regard it as a bit of charity. You were rather sharpish with the hapless sod, after all.

"Some people can't handle my tweets," he says. And that says a lot. Especially considering he doesn't write his own material. He's the Milli Vanilli of Twatter.

Kind of makes you think we might not see him in a United shirt again doesn't it?

I really could not care less. I say we resist Chavski this summer, let him rot in the reserves til xmas and then flog him to the highest buyer in the new year.

So, that means he will never get fit, because he'll remain unfit as fitter players keep starting ahead of him.

There's only one way to get match fit. Play matches. Why delay getting him match fit? I'm not saying he should start, but the way Moyes addressed the question, it seemed as if he's not even a contender for the bench. How's he going to get match fit by not playing?

I agree, the only way for Rooney to be match fit is to play matches. Problem is United have a tough start to the season and there is no margin for error for Moyes. Swansea A, Chelsea H, Liverpool A, and City A with Palace H in between, is as tough as start United have had in the PL. If United in 4 of 5 those PL matches are fairly comfortable with 2 or 3 goals up with 20 minutes left then I've got no problems bringing him off the bench. But United cannot use the 4 matches to get him up to speed or they will drop points. I think the last 3 tournaments England have qualified for, Rooney for various reasons has not been match fit and it has showed. As the fixture list gets easier, he can be eased in.

His performance was nowhere near as bad as people are making out. Just reaffirmed for me how good his movement is if i'm honest. If he plays up top for anyone this season he's going to score 30+ imo.

Are you serious? There was no good movement from him today. He played as a lone front man and spent most of the time playing 5 yard passes well outside the box. I think he started doing this because his control was letting him down in the box where he came under pressure. He wouldn't have scored if they were still playing now.

He might have done if Scotland still stopped playing at the proper time, though.

Crazy what it's come to. Typically when a player, a very good player, for us is coming back from injury and needs minutes, we are not only thrilled he has a chance to get some match fitness in a meaningless international but, we never care what his performance is like.

Yes. But Rooney is evil. And a liar. He was never injured. He has never been injured in his life - just overweight. It's all black or all white - can't have anything grey in there, it just fuels anger and adds to the confusion.

Hodgson shouldn't have started him in the first place and Rooney not so conceited that he felt he deserved to be at the centre of the limelight. Arguably there is some shared culpability although it can't simply be passed off as Stretford's scheming on this occasion, the player has at least a half share of what occurred at Wembley.

Moreover whilst some of you may see it as a meaningless international the fact remains that England have some pivotal matches coming up and Rooney is not a reliable quantity, he's barely deserving of a minor cameo let alone in excess of an hour on the pitch.

That is what the reserves are for. With the start we have we can't afford passengers.
