No need to quote it, have said the same thing throughout the thread.
It's just that you never make any predictions and you prefer to call people out on theirs, so I thought I'd just preserve this one in the rock of ages.

If the bridges have been burned and there is genuine cause to call Rooney a complete cnut then I don't really see the need to do that. Probably better to cut it off.
For all the reports coming from everywhere it is absolutely all over the place at the moment. The media is falling over themselves to try and get it right and some parts even just throwing shit on the windshield in the hope that it will stick.
The club and Rooney himself know the situation which I think is just bizarre if he stays and the fans don't really get behind him. It will be a bit disappointing to me. I'm not clawing at his zipper to suck him off or anything but the fans always say 'the club is bigger than the player' and it to me works in the opposite favour as well. If he knuckles down and performs and then signs a new deal it will be a very interesting time for the supporters. It has created some genuine division on a non-footballing level among the supporters. Justified? Yeah probably. Toxic for the future? I think so.
If he wants to stay then why doesn't he go on twitter like last year and tell us that. Instead he writes how he is looking forward to playing for England on his facebook
For sure. I think the extension of personal life exposure through social media and connections of that nature have muddied the water. All this acting like a twat ultimately if he performs on the pitch shouldn't mean anything. But there are certainly some people who just think "HE" is a cnut and not the Manchester United player who is close to breaking the all-time scoring record.Ultimately, fans will forgive if he gets down to the task in hand - helping United win trophies. Whether fans ultimately forget his indiscretions is another matter, but ultimately, who cares? I think we are sometimes too idealistic in that we expect maximum player loyalty and an unbreakable bond between players and fans. Being realistic, we should just accept that most footballers are now career-orientated and as long as they're giving 100% when they're playing, that's fine. I am in no doubt that United need to resist the transfer, which they can easily do, and then bring him back into the fold. Rooney is an emotive guy - he can tidy all his toys up as quickly as he throws them out of the pram.

Why does he need to do that?...

There is some quality psychology research in here somewhere though I reckon.
If he has the time to write how he is looking forward to joining up with England. I'm sure he has the time to right how he is looking forward to playing for us. Do you think Chelsea would bid, if he wants to stay?
Not saying this is true. But there is a story going around that Jose and Rooney had a little chat, when we played Madrid in March. Ferguson got hold of it and confronted Rooney about it.

Good quotes from Moyes about it all. Really doesn't sound like a manager who's currently in dispute with a big player. The fact he brought up the reserves business - and being a floating player does really make sense to be fair, and then saying that he's now back with the first team training must be good.
I think the media is making this worse than it actually is. I'm not saying there isn't something fishy going on - but there's a lot on here who seems to lap up anything bad the media says and then have the opinion of "That fecking scumbag Rooney".
I still think Rooney's been pretty respectful during all this - hasn't whored himself to the media, or coming out going against what Moyes has been saying. Rooney-haters seem to ignore that, and take it that Rooney is just being a douche regardless.
I still hope he stays, subject to him actually wanting to stay. I've said it once, and I'll say it again - a United with Rooney is a different animal to a United without Rooney. Countless times this pre-season, occasions came up that made me think "this game is crying out for a Rooney here". If he still wants to go by the end of the transfer window, then fine - let someone panic spend on him. But he's too good of a player to just "feck him, he can go" in an instant. We delayed Ronaldo > Madrid, we can delay this too.
The nail in the coffin would be if he turns out "injured" again after the England game if he walks off fine or doesn't clutch any part of his body after the game. If that happens, then I guess there is something going on - but the amount of utter tosh the media have come up in this saga have been terrible. Don't get sucked into it.
Hope you are right.Certain sections of the media already have Rooney at Chelsea.
Ain't going to happen.
Can you provide a link to Moyes' quotes on this?
As an aside, while I agree Rooney hasn't overtly been a twat in the media, his team of advisers have been briefing the media throughout the summer.
Can you provide a link to Moyes' quotes on this?
Exactly. My point was that a lot of fans will be on Rooney's back even though he himself has kept quiet, because his PR team have been in overdrive the whole time.
Jesus christ.. I opened that article and Shaka started belting on about Jose being embarrassed and ringing the changes for a pre-season fixture signalling his intent...?
Might also have something to do with Fergie also making their conversation public. That was always going to alienate Rooney from the fans. This is really all Rooney can do short of doing a Suarez and giving loads of interviews about wanting to leave which has been worse imo than what Rooney has done. His lot kept quiet until Moyes comments on his role, which they seemed to have jumped on, but have been pretty quiet since then.
It's ESPN, the organisation that thinks this is Sir Alex:
Hope you are right.
Would like Moyes to come about again and re confirm this.
I was talking to someone about this on Friday, and, for me, Fergie didn't need to handle the situation as he did. It was as though he wanted to deliver a parting shot, irrespective of the ramifications. Moyes would never admit it, but I don't reckon he's delighted with how Fergie handled that. You can see as much from the fact that Moyes has sought to completely distance himself from any conversations that Rooney and Fergie had at the back end of last season.
Yeah I've said it earlier in the thread but with the way the summer has gone I don't think we've gained from it going public, it's certainly made it harder for Rooney to stay if we wanted him too and we've not done anything yet to show we don't need him. Still plenty of time left I guess but hard to see who could come in to make up for his loss.
I'm not only giving no shit I'm tired of it. Especially the way the press is handling it. At every press conference all the questions they ask are about Rooney. No one gives a real shit though. I'd much rather heard about news regarding Nani's contract situation, possible transfer targets besides Fabregs, but no. Every freaking question about Wayne Rooney.
It's a bit absurd. But a round-about way of deflecting things though.
Obviously. Pisses me off nevertheless.
It's just so bizarre and crazy the way the media and pressure effects the international performances. If Rooney wasn't an England player, the press probably wouldn't be so obsessed with questions about him.
In books like LOTR people like Gandalf are plot dumps - i.e. you go to them when you're backed into a corner and can't get out. Rooney, while more closely resembling a troll-hobbit hybrid is a press-dump - shifts papers for whatever reason but there you have it.
"Go out and win it for everyone! We're behind you.. But don't feck up. Cause we'll feck you up.. Good luck!"
I'd say the eagles are somewhat the plot dumps in LOTR

Suarez or Bale aren't English and the press are obsessed with them too. I'm sure Brenda and AVB are sick of the same questions too.
Fergie's earned the right to handle any given situation how he likes, but I personally feel the way he called Rooney out was a little self-indulgent, and it's given Moyes more of a mess to clean up than was necessary.
