Class performance. Put in a great shift to help out the midfield, 2 good goals, and looked to create throughout.

Reminded me of one against Fulham on the first day of the 2006/07 season.

Wes Brown overlapped and put in a cross which he scored in a very similar manner.

Actually that's the one that was in my head too but couldn't remember.

Obviously he was fantastic today, he's really superb in the big games in the hole, getting on the ball deep spraying it out to the wings and then getting back in the box late to get on the end of it. He's lethal like that.

Hope todays match winning performance is the start of one of his gluttonous goal scoring runs which lasts well into the new year. He has some goal scoring catching up to do this season!

Has been brilliant since back from that gory cut on his thigh. Playing with full commitment wherever SAF has asked him to play, I've been impressed by his selflessness. In particular, it cant have been easy for him to adjust to accommodate RVP as the main goal scorer and so find a new role from himself.

Was great that he broke yet more Manchester United records today and I think we are all over his wobble. Looks like his mind and body is fully concentrated on the game, the seedy and destabilising factors of 18 months ago gladly in the dustbin.

He is back as our heartbeat and I hope that remains for years to come.

As much as RVP is brilliant Rooney is simply better imo. Great debate to have going on within the team. We ooze ability up top.

Two of the worlds best forwards playing some great football together. They will win us silverware this season.

with his energy, eye for a pass, temperament, ability and willingness to defend, is meant to play his current position/roll. rvp's presence makes this possible (massive signing).

Amazing build up, but he scuffed the shot didn't he?! He was glad of the soft contact, but not sure he intended it!!

I have no difficulty believing a finisher of his quality meant that.

Amazing. RVP will get the headlines, but Rooney won us that game.

His first goal was fecking class, he knew exactly how he was going to finish that and though it was scuffed it was so good Hart had no chance.

He's back in form now and long may that continue. Rooney at this best will always give you the full package. Goals, assists, good workrate and creative passing. In the big games, more often than not, he keeps producing something for us. Seeing him and Van Persie so effective together is exactly what we hoped for.

Please let this be the continuation of a good goalscoring run for him.

Hopefully he keeps up his form over Christmas, great game from him today

Excellent performance. Two very good performances on the bounce now.

RVP is a better striker. Not even a debate for me. His hold up play is better, his movement is better and his finishing is better.

Rooney's better in this slightly more withdrawn role.

Two excellent players, compliment each other well.

I think he meant to hit towards that direction (wrong foot Hart) but he kinda messed up his shot and still scored

Yep, he definitely meant to place it in that side.

Come to think of it, it's not a surprise really because Rooney is a really intelligent player when on form.

But when off form, he is stupid. Just kidding, I agree, but It's funny.

Great game... great clutch goals...

but I was worried about him getting himself sent off in the last 10 mins... I thought Fergie was going to bring him off and if Valencia hadn't gotten hurt, I wonder if he would have.

Good game from Roo. Sure he will push on now. Great to see him score. Was everywhere yesterday. Still wasteful at times but nothing too costly.

Good to see him on the scoresheet again. Had my partner next to me only half watch the game look up at me celebrating the first goal to say "Did that go in, but it was moving so slow."

Very impressed with his footwork and control for the first goal and the shot might have been slightly scuffed, but it was a good goal all the same…WAS GOAL. He is looking like the Rooney we all know he can be and coming at the right time too.

6 goals and 7 assists in 12 premier league appearances now for Wayne. That's an excellent return.

Who in here actually thought he was faster than Aguero? He outpaced him twice yesterday - once without the ball and one with the ball. That was something I didn't think I would see. He looks much fitter now than he has in a good while! Competition up front helping, just as it is with Evra?

Absolutely brilliant yesterday!

This! RVP is the better striker, not sure he is the better player though. Rooney's workrate and what he gives to the team is what sets him apart, not his technical abilities or pace (although he impressed me yesteday).

He was outstanding yesterday, best I've seen him play all season. Did almost everything absolutely perfectly. If he keeps this form up for a couple months, we could open up quite a gap.

He looked brilliant yesterday, fitter than he has been in a long while. The debate about him vs. RvP could be an endless one, and it doesn't really matter as we have both in the team, but I've got to say, seeing so much selflessness from a world class player, so much dedication to the team and such willingness to put the collective effort before his own glory really sets Rooney apart from most players. And yet he still manages to pull off MotM appearances time after time and sublimes all those around him. He's a really unique player, I'm not quite sure we fully appreciate how much.
