Was he in the stands at least today? Did not catch but last 35 min or so

Neil Ashton should be embarrassed about his coverage of the Rooney issue. He's clearly being briefed by Chelsea and is writing stories to curry favour with them. What ever happened to just reporting the actual news that happened, rather than being more P.R. man than journalist?

It's not just him. Rob Beaseley of The Sun, who is a massive Chelsea fan has also behaved like a cnut. So has Richard Keys for that matter.

So the Sun, the Mail and Talksport are terrible? Who would have ever thought it.

I honestly don't know why you people even bother with them. Time and time again links get posted to these shite-peddlers.

 Ashton is being absolutely ripped apart on twitter. How's that Rio piggybacking Rooney business going, Neil?

Lying tosser.

You forgot the Mirror group and Fivelive's Monday Night Club.

Right, I asked my mate about the bin story and this is what I got, paraphrased.

Supposedly, some guys at Chelsea TV who think Ashton is a right idiot fed him this line on Twitter that Loic Remy was having a medical on deadline day at their training ground in Cobham and suggested he go down there at around 10pm and he'd see it for himself and he'd have an exclusive. Needless to say, he turned up and wondered around a bit before security asked him to leave given that it was shut and no-one was there. Ashton was desperate for the story so apparently he just wondered out and then sneaked back in and hid in a bin until the security checked the CCTV and realised he was in there, at which point he was forcibly removed from the premises.

They're all as bad as each other I guess. I just see a link with "dailymail" in the URL and my opinion of that poster goes down a little (I'm sure they will be devastated to hear that!.

It's like someone picking up a fresh dog turd, eating it and then moaning that it tastes horrible.

That is brilliant

Here's Neil Ashton tacitly agreeing with Fergie that Rooney could get more from his talent, one year ago. What changed, Neil?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...low-Lionel-Messis-dedication-Neil-Ashton.html

Dreamy José came back to town.

Also, how did Ashton get such clear-cut details on the group's training session?
They played keep-ball to begin with and Rooney, who has one of the best first touches in world football, was barely interested. He paid the penalty for losing possession more times than any other player, regularly sent into the middle of the circle to chase down the ball and make the interception. It was pitiful.
They went on to work on technique, but Rooney was hardly ticking over as he contemplates handing in an official transfer request. The stand-off is causing divisions at United.
Unless, of course, he just made up a load of old shit.

:lol::lol::lol:

That is beautiful.

If Rooney is allowed to leave Moyes will have pretty much ruined his chance to make it here in my opinion.

I actually think the opposite to an extent.

If the club are the ones who comedown and bow to Rooney's demands (a new contract? a public statement stating he didnt request a transfer? an apology? etc etc) that will set a very dangerous precedent and make look Moyes look weak. If we feck him off for a big fee, or let him rot then I think that'll set the tone perfectly.

Thats fair enough but look at that production lost from the team. The goals and assists and his work rate. Its okay taking the high ground but that will affect the teams performance. I am not a fan of Rooney or his behavior but you cannot sell your best players to one of your immediate title rivals and not expect it to damage you. Moyes has had a lackluster start to his career with mixed results and inactivity in the transfer market. He doesnt need losing a player like Rooneys calibre especially if it seems we are not in a position to buy big in the market.

I do agree with that sentiment. But if we could get big money for him, lets say £50 odd million, even if it was from Chelsea, would that not be acceptable? For a player that has questionable attitude and fitness, who in all likelihood wont flourish once he hits the wrong side of 30, and who already looks a shadow of his former self?....Whether we could get that sort of money for him is a different question, I guess.

Wont get 50 million for him, not going by the rumoured bids. Would also have to be done simultaneously with us going for say Lewandowski or something. Either way Moyes has to do something to give himself momentum going into the season.

You do not think that Hernandez, Welbeck and Kagawa could either in part or entirely make up the shortfall of goals and assists? To say nothing of improved wing play and any midfielder that Moyes might purchase before the end of the window.

Lying tosser.

Indeed.

Along with his journalistic credibility being torn apart he is receiving particular criticism for the "who has one of the best first touches in world football" line.

That sounds almost too good to be true.Trying to emulate his idol Jose perhaps, fitting that he had to settle for a wheelie bin instead of a laundry basket.

Independent: To cast Wayne Rooney as a victim is to insult the real professionals

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...to-insult-the-real-professionals-8755268.html

That surpasses Paul Hayward's article as probably the best actual journalism throughout this saga.

How can you defend the fat cnut now ? Trolling the manager and the club that pays him £1m per month to sit on the bench, and insulting the fans intelligence with his stupid outburst on FB knowing that he kept his mouth shut all summer, providing rumors everyday about his unhappiness and working hard behind the scene to join his mate A.Cole. Well, you can go and feck yourself Mr Rooney, there will no way back for you at United. It doesn't even bother me to think about him playing for Chelsea, I actually think they are made for each other.

Looks like Arsenal are interested again. Would make sense if Liverpool arent going to play ball over Suarez.

Ask Cech. Money does not equal success. At the start of the window we'd have had no problems cutting him loose and buying/assimilating in a new player(s).
Right now it would be suicide and I agree with Ram it would nail Moyes coffin shut if we were to either sell Rooney and have a shit season, keep him from the first team and the same. It to me is turning a 'roll higher than 3' situation into a 'roll 6 to win' scenario.

The bolded part is reaching fantasy levels. You don't get to fourth highest goal scorer in United's history by being a complete charlatan. I think it's towing the line a little bit to far to suggest he's stepped down a level in class and performance on the pitch.

I wonder if it is Coleen that Rooney is really trying to get away from.

Does he really hate Sir Alex that much? How much more can he make at Chelsea and will it be worth the trouble?

We won't know the truth of this situation until long after in my opinion.

Doesn't look likely that well sell him the way things are going. Forget interest from abroad, we don't seem to be in for a top midfielder now and if we don't then ite better to be top heavy like we've been for years and keep hold of that strongpoint.

Would be funny (in an annoying way) if you didn't sell to us because you didn't want to strengthen a rival but then sold to Arsenal.

Yeah, the funny one I'm really holding out for though is for Suarez to get his move to Arsenal to play CL football and then Fenerbache knocking them out in the qualifying.

That would really set me off....

Independent: To cast Wayne Rooney as a victim is to insult the real professionals

Beyond the fantasy world that big-time football has become, Rooney can hardly be seen as a victim. He has created Wayne’s World, no one else. If he is at all wise he will start work on a new one, a real one, while there is a little time left.

Brilliant riposte to those fawning Rooney articles.

Originally I wanted him gone as I'm fed up with him and all the drama that surrounds him. However, that was under the assumption that we would sell him abroad and that we were going to pick up a quality midfielder or two and strengthen the team in general. As is stands, with no midfield additions and the start of the season looming, it's not such a cut and dry situation anymore. I remain hopeful that we are doing lots of negotiating behind the scenes and we will reveal some midfield reinforcements before the end of the window but it seems we are going to start the season with what we have.

I really don't like Rooney and will never like him again, but if nothing else we really can't be strengthening Chelsea's main weakness if we haven't strengthened our own main weakness. Unless at least one really good midfielder comes in we need to keep Rooney, if nothing else to prevent Chelsea from having him.

Roy Hodgson on talksport "At the moment the situation with Wayne is delicate because there is a dispute going on"
