Yeah we heard that joke the first five million times you said it today KM.

It's still infinitely funnier than the Osman/Fellaini to United, United and Fergie hate midfielder jokes that can be found in almost every transfer thread and is posted at least twice everyday so far.

Not the most reliable admittedly.

Point being, any cash bid that isn't a crazy amount should be turned down instantly, we're not in the business of losing one of our best players to strengthen a title rival.

Didn't Ian McGarry used to write for The Sun? I used to read it daily but haven't for years, and if memory serves me correctly he's a big Chelsea fan and is even more full of shit than people on here think i am :D

It's highly doubtful Mata's been included in the offer, don't think Chelsea released that just to keep them happy. If the deal were to go down and Mata included, they'd be a laughing stock after that statement. It's surely just a cash offer, and if it's only 20M, they can do one.

It's possible, intermediaries could have affored them to United.

And our retort with a Mata + 10m rumour is an excellent resposne.

feck, this is really like Football Manager!

Didn't Barcelona try to unsettle Mata a few weeks ago as well?

If only this was the NBA, we could then trade Rooney to Chelsea, Mata to Barca and Cesc would come here. Everyone's happy.

No-one here has a clue what's going on so anyone trying to pretend that United have pulled off some great mind-game coup needs to get a grip.
It's clearly this:
Oh I get it.

Chelsea launch a trivial bid for Rooney, in the hope Rooney demands to leave. Moyes is pissed off by this, so leaks that Chelsea offered Mata or Luiz to unsettle them in return.

Brilliant.

The journalists have actually lost their minds. Debating this bullshit like any of it is actually going to happen.

yes, its very worrying when a journo with credibility like Dickinson starst doing it too.

Aren't journo's meant to apply the '3 source rule' before the confirm and comment on a story?

Twatter is destroying so many institutions!

Rooney is 16/1 to join Chelsea? I'll take that, thank you very much.

EDIT: My mistake, that's to join Chelsea and be top scorer this season.

Obviously referring to RedCafe!

We should get him on here.

Also, if there werent enough advantages to Mata>Luiz, Mata is never getting in the Spanish First XI, which is a plus for us.

If Luiz was a united player, he'd be a hero though. Purely cus hes mental.

Great from the club if they leaked something like this, Chelsea have been a cancer for football, horrible club.

Yes, how dare we challenge the two horse race that the Premier League had become with an owner who actually wanted to invest (quite legally) in the football club.

How dare we try and bid for United players. The impudence.

Correct.

Chelsea bid £20m? That doesn't even fall into the category of an opening gambit in negotiations, simply daft.

 @ Chelsea and Rooney today.

This has been the most entertaining transfer window in an age, from a United perspective. We're in the news everyday. I'm enjoying this.

He didn't invest out of the goodness of his heart, he invested because without a high profile he'd be sleeping in Putin's basement called the Baltic.

It was from sources 'close to Wayne Rooney'. Basically, he's angry and confused at his treatment. Feels he has nothing left to prove, and is at his peak. Has no intention of becoming a "squad player" or playing "second fiddle" to RvP or anybody else.

If you read the quote in it's entirety you see that Moyes didn't place Rooney in a second fiddle role. He mentinones him scoring goals, playing two up top, or even Rooney leading the line. He does say IF RVP goes down Rooney will be his replacement. This isn't news, unless you felt Welbeck or Herenandez could fill that role.

Wayne wants out and is willing to use this as an excuse for being "angry & confused". Point of no return.

If it's just a cash deal, how much are people willing to sell him to Chelsea for? 40m? 50m?

Nothing below £35m for me.
For it to make economical and football sense, Torres money all day long. Any less and we're not gaining anything.

Some of you where saying 40-50 million this is the reality, we will be lucky to get 35 million he's just about worth that currently on the back of last season and there is an element of risk in signing him.

I don't actually see what there is to enjoy here. It's all a bit juvenile and it's not like any of this bullshit is progressive, or is helping to sort out our midfield area. It's unnecessary drama when we actually need to be making constructive steps forward in this transfer window.

As if you're privvy to his motivations. He had a good relationship with Putin. He's an owner with a very active involvement in the club. I spose you were one of the ones who said he'd get bored after a couple of years and leave us in the shit as well?

zzzzzzz........

Some people don't like United having any competition. They'd rather win the league with 120 points with all the best players Celtic style.

You're the worst at tapping up players, it's not just making a bid. Would love the offer to be true.

The thing about Rooney is that he'll want to play and play well wherever he is this season as the World Cup is on the way, with him being English and the prospect of him being back in form trying to impress for the World Cup his marketing value is next to none, especially with him being English.

An inform Rooney is hugely marketable and is something we were missing last season, I don't think we'll sell because of this. If he impresses then we're in poll position to offer him an extension next season, if he does want to leave then we'd have just had a good year out him (a crucial year with it being Moyes' first) and could potentially trigger a bidding war between some of the bigger clubs who don't seem interested this year and if he does have a lacklustre year then it won't be such a problem getting rid.

Doesn't work that way if we don't sale him this year we may have a very furious player and next year would be his last contract year which makes his price very low, like or you let me go to Red Bulls for 10 mil or I just stay here another year making 200k a week and walk free as a bird to Monaco or PSG.

So you're happy when Arsenal strengthen their rivals then?

Yes I'm sure all this is stopping us from making any constructive steps in the transfer window.

Chelsea and their players have been openly tapping up Wayne Rooney in the last month or so, why should the club just let it go quietly?
or do you think that the board is incapable of doing more than one thing at this time.

It's incredible how people tend to link everything with a midfield signing.
