Ahem..

Are these not legitimate questions that make Rooney look bad?

These are legitimate questions that make Rooney look bad, just like your extreme love for Kagawa and how Rooney has been playing in his ideal position most of the time can make me think that you do more than just dislike him. I also have legitimate reasons to think you're biased (like many of us tbh) when it comes to this situation. I'm sure you'll deny but c'est comme ca. Rooney leaving would make you happy as your favorite player (who you think is better than Rooney already) would play in his best position.

The problem being Rooney apparently has decided he wants to be an out and out striker. I can't imagine Rooney won't be complaining again if he isn't used as the main striker or just off the main striker in a majority of the games.

The problem is that he is an out and out striker. Its not his problem that previous gaffers tend to buy strikers and defenders to then try to convert them as CMs.

No player is greater than the team. This has always been my firm belief. That means that I don't give a shit about Kagawa playing in his best position or not. It's all about what's best for the team(or club). Kagawa has absolutely nothing to do with my stance on Rooney.

If anything, it makes more sense to second-guess the Rooney defenders! The current facts we have obviously makes Rooney the bad guy, yet some people are willing to forgive everything like nothing has happened. That is in my opinion an example of extreme Rooney-love and bias.

Had Kagawa been in a similar situation, I would have wanted him out as well, regardless of him being my favorite player or not.

No forgiving from me that's for sure, whether he leaves or stays, I absolutely don't care anymore. If he stays, I can only for him to be back at his best in terms of performances and behavior. If he goes, we have a good enough team not to feel his absence too much over the course of the season.
I'm neutral, I certainly don't hold my hands together in sincere hope and prayer that he'll leave. I just don't care

Nor am I..

But if I could choose, then I'd want him gone. Not because I hold grudges, but because I'll genuinely get embarrassed if he's then one winning games and points for us. I can take a lot of banter from opposing supporters, but the one thing I don't want to hear, is that our success depends on a cnutish mercenary. I want us to be better than that.

Sure, by all means. The problem is that none of this amounts to extraordinarily cnutish behaviour in the modern game. As I've said before, even if it turns out he has been weighing up his options, considering leaving, all this - well, it's something many players have done before and many will after him. He isn't emotionally attached to Manchester United like a man to his wife. He's a professional footballer. Considering leaving, then deciding to stay doesn't constitute some kind of unacceptable treason. It's being blown out of proportion, this thing.

The rest of the team don't act nearly as cnutish as Rooney, though. Unfortunately for him, that makes him stand out like a sore thumb. Had he been a City or Real player, then his behavior might not have been considered a big deal. But he's not.

Bored of the whole saga a while back, it's like circus Beckham all over.

He has disrespected the club one to many times for me and i honestly wish he would just go and make way for a player who deserves his shirt. Like Hernandez.

Mournho has been talking about Rooney saying that 'he likes him very much'!

This is summer isn't shaping up too well so far. Some posters might want to see the back of Wayne but if we don't start bringing in some quality it is going to be a case of cutting off our nose to spite our face.

I'm not a fan of Mourinho but I imagine he was prompted to talk about Rooney by journalists.

United players are held to a different standard because of they way Fergie has run the club the last 26 years, but I have always said he has not done anything that is so outlandish in terms of the modern game. He will never be forgiven for 2010, but he has always tried to conduct business quietly Fergie has always chosen to make it public knowledge which is unlike him.

It sure looks like you do. When you say " if I could choose, then I'd want him gone", is it that much different from saying you " I wish him to be gone " ?
What does it even mean "if I could choose" on a forum ?

It means that in my ideal world, Rooney would be out of the team.

But that doesn't mean that I spend every waking moment praying for his departure. I want him gone, it's as simple as that. I will be disappointed if he stays, but it's not like I'm gonna throw a tantrum or anything.

I hope we ship him out, but I hope it's not to Chelsea or anyone else in England. I think he could do for Chelsea what Van Persie did for us last season. Send him off to Spain, he can join up with all the other ex-pats out there.

Whatever happens I hope it'll be soon, I'm tired of this uncertainty inside the team (Who is staying ? Who is going ? Who is coming ?). I hate the summer break when it comes to football.

He will have been asked about him, and whatever he says it'll make a headline.

Nothing to see unless they actually make a bid.

Mourinho making it known that he will play Rooney in his preferred position , but pace and directness?, hasn't he watched him lately.

Moyes says he will be out for 2 to 3 weeks, which is slightly better than the initial month. Hopefully he gets a couple of pre-season games in before it all kicks off.

To those hoping we sell him, I highly doubt it now, regardless of what Mourinho said, unless of course Chelsea offer us a huge amount. He seems like he's in Moyes' plans.

I think we need to make the best of the situation now. I for one would rather see him go. I'm sick of fact that he can't seem to keep himself out of the headlines and just get on with what he's paid to do. But if he's going to stay, we've got a 20+ league goal player on our hands whose only 27 so we might as well make the most of his talents.

Who knows though, maybe Moyes might be the one to get the most out of him? A change in manager and coach staff could be just what Rooney needs. That's what I'm hoping for anyway. Moyes re-motivating Rooney.

Is this hamstring injury story legit? I've always found it strange that professional athletes get a muscle strain which is usually caused by the muscle either not being sufficiently stretched, or not being worked out enough to prepare it for strenuous activity.

2-3 weeks? Neither that nor the claims that it is only a niggle appear to corroborate the media reports of it being a "grade 2 hamstring strain".

Is Rooney stuck at home and away from the Moyes and the squad going to increase the likelihood of him pledging his future to United? I would say not, for the duration of the tour we'll either see matters at a standstill or we'll see those people keen on a transfer trying to force the issue somehow.

Are PSG no longer interested, we haven't heard anything from that quarter in weeks.

Maybe we should do a buy one get one free, buy Rooney and get your very own Bebe thrown in for free!

Hi Andrew, I just felt the same thing. "Rooney felt his hamstring tighten at the end of United's last training session before flying to Bangkok.
"It's a blow that we've lost him because he's been training well and looking very good," said Moyes.
"But unfortunately he just felt something in his hamstring. I don't foresee any problem with Wayne starting the season and being fit for the start of the season."
Makes me think he just didn't want to go to Bangkok and at the last moment said Nah... think I'll stay at home

But he had already flown out.........

I'd have thought he'd want to show his face in at least one pre-season match before forcing the issue further with Moyes

I can however envisage Rooney disagreeing with Moyes over the response to this injury, if it's minor enough Dave may have wanted to keep him on the tour whereas the player could see that as potentially risking a future transfer.

What if he thinks Bangkok is London and wants to stay there, thinking he hasn't actually left the country yet?

what if he thinks the opposite is true and doesn't know whether to order jellied eels, pie and mash or pad thai?
