Was it after his first day? I just can't see United taking him along if anything was seriously in the works, let alone required him to be back there. What happened today that they didn't know before they left?

They flew out on the 11th so Cesc didn't even make it onto the plane.

If this is genuine and he does end up staying, it means his preseason has been ruined and we have one of his "forgot how to play" spells to look forward to.

feeling a bit sorry for moyes, he's really having a huge baptism of fire. Rooney, if he's staying, will be fecked for the start of the season for a month or so. Takes time to get going. I'm starting to get less and less excited about this season the longer this summer goes on. All feels so dam wishy washy (a nice pantomine phrase!)

Have to love the caf conspiracy theorists. Rooney's clearly going nowhere.

Shit luck that he's injured, but it could actually have been worse timing. Am I right in saying that he'll be injury free again before the PL starts? Form and fitness might take a while longer, but basically he shouldn't miss too many actual league matches.

Could do with a couple more strikers on the tour, though :nervous: What's Will Keane up to?

are people believing this 'hamstring' injury. I said to my mate the other day (no that's not the start to a song) that he would at some point get an 'injury' when/if a bid comes in that we accept. hope I am wrong but why go home for that? We have had people injured on tours before and they have stayed. What treatment will he get in UK that will magically treat a hamstring that he can't get there? I'm not being facetious I'm genuinely asking. Maybe all the flights and press stuff he will have to do is bad for it...
hmmm

That King Johnno character just tweeted that he's been told "Rooney is off."

Can we play Candle in the Wind yet ?

I've tried for five minutes now to come up with something, but the original lyrics are feckin' awful. Don't even rhyme properly half the time. "Goodbye Rodney Mark, though we hardly knew ye with hair..." No, it doesn't work.

What do you mean why go home? Because at home he can get proper treatment at the Carrington facilities, and rest up. On tour they spend all day either walking around the various locations, travelling (plane, bus etc) or training. Not things you want to be doing if you're nursing an injury.

Yeah, I dunno. After Thiago I'm in a pessimistic mood. Rooneys off, ddg will go to Barca

Sending an injured player home is the right thing to do, whether its a smokescreen or not is another thing.

Form and fitness might take a while longer, but basically he shouldn't miss too many actual league matches.

That rather assumes that Rooney would have started those matches.

With RVP and Kagawa to join the our later on i expect Moyes will be maing his plans around them as his first choice candidates for No 9 and 10.

With our list of injuries in recent years, Moyes priority should start with replacing the medical team first.

Great day. The Thiago sh!T after a month of hoping, and now this.

Rooney never gets back to top form quickly after injury, so we can look forward to him playing well in October!

If Rooney stays he will continue to be one of the central figures in our first team.
