Exactly, even if he stays his actions won't exactly contribute to a harmonious atmosphere either, will they? Past the point of no return now, I think.

Not really, we're not privy to stuff that goes on behind the scenes. Schmeichel and Yorke had plenty of run ins with Fergie, according to Sir Alex he was very close to selling him at his peak. Thankfully we didn't have Twatter and other social media in those days, because the rumours would've gone into overdrive. As the Big Dane said all players have had major quarrels with Ferguson. It's normal. And not really worthy of mass hysteria.

I'm personally not that big a fan of his anymore, I think he's been average (and at times flat-out crap) for the past couple of years, so if we get £30m+ for him (which we then spend on a quality replacement) I'm content.

And it begins

I don't think we would sell to a PS team regardless of how bad we want the money. Still you could be right... Personally I've had enough of him and would rather see him out as soon as possible regardless of where.

Over-rated player who wants better players around him but be the main man, as SAF said "Wayne on form would not be getting subed"

Well SAF doesn't sub off players who play absolutely terrible games so a bit harsh to sub Rooney off so regularly even when he's not had that poor games.

This is a man who has asked to leave Manchester United, twice. I see no way back.

I regretfully agree with you. Not because you are in fact a cunto, but for the fact that Rooney is a fantastic player and any team in the world would be better off with him in the ranks.

Gary Neville desperately wants him to stay, he's only got good words about him. I hope Moyes can convince Pretty Blue Eyes to stay. He's a part of the fabric of the club, not the types of players you'd want to lose.

Listening to Neville kind of gave me the impression he was wearing his England hat, talk a player up (hes a good kid...) and promote the club he supports (anywhere else is a step back...) that way its win win

Still Id rather see him go, wants better players around him and wants to be the main man but isn't good enough

Plenty of players get subbed off despite not being the worst player performing that match. What ever happened to nobody being bigger than the club? Oh I dont like to be subbed, please let me leave. I'm too good for this.

Seems odd we're apparently so keen to bring back Ronaldo in that case.

It's all about the current state of mind.
If Ronaldo comes back, then it's because he has a desire to play for United again, and thus he's more than welcome.

Atkinson and Macari summed it up best in the studio when they said there's nowhere for him to go. They burst out laughing at the thought of Rooney living in Paris.

Bang on.

Hernandez for instance hasn't exactly been given as many games as he should have, yet you don't hear a word out of him. You can clearly see that he loves playing for Manchester United.

Concur, hopefully Moyes recognises Hernandez's value to the team.

And it begins

It really doesn't. I've been saying this for a while now. Can anyone genuinely say that they're pleased with how Wayne has developed, considering his massive talent when he was younger?

I think it is best for him to move now. The way I see it, after Ronaldo left, he had a chance to make himself the figurehead player of the club. It worked okay for a while, but he could never do that last mile to make himself completely indispensable. It may be due to his lifestyle, personal problems or mental immaturity, but he just couldn't drag the club up all by himself. And after a while, we stopped expecting it and got in a high caliber striker.

So that's fine. Frankly, Wayne just need newer surroundings where he can find his verve back. At full throttle, he is still mind blowingly good. As a No 10, he can mangle defences by his ability to pick up the ball in any position and direct attacking play. He hasn't been able to do that with us for a while now for whatever reasons. So for the better of the club and hiimself, he decided to move. And I don't see the problem with that. So unless he can find himself again at United and carry on, its great. If he just can't, then its better he moves.

I don't see any issues with his request. All the best Wayne and good luck for the future.

PS: I think I may repeated the same point umpteen times in one post.

We're in a position where we don't have to sell, but I just don't know how fans and players will take to him if he's not sold. I know they came round the first time, but for some now he'll never be forgiven.

Players who don't want to play for Manchester United are exactly the type of players you want to lose.

Well, no he's not the first who's wanted to leave. Ruud put in three transfer requests before moving on, if a player's still at their peak, clubs like United will do their best to keep hold of them.

It wouldn't be good for the clubs finances but if he wanted to go to Chelsea or City, I'd love if the club let him rot for the rest of his contract. Won't happen, of course.

Don't want him to be persuaded to stay. Fergie hinted at him being unhappy at being subbed/dropped a few times. That wouldn't have happened if he'd been playing well.

We don't want someone that the manager is afraid to drop because they'll hand a request in at the end of the season.

Depending how this plays out will determine whether I lose respect for Rooney but at the moment I'm thinking feck him and cash in.

And if Rooney, unlike Ronaldo, actually changes his mind and decides he wants to play for Manchester United some more, what then?

I can't see anybody meeting our valuation, I'd settle for £30M or a midfielder plus cash deal.

At least Ronaldo always looked up for it and in peak physical condition.

Nonsense. He was criticised often for not tracking back, for throwing a strop when losing the ball instead of trying to get it back and he was pretty mediocre/poor in the first half of his last season here.

Ronaldo has a fanatical devotion to himself and always wants to prove his superiority over mere mortals but he can be a little moany bitch as well.

You could be right, but he could've skirted the issue instead of backing him.

Just going to have my mini rant then move on - seeing players like Chicharito and Jones and particularly Rafael (who had made his own thank you t-shirt to Sir Alex) and how happy and please they were to be involved today - and then you have Rooney handing in his 2nd transfer request apparently days after we had won the title? Don't think Rooney realizes he's a a piece of the puzzle and not the actual puzzle.

Don't think we need shit like that at the club, and I think that was shown today by Sir Alex not playing him.

I can see if a few people agree he sorts himself and comes back but once was enough as far as i'm concerned - has to go.

It'll be interesting to see fans like that and how they would react if Ronaldo were to come back. He begged and pleaded to leave, and he got his wish. All forgotten about you reckon?

Also, Ronaldo has that mental stamina which Rooney just doesn't. An unhappy Ronaldo would still want to win and could still single handedly eke out a win when chips are down. A mentally absent Rooney is just a shocker to watch.

And if Rooney, unlike Ronaldo, actually changes his mind and decides he wants to play for Manchester United some more, what then?

Still a no go for me, there's only so far you can go before enough is enough. Have some respect for the club ffs.

Is Rooney at his peak though? Him leaving would allow Kagawa to flourish in his preferred position, and the money will help in buying players. He wants out, let him leave.

Too much of a risk, things are going to be difficult enough for moyes winning the support over, what if Rooney has one of his bad periods, gets dropped and starts fecking up the dressing room atmosphere.....

I wanted us to sell Ruud a season before we did.

He gave Real his best years. Do you really want him back? I'd rather stick with players who've been an integral part of our success. In Rooney's case, a decade of brilliance.

Maybe. Although, as a No 10, at peak, Rooney is better. Whether he has the mental makeup to get to his peak at United is a another matter altogether

He's a thick cnut really isn't he. Can't see what he's got in front of him. He wanted us to have better players and when we do he moans like a bitch about not playing as much. How about manning up and dealing with the challenge Wayne? Wanker. Sell him abroad.

Rooney's played an utterly sh!t game again.

Does this, just as Fergie retires!

If Moyes is that keen to keep him, he'll go on the charm offensive, and point out he'll still be a key player.
Should be a different scenario to the last time Rooney tried to walk out on Moyes!

Cana't imagine we'd sell to another club in this country though. But surely Real Madrid wouldn't be interested, and would he go to France or Germany?

Of course he'd be welcomed with open arms. Its another thing altogether to expect complete loyalty from a foreign players. This nonsense with Rooney is exactly why we're keen to keep a British core to our squad, because foreign players are more likely to want to move on. Of course it doesnt matter what nationality you are, there are always going to be one or two who get too big for their boots and think they are bigger than the club. Rooney is just the exception
