I think he'll be on the bench again. Ferguson will start Welbeck, Hernandez and Van Persie. I'm not sure he'll bring him on either. Nobody wants the boo's or whatever kind of crap today. It's Fergusons day.

Nobody has mentioned that? Are you fecking kidding me? It's been mentioned in nearly every one of your 300+ posts in this thread ffs!

I don't believe I've mentioned him leaving for free before but feel free to quote the posts where I have.

feck me some people are cocks about Rooney after what he has done here he deserves our respect regardless what he chooses to do next (except sign for City or Liverpool) he will get applauded by me. Some people are making him out to be shit now thats just wrong the guy is an immense player and I hope he stays.

To be honest I would rather Charlton kept the record, he is a proper legend.

Same.

I know he has his worshippers within our fanbase, but I haven't taken to Rooney quite the same since his arrogant behaviour in 2010. I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that. If he stays, fine. If he thinks the grass is greener elsewhere, let him off.

It's going to be like Tevez all over again if he leaves.

No, its not that. Deep down everyone knows what kind of a player Rooney is. It's just that more and more posters have just become fickle minded when it comes to our players. They read the news on the papers or the net and immediately come over here to flame the player. Even posters I thought were sensible and level-headed just act like children. Just wait for the club to come out with an official statement regarding the player's situation with the club, then by all means flame away. But until then lads, he's still a united player who has helped us win no.20. I really understand it has been a miserable time for all of us with Sir Alex retiring and I understand your frustration, but to see the Wayne Rooney thread just on top everyday with the same posters post the same exact insults and slurs everyday, it is extremely sad.Nothing of any value is being added upon. Waiting for a club statement and reserving our judgments until then shouldn't be that hard should it?

Tevez was never ours and Rooney has done far far more for this club so you'd expect a different attitude from our fans if Rooney left but I'll not hold my breath.

It's natural that people are always going to become a tad frustrated though if he demands to leave when he has already done so in the past and basically held the club to ransom for better wages. A player leaving isn't necessarily a bad thing from the fans perspective all the time; it's how the player handles it which can often annoy fans, and if he goes somewhere like PSG then he's naturally going to look like a money grabber and you can't then blame the fans for disliking him.

As for the other part, I agree that some are taking it too far. He's not had his best season overall and people are taking it a step further. I don't particularly disagree with comments that says he's not indispensible though. As much as he's a brilliant footballer, I'd be nowhere near as disappointed as I would've been in 2010 should we sell him.

We all (I hope) want Wayne to be at his best, and to be happy at United...but it seems at times like he's merely going through the motions - this isn't beneficial to anyone. I imagine that we all understand how there's manoeuvring by both parties when it comes to contract negotiations; personally, I just wish that it was kept private, without the press acting as unofficial spokesmen.

To a certain extend I can understand Rooney wanting to leave because I doubt that he doesn't care where he plays, I'm pretty sure he prefers playing up front much more than being shifted all around the field filling in where ever need be.

He is a little diva and I'm sure being treated as second fiddle to RvP and being the jack of all trades in the team wasn't much to his liking.

Another point to take into consideration is that Rooney is now 27 and if he would want to go abroad for a few more years and experience something else next season might be the best time for it.

It's always hard for us fans to stomach the fact that most players usually don't feel about the clubs they play for the way we do but there is so much we can't possibly consider, because we are on the outside, that play a role for a player choosing a certain path in their careers.

Seeing him leave would be a sad thing but as with every other player it's not the end of the world, we will move on and win things and maybe he will as well.

So if he really wants to leave so be it good luck to him I won't hate him for it but rather thank him for his years of great service and awesome memories.

Actually, they're just entertaining the possibility that he asked Fergie about his place in the team and that he might well leave.

And yet its the very fans in the thread that get completely wound up by the press articles, even though the club really hasn't yet given out a statement. We don't know what Wayne is going through and there has been a change in manager, his ex-manager. And to be honest, patience is something many on here lack.

This is probably too much to ask but can the mods temporarily suspend threads? Like this one? Today is all about Fergie. Rooney can wait

No the difference being arse hair is a snidey sneaky little cnut, who rather than saying I want more money or I'm off publicly called the boss a liar and then pretended it was all about the strength of the playing Squad. Something he made no mention of at all DURING the transfer window but waited until just after it closed, hardly the actions of someone hoping to encourage strengthening the squad. People say he was badly advised, he knows be was and is sorry, yet he still employs that massive cock goblin strettford, hardly screams I didn't mean it to me.

When has any player ever come out and admitted that they want more money? RvP didn't join us on the salary he was on at Arsenal did he? And you don't have any way if knowing if Rooney spoke to SAF and the board about transfers beforehand.

The bitterness in that post is quite shocking actually to the point that I'm not even going to try to debate this with you because your mind is so clearly set.

No....just don't read the thread. It's really not that hard.

I can understand why Plato's request cannot be fulfilled H, but I think he asked as he cares about the player and the club's events this week. Same with me, even though i don't want to read this thread, I sort of do anyway.

there has been a change in manager, his ex-manager.

That also applies to all our other players, Art. I haven''t noticed them currying sympathy via journalist friends.

I understand that, but we can all appreciate it Is Fergies day without having to lock every thread that isn't about him. If you want to talk and discuss only the day and him, use one of the threads dedicated to that. Imagine how many new threads would be made asking what's happened, the pms from angry thread starters who can't post in their threads etc, the forum doesnt react well to surprise.

The Rooney 'situation' is an interesting one. His next contract could be his last. He's said it himself. When he loses that yard, he might have to consider his position. When you see Michu at Swansea and Benteke at Villa you soon realize there are options - albiet they could be one season wonders (in England anyway)

We have Keane coming through and Cofie (who's gone off the radar but was immense prior to his loaning out). It's not easy but I couldn't see Moyes not wanting to work with Rooney personally.

Your ethusiasm about our young players is admirable but sometimes simply baffling. Cofie will be very lucky to be a Premier League footballer let alone someone who'll replace Rooney. If Rooney goes, we'll buy.

Don't worry about it lads. I have the slightest clue how being a mod works. Hectic does. If it's more feasible for us not to read the thread, then that is what we should do. I just made a request because I felt such a day warranted sole attention on Fergie. People will do what people do I guess.

It wasn't an angry no or anything, and the request wasn't extreme given the occasion, it's just probably not very practical.

This place gets worse everyday. Yesterday it was Kagawa to replace Rooney. Now we're down to Michu, Benteke, Keane and Cofie.

could you explain what the bolded part meant?

I mean that, crudely, it smacks of Chelsea-like behaviour, the kind of favours-exchanged which goes on with that club's senior players and the press. I'm as tired of reading Wayne's POV via Talksport et al as I am of reading how Saint Super Frankie has been cruelly denied a new contract by Chelsea's evil Russian mafia. It's a cheap tactic and, in fairness, one that clubs employ too; but in this case, it couldn't have come at a worse time - and it's no time to put one's own interests above that of United, as Wayne seems to be doing.

Firstly, I think contract discussion began long before Sir Alex decided to call it quits Steve. I think it happened after the Real Madrid second leg, after which sir alex had to come out and give out an interview where ( paraphrasing here) he said that he had no problems with wayne, is going nowhere and when asked about contract negotiations, he said he can't talk about it in the press. I think that's when we last heard about Wayne's contract negotiations. Who knows? It might've been before that even. The press chooses to show Wayne in a bad light, and it happens. The press chooses to show him in a good way, it happens. Not saying that Wayne is never at fault. For all we know, he might be in the wrong the whole time, but we don't know that yet as the club has not released an official statement as to what has actually happened.

Currently. the press have so many tools at their disposal to twist the story in any way possible . and they will sound like a believable read and the majority on here with their itchy trigger fingers will smack their lips and have a go. I joined redcafe during the days when I used to lurk and read the ff, I learnt how to think and behave as a United fan from here. Now, it is very sad.

Fair enough, mate. Good points.

Definitely sounds like someone who has just had stitches after being pounded by jones and dropped from today's squad doesn't it. The guy who started the rumour should be ashamed
Tell me about it.

I was expecting Rooney to tweet a pic of himself wearing a souvenir Eiffel Tower jumper and a Fergie mask with a post-it note stuck on his head saying "stitches below".

Sir Alex rated cofie too. What you have to understand is when he was playing well we loaned him out. If Rooney goes we will buy, but not automatically a striker....

I think people are saying there's lots of options, it's not indecision. Incidently one of the great things about Sir Alex was recognizing potential so when we sold Hughes, Ince and Kanchelskis in the mid nineties, I can only imagine your disappointment
