Hope he isn't in the match day squads for the next couple of games.

Why exactly? If he is in the team, then perhaps it's possibly safe to assume that the rift is pure media conjecture and completely baseless?

It will be interesting to see the reaction he gets when it's his turn to lift the trophy. I remember alot of chants for Rooney at the end of the Villa game when we sealed the title. Will the fans have completely turned on him without any concrete statement from either Rooney or the club?

Yes, he talked about one summer 6 years ago where he returned and he was a few pounds more than when he left, to talk as if there's a serial fitness and dedication problem is speculation at best.

He just played poorly against Everton, there was no lack of effort. Everytime Rooney plays poorly lately it's blamed on his fitness or lack of trying, and this is becoming a theme for a few of our players. That may be one game it could be argued mind, as he'd only played like 2 pre season games prior to the season, which is hardly his fault.

We could do the same for so many of our players. Scholes shouts feck off repeatedly, he threw a punch at someone on the field and got sent off, puts in horrendous challenge after horrendous challenge that see him pick up red cards year after year, he refused to play in a reserve/league cup game Fergie picked him for, he stormed off and went home instead.

Rio, swears a lot, misses drugs tests, meets with Chelsea's chairman during contract negotiations, elbows and kicks people off the ball, clapped in referees face after Madrid game, creates media storms through his behaviour on twitter...

You may also want to note the use of the word "like".

If he had such fitness and indiscipline issues all these years why has Fergie kept him around I wonder? This is a player who can't be arsed to keep himself in proper shape (your words), how has the greatest manager of all time allowed him to let himself go and let him do what he wants all these years and let him remain at the club? Maybe, just maybe, there's a bit of exaggeration and fabrication going on from those looking in from the outside and don't actually see what he does in training and where his fitness levels stand when they're tested internally..

Jesus  how was he meant to know swearing on a football pitch (after just completing a hatrick to put us 3-2 up in the title run in) was going to get him banned? It was a joke of a decision from the FA, which was echoed on here at the time.

Yes. He's so fit we had to send him to a nike training camp in the middle of the season to help get him fit. You do realise, that wasn't that long ago. His fitness issues have been going on for some time now. If you can't recognise he's not in the best shape or at least recognise the times he's come back unfit, sincerely I don't think you're helping yourself.

Fergie has outlined repeatedly how Rooney's family history shows an indication for Wayne to gain weight easily. If he's as fit as you say he is, he certainly hasn't been applying it well enough. Your prerogative if you choose to gloss over what's been noticeable for some time now.

If the rumours are true, I hope he leaves. If they aren't then of course I'd like him to stay.

How much do we really care if Rooney goes? He's a very good player but it's not like he's irreplaceable. We've lost more important players before now and been fine.

I don't think this is a one-sided thing, even if Rooney has handed in a transfer request. The feeling from the club for a while has been that they'd be willing to sell if the right offer came in, at least according to the journalists that cover the club. I'd guess both Rooney and the club know he's gonna go and this is just posturing and spin.

Still, next season will be exciting if he does go. New manager and a Rooney-less team, start of a new era.

if he wants to go... let him. How much do you think United would get for him? He's a good player but he certainly has not progressed as I thought he would. When he and Ronnie were first started playing together I though Rooney would develop more than Ronnie who just seemed to have a few fancy step overs and fell down a lot. How wrong was I.

"Founded in 1821 by John Edward Taylor in Manchester, the 11 members of the first Little Circle excluding William Cowdroy, Jnr. of the Manchester Gazette decided to advance their liberalist agenda. They helped then cotton merchant John Edward Taylor form the Manchester Guardian, which he edited for the rest of his life and they all wrote for. With backing from the non-conformist Little Circle group of local businessmen, The Manchester Guardian replaced the radical Manchester Observer, which championed the Peterloo Massacre protesters. The paper currently identifies with social liberalism. The paper is influential in the design and publishing arena, sponsoring many awards in these areas."

Really?

I don't think there was any point where I didn't think Ronaldo was the better player.

SAF and Moyes are apparently locked in a battle over who gets to send him packing.

Anybody else seen on his twitter, he has deleted the "Manchester utd player" part from his information area, and now just says Nike athlete

Guys, I don't know if you've noticed but on his twitter it says he's a Nike athlete not a player?

I know the news broke hours ago about Rooney, but this is obviously a new development!!!

Nice to know you have the time to sit on the forum all day and read page after page ;)

Read it about it earlier, don't know why he would want to delete that from his page, bit of a stupid thing to do when you have got rumors going around about him handing in a transfer request.

He can feck off for all i care

Thanks for the goals, thanks for the years.

No more, no less

His goals are paid in full with his salary, he doesn't owe us shit, and neither do we owe him anything.

He's not Giggs, Scholes, Neville, now he can sod off and get paid somewhere else, while we paid someone else for our goals.

Some people claim that he changed his status from "Manchester United player" to "Nike athlete" already in 2012.

I don't know which side is correct though, seeing as I don't use Twitter. But if he really decided to change his status at this time, then it's hardly a coincidence?

Unless he's trolling. That would be hilarious:lol:

Yeah, his profile has said NikeUK athlete for a while now, it's not a recent change that's been made after Sir Alex announced his retirement.

He's been doing those Adverts for a while so I don't think it's a new change.

I'm not bothered if he goes. If he doesn't want to be here, he can feck off, the miserable twat.

was my favorite current player but since his last episode and now this he should just go. we can get a bundle for him for sure. psg, or another team in a completely different league, is fine with me. it's his loss.

Just pay the man 200k a week and im sure he will sign for another 5 years. His agent is one slimey greedy twat.

How about no?

Its quite simple, if he doesn't want to be around then feck him off and cash in. We're not going to capitulate to agents like the Chelskis and City's of the world.

If he did make a transfer request, I'd rather we didn't pay him anything at all.

I have missed a lot of pages so would somebody be kind enough to summarize this Rooney situation for me please  ?

He supposedly approached Sir Alex two weeks ago asking to leave, Sir Alex and the club said no. It all surfaced last night for some reason. The only thing to actually come from Manchester United is the club saying he isn't for sale, him asking to leave hasn't been confirmed to be true.

rumour has it he said he wants to leave if Moyes becomes manager, but that's all there is to it, rumours.

and someone from the club said he's not for sale, that's the only actual quote.

and since people have to nitpick every possible scenario they're now worried over Rooney having a NikeAthlete tag instead of ManchterUnitedPlayer or something like that on Twitter (don't know, don't care, Twitter's a joke and basicaly nonsense 99%)

Transfer request, a new way to get the contract.

Football is so spoiled, these days.

Well, if that were the case, even more reason then. It's not something that should ever become common place or accepted at the club - in order to achieve a pay rise you put in a transfer request in every few season, that's unacceptable.

But if he asked to leave and we let him then he gets what he wants! I say we pay him all of the money and never let him leave.

That's brilliant, maybe Wayne is a genius.

If he decides to make a request even after Sir Alex decided to retire, I guess that's the last bit of straw. We should be done with him. If its just a contract situation, then just let the negotiation go on.

I don't care about negotation tactics as long as they aren't made public, or handled the way he did last time, as I refuse to believe he was seriously questioning the clubs ambition and simply wanted more money. I can accept that, I don't really care what wages our players get, it's all a bit irrelevant, just don't drag us through the mud in public for it.
