Wayne Rooney | 2012-14 Performances

James Ducker saying the same. But clearly it's media.

The Times, The Guardian, The Daily Mail and The Mirror journalists reporting the same thing. All bollocks though!

Except for the fact that two other newspapers are reporting it.

I still don't think he'll go to Chelsea.

Yeh I think there's something in this. Rooney's clearly had something going on for a few months now. I'm not saying he's known about this, perhaps he was after a move before this news? The appointment of Moyes will seal it though.

I love Rooney, he's a great player. He's very replaceable though given the fact we still have RVP.

So Fergie retires, we currently have no manager, and we're looking to offload Rooney and bring in Ronaldo for a huge outlay. Has Moyes sanctioned this because I imagine that's kind of important?

James Ducker is about as reliable as it gets journo wise, right?

Moyes doesn't need a player who doesn't want to be here so if Rooney has asked to leave we should sell

They've all clearly made this rumour up to sell papers because there's been no interesting football stories in the past 24 hours.

Wait, he's asked to leave again?

Once bitten hey? Trying fourteen thousand, nine hundred and seventy eight times bitten by a media that yes, constantly, endlessly make up the most obvious nonsense to sell newspapers.

Sorry, I (like most) have a knack for spotting media bullshit. Obviously everyone will make mistakes, but some just aren't that hard to spot. For example, after solid German sources revealed Lewandowski was going to Bayern, we had Cuntis and his Greek mate tell us United would need to stump up £80m in contract and transfer fees to get him.

Bullshit story.

We were set to sign Modric last year (I have that one saved somewhere), once again, by Cuntis.

Bullshit story.

When several journos latch onto Rooney leaving, they're not all wrong. They do have contacts in the club. They do hear murmurings. What they're good at is spinning the truth. They hear that someone is leaving, so they spin it and make assumptions and write a story about that club being interested in signing a replacement.

Journos don't put themselves out on a limb like this all that often when they're not sure. They have a reputation (no, seriously) that they want/need to protect. They're clever with their wording too. See how he said that it was more of an informal plea than an official request? That's in case nothing does come of it. But they're sure that he wants to leave.

I'm certainly going for this one.

Well Bayern are apparently going to sign Bale, Lewandowski and Rooney

Er

Once a cnut, always a cnut.

Wait, so did Rooney know Fergie was going to retire, and then ask for the transfer, or was it out of the blue?

I doubt he goes to Chelsea.

I think we should sell him now, especially if the cnut has asked to be moved on again.

Van Persie is the main man at the club and I'd rather we sign proper CMs than trying to convert Rooney into one. Kagawa can do the #10 role and there are other players who can play there too who would be available. Rooney isn't as big a loss this time as he would've been in 2010 IMO.

It's unfortunate - a motivated Rooney makes us tick.

For all the love RVP (deservedly) gets, he can't create much himself. There have been quite a few matches (especially in 2013) where Robin has been rather anonymous. For all his faults, that is one thing Rooney never is. He connects the (non-existant) midfield and attack, can ping cross field balls and has a very impressive 'view of the field'.

Fine he hasn't looked up for it for us, but if there's anyway we could keep him and get him back and focussed, he's virtually irreplaceable.

Gonna be interesting to see how certain posters go about defending good old Wayne if this turns out to be true...

So if Rooney actually has asked to leave again are people still going to keep defending him no matter what? Not that it really matters, I just think it would be funny.

Defend him over what? It's not a crime to want to move on. This season has been a tough one for him.

I don't see things improving for him at Bayern though.

So all these journos know about something as major as this that happened 2 weeks ago and none of them chose to report it but now they're all backing up the story after the Mail reported it? Okay

Wait, so did Rooney know Fergie was going to retire then, and then asked for the transfer, or was it out of the blue?

Out of the blue and didn't knew about Fergie's retirement.

I really am not bothered anymore. He could have been a legend for his club and its safe to say he's not fulfilled that potential he had when he joined us 9 years ago

We're going to have to cope without Sir Alex Ferguson, coping without Rooney will be a breeze.

Obviously I play football manager! knowing wonderkids is all part of my job. Still doubt Moyes has a clue who he is though.

A manager who has signed players from all over Europe, not aware of one of the most promising players in Spain?

We don't even know if this is true for sure or not but you already have posters on here abusing him.

There's a slimy mole within OT it seems. The cnuts released word of SAF's retirement and now a day later these Rooney stories are coming out. Probably that new guy who's come in for Gill, he seems like a right 'wrong en'.

Would be good to get rid of him, highest wages at the club and we can get Kagawa to play behind RvP.

His £220.000/week can Bayern pay instead.

If there's any truth to this rumour, don't be surprised if he pulls the "can't work under any United boss after SAF" trick. Rooney should've sacked Stretford the first time 'round.

Meh, always had a feeling he was off in recent weeks, never been the same really with Wayne since his contract fiasco. Although watching him ping a ball wide last weekend to Rafael highlighted why we should actually keep him but if he wants out he can do one.

This story might or might not be true but if he's here next season, he's going to get shit loads of abuse every time he puts in a 7/10 performance now because everyone believes this story that he put in a request.

Not from me for that reason, but for his fecking pathetic wages every week he will and should get abuse.

Tbd, it's just as likely this is one journo being followed by others, or Rooney's camp trying the same trick to get a massive new deal.

Exactly what I said. All these journos are saying that it's true and that he asked for a move 2 weeks back, so why didn't any of them mention it before it came up in the Mail today?

No chance, he's not going to be able to call the shots this time. I suspect he just wants away.

Really no surprise he wants to leave, and I don't know why you're all being so bitter about it.

He is clearly not valued highly by the management or fans anymore... You all want him out anyway, he asks to leave for the good of the club and his career and you call him a cnut for it?

If Rooney has requested to leave then it will only serve to be indicative of his deteriorating attitude toward the game. He has been marginalised by his own poor form this year yet he has failed to bite back and fight for his place in the team. His performances actually got worse. Is he still Hungary enough?
