Vinicius Junior

I think he had that inconsistency in the league too and he was affected by an atypical season. Benzema absence, overload of games and very hostile and violent environment against him didn't help but he is reaching his best form of the season last games (best player vs Osasuna and Liverpool by far), and his numbers are good in all competitions. The best is yet to come.

He's obviously a really good player, nobody can deny that.

I like him a lot a lot, and I have massive admiration for the way he conducts himself considering the vitriol he's subject to on a weekly basis. I enjoy the way he plays the game, and I like how surprising he can be. I still find him inconsistent though, and I feel that he's a level below Rashford at the moment (but then again, on current form I think Rashford is a top 3 player in Europe), and if he can find that consistency in various scenarios, he'll definitely be amongst the very best. I totally agree with the phrase "the best is yet to come".

I've never seen a Real Madrid team as dependent on the improvisations of a single player as I see the current Real depending on Vinicius.

Remember that team had Ronaldo scoring more than a goal a game for more than a decade.

If Benzema can get over his injuries, it will free up Vini a lot, our game plan for large parts of the season has literally just been pass it to Vinicius and hope he dribbles past 3 players.

Better than Kvara ? Says who? The kid has 27 g/a in 25 games and was magnificent in far more games than Vinicius this season, who has yet to show he can perform consistently without Benzema on the pitch.
Says I. Kvara has not been consistent against the better teams, still has to show he can be a difference maker at the highest level. Vini already showed that last season and is doing so this season as well

Real Madrid is trailing 8 points behind barcelona in a mediocre liga.
Real Madrid doesn't really give a shit about the league this season. Half our team went into WC preservation mode in October then after the WC we did fitness training aimed at getting into top form by now/March, difficult January league schedule be damned. And Barcelona have been pretty lucky too over the stretch, winning games they had no business winning

I think you will realise that the world cup had players from every team, not just Real. So every other football club is in the same boat.

So if Real do not care about the league, why was Ancelotti's job under threat? So what do Real care about this season? CL only?

Barca are rebuilding, lucky or not they are 8 points clear and smashed madrid in the final in Saudi.

Are you kidding? VJ is having a terrific season... you cannot simply judge players like-for-like.... is Rashford playing better than Haaland for example? perhaps on v v v recent form, but for the season, no way. But that such statements don't really mean too much.

I cannot agree that Rashford is playing 'better' than VJ.

Sometimes fans should simply appreciate the game.. some seem to seek constant player-vs-player assessments, which sometimes seem to fluctuate from game to game. Is Rashford playing 'better' than Osihman @ Napoli? Who knows... all subjective right?

He is not. He's been far too inconsistent in La Liga to call his season "terrific". Unless, like the other poster, you dismiss La Liga and make it all about 2 CL games.

I have a special affection for him because he arrived very young and we could see his progression.
As well as being very good, he is very eager to keep learning and improving.
I think he could reach 30/35 goals per season in the future.
He seems very madridista, always with a smile on his face. I think he is a very entertaining player for the fan.
He hardly gets injured, physically he is very strong and he doesn't stop sprinting from minute 1 to 90.
The full-backs usually burst around the 70th minute.

I will tell you a secret. There is a madridista here, an Italian, who thought about selling him in the past.
We'll forgive him because he's a good guy and we all make mistakes.

There hasn't been any serious noise about Ancelotti's job being under threat.

Barca are rebuilding, lucky or not they are 8 points clear and smashed madrid in the final in Saudi.

Real Madrid have 1 more point than they did at this stage last year, when they were champions. They are 8 points behind because Barcelona have collected 2.68 points per game, which comes out to 102 points by the end of the season. What is Real Madrid supposed to do about this, get 103 points? They beat Barcelona in the league. They can't play as Cádiz.

Well done, you would have won the league last year twice if you include this season then.

I thought you said Barca have been lucky, insane luck to be projected to 100 points eh?

Has he been inconsistent? According to who? Based upon what? I'm sure with a quick search that I could find 'headlines' and quote 'stats and data..' that would suggest that he has indeed been playing terrific football, he looked incredible against Liverpool, and that did not seem to take anyone by surprise, aside from you perhaps.

I'm saying that such comments are subjective... interesting too, but highly subjective. Not many attacking players have hit the number of goals Rashford has... but let me ask you a question: Who is having a 'better' season for Manchester United: Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford, Lisandro Martinez, or Carlos Casimero?

Because my view is, that they all have been outstanding this season, and have defined our recent and current form. Who has been 'better'...? I could not say.

Barcelona have been lucky, yes. They have been lucky that, for whatever reason, the distribution of results has led them to concede few goals in La Liga, which has resulted in a points tally that is not representative of where they really are. Meanwhile in every other competition (Champions League, Europa League, Copa del Rey, Supercup) they have conceded more goals per game.

A lot of gibberish used to conceal the fact that you probably don't watch Real Madrid week in and week out in la liga. Otherwise you'd know why his season is good but not "terrific". He did look great against Liverpool, and everybody that knows football knows can Vinicius can do that because he's a great player, he just didn't do it consistantly, far from it actually. 2 goals in 14 La Liga games since october but hey, TERRIFIC, it's only numbers after all, I guess it doesn't matter for a winger (he only gave 3 assists during this time by the way).

So yeah, call that subjective, but when a player barely scores, barely gives assists and doesn't make a team that is supposed to be dominant win frequently enough, I'd say there isn't a single metric that could describe his season as "terrific".

Oh, I forgot, he also failed to perform during the world cup when his team needed him.

But yeah, terrific.

I really like the kid especially considering what he's going through in la liga, he's a great player that will probably improve even more but Vinicius is not having a dominant season so far, that's a fact.

How is it luck to not concede a goal in open play at home?

Barcelona conceded 7 goals for 18.1 expected goals against. So they either got lucky the opposing teams missed a lot or Ter Stegen is having the season of his life.

Stats tend to show it's a mix of both, Ter Stegen is running 4.9 goals over expected conceded goals, leaving roughly 6 goals that weren't conceded because the opponent missed.

I find the whole "well we don't care about la Liga" thing weird.

I find the whole "well we don't care about la Liga" thing weird.

I guess it's a coping mechanism. Since Pep's era, I think Barcelona won something like 8 liga titles when Real Madrid only won 4. Real Madrid is far better in the CL though so some of Real's fan don't really care about La Liga that much (or at least pretend they don't).

Who specifically has stated not to care about La Liga to speak about it as a thing worth debating about?

You didn't even try to look didn't you? It's like on this very page.

It's more the fact we won it last season. Obviously don't give a shit is hyperbole, but yeah, it's a lesser prize. Nobody's going to tear their hair out if we don't win it, it's the CL we really want

Don't reveal my shame

Tbf, i only ever mentioned selling him if it was necessary to get Mbappé though :D i always believed he was special!

I don't particularly have a hate boner for him, I have one for fans that declare "he's the best" when he's not.

Better than Kvara ? Says who? The kid has 27 g/a in 25 games and was magnificent in far more games than Vinicius this season, who has yet to show he can perform consistently without Benzema on the pitch. He fails to carry Brazil without Neymar and failed to carry Madrid without Benzema (3 goals in 12 games without Benzema on the pitch while being the primary option on offense).

Real Madrid is trailing 8 points behind barcelona in a mediocre liga. Sorry but that's far from enough to declare he's the best winger in the world.

Comparing Kvara to him is ridiculous. Vinicius won the champions league scoring the winner and had some iconic goals running from midfield vs City

I care about La Liga. But since I've been following Real Madrid, they've only won consecutive league titles once. So when the season begins with RM as champions, I know how things are going to pan out.

Personally I think the title's going to be closer than it looks like right now. But RM still probably lose it by a point or two.

:D I understand, we all had doubts, but right now I wouldn't sell him even for Mbappe

It's not more ridiculous than declaring he's the best left winger in the world after one great game against Liverpool, an average + la liga season (by elite players standards) and a poor world cup.

I would just like to add that Barca payed 7M€ to the VP of La Liga refs from 2001 to 2018 which comprises most of the years you referred to.
Do with that information what you want.

I'm a PSG supporter, I've been robbed by both teams in the near past, I'm not going to argue about the virtue of titles (even if Barcelona was far worse).

Oh me neither. Vini was born bleeding white

Valdano put it best, he was born to play for us

I think people underrate him still, for instance here everyone putting Khvicha ahead of him without proving anything.

Looking at that again I’d be disappointed if I were Ederson
