Viktor Gyökeres - Sporting Striker

He's looked exciting all night for me. Yeah he's not had the luck and didn't have the finish until recently, but the way he drives forward is what I was expecting from Hojlund.

Yeah but he wouldn't be able to score that in the Premier League now, would he?

Hojlund has similar attributes at least. Hopefully with some coaching he will start making similar runs. I can't see us having both of them unfortunately

He’s a very powerful runner, like you better keep up with him or he’s gonna get the angle on you, powerful. That’s always a problem for defenders because they have to commit all the way just to keep up. It also means you are in far more 50/50’s (do or dies) than you would like to be as a defender.

I would love him at Chelsea.. You can buy Jackson from us :0)

That was a proper strikers goal. Not sure how people see him and don't think he can muster it at the top.

Yeah, it's why Haaland gets so many goals.

Amorim knows this guy very well and gets the best out of him, if he wants him, he goes for him.

Or Amorim will get the same, or even more out of the much younger Hojlund instead. I dont think Hojlund would be incapable of scoring that type of goal.

The thing about Gyokeres is that he is fast and strong and one little mistake by a defender he is in a goalscoring position.

Its very hard to stop him. Seems like every game he gets chances like that.

That first miss was awful to be fair but he doesn’t do that often.

I haven’t seen much of him before tonight, but how much of his running today is because he’s up against a rookie defender who’s doing a fairly poor job of keeping tabs on his runs?

I’d be running behind Pusey too if you get what I mean .

Owen Hargreaves thinks he didn't mean it
You can see in the slo-mo how deliberate it was. I think Hargreaves will take it back upon further viewing.

Yeah and not many strikers have that in them; stands out a mile with him, but it takes a hell of lot out of the body to run like that all season. Not saying he can’t do that routinely as some are simply genetically gifted enough for their muscles to withstand it.

The takeaway from this half is that the PL wouldn’t be at all daunting to him and he’ll give defenders here a really tough time from a physical standpoint, before ability is factored in.

He’s making runs off anyone in his vicinity. He strolls and then bursts into life then strolls again. You can’t have someone who runs like that get the drop on you because you won’t get ball side again.

Last time I saw something like that this consistently was prime Cavani. I love strikers who make those runs. None of that target man crap.

Have to say he looks like a proper player from this tiny sample size. Someone who can give a whole backline fits with the timing and power of his runs.

Cavani’s movement is up there with the best in history; if this guy has a fraction of that he’s going to get a lot of joy wherever he goes.

I don't understand all the hype.
