Viktor Gyökeres - Sporting Striker

You just get the following impression;

1. Ruben Evaluates our strikers and isn’t that impressed, too many missed chances, too selfish, don’t create enough for the other players and Rasmus too injury prone, he’ll suffer a couple of bad losses, pull his beautiful hair out

2. He’ll be tapping up Viktor Gyrokeres most weeks, Ashworth will say we’ve got a maximum of £60m in Winter available for a left Wing Back and CM, providing we get £25/30m for Antony or Casemiro.

3. He’ll play Rashford or Garnaucho at wing back just to pi.. then off so one of them puts in a transfer request probably more Rashford.

4. Maybe SJR sticks another £100m in the club for 2/3% so he can get Gyrokeres and Fransesco Trincao.

5. If he gets one or both of these players, you might find he gets rid of Anthony and Zirkzee.

I think from about 1st December expect the media to link us with at least 50 players from the Portuguese league? I do think we’ll sign 1 or 2 in January but I can’t see the club paying €100m for Gyrokeres?
Ruben Amorim already told that he is not taking any player form Sporting in January.
Expecting to take Gyokeres for 65M is ludicrous.
*Francisco *Gyokeres

Hattrick, takes his top off to reveal a United top. Stone Cold stunners Haaland and gets sent off.

He won't get the players as you say here, he is a Head Coach, which means he will not have any authority on transfers, his opinion will be taken into consideration but the final say is with Ashworth and the recruitment team, obviously what I expect to take place is that they agree on a way of playing and they will bring in the players with the right profile, it could be Gyokeres and Trincao, but not necessarily them.

To make room for Gyokores, the more likely move for Zirkzee is a loan, which hopefully will include a military fitness program. When he returns in summer training, because we really could use a third central forward for the rotation, we'll see if he's got anything about his game to provide another attacking dimension. But this thread is about Gyorkores and he would be an incredible asset to a squad which is missing above all a goal scorer.

if he's a guy that can bang in goals, we need to consider it simply bc we can't score on a free hooker right now

Rumours that he's off to Barca at the end of the season.

That’s a bad miss.

Hope we stay clear of this guy (I’m not saying that on the back of this miss). I’m just wary of a player who was playing for Coventry 2 years ago at the age of 24. I would much rather sign a striker with a high technical level (Kane/Lewandowski/Greenwood:devil: type technique).

That said, I don’t think he’s a bad player, but we should be aiming higher.

Frenkie? Frenkie is actually a fantastic player. Not sure if Gyokeres also is a fantastic player.

Just mean in terms of new manager + player they need to be a success at Utd.

Frenkie is a fantastic player, shame for ETH he couldn't get him.

Or we just give Hojlund a chance to develop some more? I’m hopefully Amorim’s system can bring the best out of Rasmus. Looking at Gyokeres and all his runs down the channel etc - it might actually be a good fit for Hojlund.

Get in the bin.

I guess if we would break the bank for Gyokeres, he could become Amorim his Antony!

Not claiming to be an Gyokeres expert but he wasnt good against PSV and isnt good today either. Not the best of impressions so far.

I’m a big fan of Hojlund. I think he has the tools to be a very good striker here for years to come. And I agree with you, I think he shares a lot of traits with Gyokeres which is another reason why we should avoid trying to sign him.

But I still think we need to sign two strikers to offer some competition (one senior, one junior - or give the junior spot to Chido/Wheatley).

Yeah point taken re having at least 2 strikers (JZ doesn’t seem to be cutting the mustard - both in terms of age/style profile and…he just doesn’t seem very good!).

It’ll be tricky finding a “senior” striker with the right profile & level of quality - within budget.

There’s a reason he’s gone from Coventry to Sporting in his prime. He’s a good striker but he’s nowhere near the top level.
