Viktor Fischer

I know Gudelj from AZ and Nac Brede, he is a good and hard player with a fantastic right foot, hear at Ajax, I expected a little more of him, because last season he was one of the best midfielders in the league. But he brings some much needed power, aggression, height, directness to the team and has 5 goals and 5 assists. I think the best is still to come from him, as he sometimes looks a bit out of place in terms of positional intelligence, and in the tightest areas.

Thanks, it's appreciated. I've been impressed when I've seen him.

Just tapping up their talents at 16 like we did with Fosu-Mensah would be cool.

For talents from Ajax academy, really looking forward to how Bazoer (already there),Nouri and Van der Beek will make the step up.I'd say that Ajax players somehow seem to adapt to PL better than other Dutch clubs (generally).
Van der Beek had a short period in the first team as some few first team midfielders were injured, scored a goal and he played as if he was playing there for years, was good to see. Cerny is currently the best out of them imo, every cameo he gets, he's better than the starters and is a huge threat.

Cerny seems to be very pacey but there's something about him that make me think he wouldn't make it at the very top level of football.

I think it's just as hit and miss as it always is. Memphis being shite doesn't change that. van Dijk, Lens, Toivonen are all fairly naff/at a level relative to their abilities, Pelle, Tadic, and Wijnaldum are all good enough for half decent mid-table sides, and Eriksen, Vertonghen and Blind are probably just a level higher. I don't know if Alderweireld can count, he did go to Atletico first.

I think the fact that none have made the step up to genuine star quality is more indicative of the general decline of Dutch football than Eredivisie talents struggling in the PL.

The interesting players from the Eredivisie right now are Bazoer (Ajax), Tete (Ajax), Perreiro (PSV) and Ziyech (Twente). Pereiro is still very young and inexperienced but he's tall and strong and has a lot of natural ability to control the ball. He needs at least another 18 months in the Eredivisie. Tete and Bazoer are also young, but play very mature already, and I can't think of any reason they wouldn't end up at one of the 10 best clubs in the world when they're about 24.

Ziyech is a brilliant player, a bit of an old fashioned 10 with great vision and great technique. The question is whether he could be brilliant at a higher pace with more physicality too, some players just can't play their game at a higher level and end up playing brilliant at a lower level. Depay for example has difficulty to adapt too, I'm convinced he has the talent to make that step, but he's still busy trying. I'm also impressed with Ziyech's mentality, he's at a club which is practically bankrupt, has sacked the manager and couldn't afford to replace him, the squad is getting thin and unbalanced and the supporters are mad at everything and he is captain and said he wanted to leave which didn't make him very popular. But he doesn't seem to give a shit and keeps the team going and keeps deciding matches himself, without him they would have been relegated by now. It's really a shame he's sold this month because it's a bit early for him to join United.

There are other talents like Sinkgraven, but these days attacking minded players don't develop at Ajax. Just like Fischer, he has been injured for a long time, but also in his decision making there's little progress. Gudelj would be a nice player for a midtable PL club, quite skillful, great shot and a lot of fight in him.

Average talent. Will amount to very little.

Are you serious?

Well I live in Holland to, maybe that's because of the fact that everyone is so critical of everything and everyone at Ajax, players who are playing well, get slammed down to the ground after every bad game. Fischer has been injured for 1.5 years and showed already in his first season that he's a huge talent, now in his comeback he's already picked up serious form, scoring 5 out of 6 from the wing, could even be more. He still has loads of progress to make but the fact that he could go to every club in the world aged 15, was the best of his age group at 18, already international at that time, got seriously injured but now continues where he left from, shows for me that he's a serious talent. I wonder what your standard for average talent is.

I don't believe he will make it at a big club (United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Barca, Real, Bayern), and it would already be a surprise for me if the transfers to one. He could be a good subtop club player.

Based on?

What he has shown so far.

What could he actually have done far better being realistic? He had an awesome debut season, then struggled (basically every big talent from the Eredivisie has the 2nd season syndrome) in a struggling team, although he was still our most dangerous player basically after match, the goals just werent coming. Then he got seriously injured, when he came back, he was immediately one of the better players at Ajax, scoring goals, creating chances, the season after (this season) he just continues that, scoring (important/good goals), he's productive, has excellent general and link up play and is finding his feet after now actually getting a run due to his fitness. So what would you expect actually from someone who had such an injury? Your entitled to your opinion ofcourse but average talent seems ridiculous to me.

Rotting away on the bench in a very average ajax squad in the lowly eredivisie, our mickey mouse league.

Just saying it's worth it to listen to me every now and then. He is a headless chicken and will amount to nothing.

? Have you ever heard about the word form? All of Ajax's attackers are painfully out of form, something that has got to do with lack of cohesion, bad set up, and confidence. He's shown often enough that he's very talented, not coming out at all at the moment, sad for him.

Aye. He tries a bit too much at times, trying to prove himself to the detriment of the general team.

His stagnation is quite fascinating. Of course he has struggled with injuries. And he most likely lacks the raw pace and physical strength to become a real top player, but he always seemed very eager to improve and there's no denying that he really showed some good quality, especially in his first season. No idea what his plans are, but he should just stay at Ajax for at least two more years.

He does, he wants to influence the team too much or he puts much emphasis on it, for some players it works well (Ronaldo the best example) but now it's starting to look like it holds him back. He needs to play more freely and just back to the basics, especially after such a long injury. He does have the talent imo.

Apparently joining Middlesborough for €5m according to De Telegraff. That came out of nowhere.

He's had huge issues with injuries right? Interested to see how he gets on.

Not much of a surprise really, he's been mostly shite for a while. Injuries haven't helped obviously but even before his first big injury he went off the boil. If he fulfilled his early potential then it'd be a bargain for Boro but he's not been the same for a good few seasons now and I doubt the PL will be any easier for him.

Had a great start in the begining but was injured later on. After that he had his momens but had more cons than pros. Add the fact that Younes was/is better and you will see that Ajax had a decent deal. I hope he will succeed at Boro caus he is talented as feck.
