Viktor Fischer

This lad has been impressing in Ajax's pre season friendlies and got man of the match in the 4-0 win against Celtic looks a great prospect

Dutch champions Ajax are aiming to tie Danish wonderkid Viktor Fischer to a new long-term contract - and stave off reported interest from Manchester United.

It is thought Fischer, 18, has caught the eye of United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and is also being courted by Spanish giants Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.

But Ajax director of football Marc Overmars wants the Denmark Under 21 international to commit his future to the Amsterdam club.

"We believe in him," former Arsenal winger Overmars told Sporten.dk. "Therefore, we are discussing with Fischer about an extension until 2016 at the moment.

"We want to keep him and we have noticed that he has a big potential."

Fischer scored twice on his full debut to help Ajax win 4-2 at Eredivisie rivals FC Zwolle last weekend.96

Voted player of the round, after his two goals in the weekend.
He has just been called up for the Danish national team.
Has been compared to Marco van Basten.

Have to say, he is a huge talent..

I know I may get slated for it, but Fischer impresses me more than Eriksen did at the same age. He's just got that spark that makes him stand out.

As in the Eriksen thread though, I don't want us to buy him. A) Frivolous centralisation of talent is bad for world football, I'm all for kids who stay with their club for as long as possible. B) We've got truly brilliant 18-year olds of our own.

I used to say things like that when Morrison and Pogba were here, but now they've left and you just realise there's so many obstacles ahead of our youngsters. Now I don't care were our young talent comes from. Morrison and Pogba were better than anything we have now, bar Powell maybe, so I'm not holding out much hope.

Signing players like this is the obstacle ahead of our youngsters. Pogba and Morrison are not better than anything we have now. Petrucci has the same potential Pogba had when he left us. The U18's has a couple of players who are as talented as those two. For me, Mats Daehli has more promise than either did at his age.

I can't agree with any of that. Petrucci is not in Pogbas league. People used to say this about Eikrem, which I disagreed with, now look at him. There is a tendency to overhype some of our youngsters, but for once it was justified with Morrison and Pogba. I think Morrison was different gravy to anyone in his group coming up or any of the youngsters on the books now. Daehli is good, but a level below for me.

Fischer's been there what, 2 years? Hardly "his club". Why not have him here instead of Ajax?

What kind of obstacle is that you're talking about? A player that's better than them? How is signing a player that's 18 years old and better than our 20 year old players a bad thing? Petrucci was bought, same as Vermijl, King, van Velzen, Pogba and others.

He scored a goal in the last few minutes tonight also after rounding the keeper. Looks like he has some serious pace. Sign him up Fergie. I'd say every scout in Europe was at that game. Wonder how Strootman played!!

Didnt watch the last section of the game, which includes missing the above video clip. Strootman didnt do anything in the hour or so I watched. In fact Van Bommel was more impressive, including that trick where hes yellow carded and continues to foul people without getting sent off. Ajax were all over them with Eriksson the main man by a long shot. While I was watching Fischer missed 2 or 3 decent chances set up by Eriksson. PSV scored almost out of nothing with a great strike and then Ajax were all over them again. Then I went to watch the Spanish football

You've been saying stuff like this for a while now. You do realise the young kids you are so keen to protect are also young kids signed from other teams right?

All the talk of how rubbish our policy of signing teenage kids because we should be more fair to our great teenage kids we signed from Anderlecht and PSV is a bit baffling. Perhaps we shouldn't have signed Pogba, Januzaj, Daehli or Pereira either, as it was unfair on our Manchester youth.

The Petrucci you are referring to was bought from Roma himself, and the same super-talented Daehli from Molde. If we feel we can't miss out on a kid from Ajax who may play a similar role, why should you care?

As Ekeke said, from the 70 minutes I watched Strootman did nothing. He was fairly anonymous both offensively and defensively. Both Eriksen and Fischer were good, Eriksen was pulling the strings and really making things happen, whilst Fischer received the ball from Eriksen alot. He shows a bit of naivety with some poor finishing when he should have passed to a player in a better position, but overall was good. I wouldn't say he has serious pace, he seems to have the ability to glide past a man though, but I wouldn't back him in a 30 yard sprint for a ball.

A really good start to first team football for him. 3 goals and 3 assists in 4(2) appearances. I hope he gets some minutes in the CL this upcoming round.

He's starting against Real Madrid tonight. Looking forward to seeing him play there :smirk:

How did he play?

He didn't see much of the ball in the first half as Real Madrid were dominating. As a result he drifted a lot around the front three trying to find space for himself. The few times he did get the ball it was because he came deep from his left wing and played it either backwards or sideways. A couple of times he lost the ball a bit too easily I thought. He had one shot which came after he slipped past Nacho and one other Real Madrid player, sadly someone got a touch to it which made it a pretty easy save for Adán.
In the second half Ajax did a lot better with Fischer taking some part in keeping the ball moving around. He had a shot go only a couple of inches past the post. He should arguably have kept it inside, mind. I think he might stressed it a little with the shot.

All in all, he had an alright game for his first CL start (on Bernabeu) he didn't look like he was feeling the pressure, maybe apart from some of his first touches in the first half and that shot in the second.

Thanks Maagge

Has scored twice now against Feyenoord. Still only 18.

I assumed that he was black, is that racist?

Imagine how angry the Ajax fans will be if City start going after him.

Scored against VVV Venlo, his stats are looking pretty good so far.

Christian Eriksen had an alright assist for de Jong's opener.

Tough to tell in the Dutch league, but looks a very good talent.

We have been after him from a young age too, according to reports. But don't think we need him now really unless someone in attack leaves.

Not having that

Yeah right now, Eriksen is probably the better player of them, as he is more experienced. But within a year or two, Fischer will be quality. He is a special talent..

feck it, let's reel 'em both in. 2 pilsnere i en snor.

This is the gem Ajax fans are interested in.

They aren't all that fussed by Eriksen

Probably because they are used to him. He's only got 31 caps and is on his 4th season of first team football whilst being 20 years old.

People who score goals are the ones that get more attention. It's not long ago since Macheda > Welbeck > Cleverley.

I've been to a few Ajax games this season and Fischer definitely looks a talent, but it's Eriksen that has really stood out for me. Watched him closely during the Dortmund game and Eriksen had that touch of class that made him stand out for Ajax despite being slaughtered on the counter by Dortmund...
