Just in general, teams that have won trophies are more likely to win trophies in the future?

I think your take is why he'd join Chelsea then mentioned about trophies. I gave good enough reasoning, I'd think.
United were winning copious trophies up to 2013. You don't think the subsequent car-crash, including falling out of the champions league, and a drop-off in standards of management, affected potential recruitment of the very best players (as opposed to mercenaries or players looking for their one big-club shot, or to try the PL)?

Given the competition for CL places with investment everywhere else, broader higher overall squad quality, players are likely to be even less keen to pitch up to somewhere out of the European spots and looking to make their way back in unless there's a really good justification from that club as to why they're going to win trophies/get CL again (like, say, employing a 'sure-fire' winner, say if Chelsea suddenly appointed someone like Guardiola) . At the moment, Chelsea are a major risk and no recent glamour is going to compensate for that against a non-basket case, rich, CL club with their own heritage...which is where, all being well and Glazers leaving, United will be.

No, no you didn't.

Actually he did and you're just being a dick, Colin.

 There are myriad reasons why players prefer Chelsea than United. Hazard, Ballack and Mikel chose Chelsea, even in our peak era. It's pretty arrogant to think that players should have chosen United over Chelsea, just because we're on the way up while Chelsea is not.

And Chelsea has as much of a chance as United of winning trophies. Probably less for next year, but in the next 5 years (of his contract), who knows?

Osimhen is ready for primetime, not an up and coming striker with promise. Therefore, going to Chelsea who are a mess and not going to be in the CL nor Europa League would be a mistake.

This is good reasoning, the other chap's reasoning was just bollocks.

Only temporarily, if at all, rather than permanently being a dick.

But they probably won't be out of CL for longer than one season.. You'd think?

On the flip side if we are bought by Qatar, and assuming Newcastle make a big stride then it's a mess for Chelsea, Liverpool and obviously league leaders Arsenal who are overperforming.

Who knows with Todd Woodward in charge.

This ain’t Roman Reigns.

Who knows, if you want certain CL football going forward then City are your only safe bet in PL as they won’t miss it for the next 10 years. Outside of PL you have Bayern, PSG, Real and Barcelona, that’s it (unless you want to go to Portugal or Netherlands). Aside from these 5, you could miss or make CL at any other club. Some are more likely to be there than others but it’s never quite 100% or even 80%.

Probably they miss out next year as well. It's City, United, Arsenal, Newcastle, Liverpool and Chelsea fighting for 4 spots

Maybe PSG are a bigger threat now

Florian Plettenberg just keep making shit up. Osimhen literally wants Premier League and there is no way Bayern are going to pay what he's going to cost.

Napoli are more difficult than Spurs/Levy when negotiating a transfer. Koulibaly went for half the price he was quoted at and let's be honest, he's not as good as the hype.

Osimhen will thrive wherever he gets good service and especially at Bayern because he's physically dominant in the best team. That league will not be able to contain him with service from Musiala, Gnabry, etc.

But when has Bayern paid more than 100 Euros for a player, let alone a center forward?

Historically they didn't overspend too much but in recent years they've gotten less shy or hesitant about loosening their pure strings ever so often.

They've spent 80m each on 2 defenders in recent years along with 30m on a 17 year old striker without much first team experience last summer.

I think theyve started to show that if they feel there are opportunities to improve their team with good young talent, they're not above paying over the odds anymore given the realities of today's market.

It's hard to see them stumping the sum that Napoli would demand but if the alternatives are huge sums for a 30 y/o Kane or Kolo-Muani for 100m+ from their domestic rival, I could see them making a competitive offer for Osimhen. They're really only missing a true striker right now and he'd probably be the best long term option on the market to replace Lewandowski.

They have a real knack for locking top young talent down for the long term which is part of why they never really fall off oj the pitch not just domestically but in European play as well.

What do you mean let alone a center forward? Surely if they were to spend over 100m on anyone it would most likely be a forward as they tend to cost more.

Anyway, I feel that we need to get this guy in at United and the sooner our ownership situation is sorted the easier it will be for us to get the required talent in to help Erik push us forward.

Bayern don't tend to spend a lot of money on transfers and if they do want Osimhen, they'll pay a premium or more than typical because he is a CF and because they have a glaring need for a CF.

I don't think Osimhen would be the best fit for United given the fact that Rashford has been made into a primary goal scorer and isn't the best service provider when you compare the setup for Osimhen at Napoli and at Bayern.

Having a good to very good CF this season at United would have netted at least 10 league goals by now.

Napoli are very tough when negociating a transfer. PSG paid a lot for Lavezzi and Cavani.

A few good games in the QF, SF of the UCL and they'll try to get 150+ M€

Oh yeah they are notoriously tough, remember when Koulibaly was at his peak

Would be surprised to see Bayern cough up more than 100m for him.
They really should though. They have a pretty good team all around, not in need of a major rebuild or anything - but they badly need a top class striker. It makes perfect sense for them.

Lets see, Napoli are hard to negotiate with and could price them out.

Unless we get the Qataris in double quick we best focus on bringing in Kane as we’re not outbidding PSG, they’re likely to get rid of Messi and Neymar this summer so will have a lot of money spare.
