Long as we get striker and progressive CM
Strikers are generally the most expensive parts of the puzzle. And that CM won’t be cheap given pool and others need the same.
Long as we get striker and progressive CM
We’ve spent a ton of cash this window, next summer could be really quiet. Fans seem to think it will be another big outlay …we get 4th and the Glazers historically will turn off those taps!
You forget the bit where they end up selling and leave the club (the team) in better nick than expected, sweetening a potential deal. I'm hoping anyway.
The team in better nick but the club a further 100m in debt..the books will prob show 600m/700m in debt as our cash bal was 50m afew months ago before we spent 200m.
Fair enough
It has to, otherwise I would be just a stubborn a-hole. I will admit I didn't expect Antony to happen after the last rejection. Even more convinced Osimhen and De Jong (or anybody else) won't happen after we paid this much for Antony but very happy we signed at least somebody of quality.
In another news - if Ronaldo leaves and considering Martial injury record + how unreliable he is even when not injured, we are seriously f..ed striker-wise? Not sure why a striker wasn't a priority instead of a winger, but - happy it is at least something.
Interesting take. Thank you. It’s basically creation vs. finishing. We chose to get a winger to help with overall play and chance creation. Also the striker market was sort of terrible this summer.
Also I think people really forget the impact of the Greenwood situation on the squad. It’s difficult to have a 100m + level striker prospect just removed from the squad without anything in return. Any club would struggle to replace that quickly.
Don’t think this will happen, unless as others have already said, it’s a loan with buy obligation ala M’Bappe to P$G.
Are we really expected to offer 100m plus Ronaldo on a loan with Salaries paid ? That would be 120m of a deal. That sounds crazy reckless
We’d be paying them 100m plus also paying some of Ronaldo wages. How would we be getting the better deal?Di Marzio’s from Naples so I’m sure he’d be undisputed number one source on anything happening.
I’m not sure how this exchanging of Ronaldo and Osimhen would mutually benefit both teams. It seems like we’re getting a MUCH better deal than Napoli if that happened.

That rumour that we could conceivably get Osimhen on loan with an obligation buy a la Mbappe Monaco-PSG deal, makes a deal like this realistic
Yeah easy to find another €100m for him
Silly logic. The likes of Fofana, Antony and Nunez cannot be expected to become among the top 10 footballers in the sports history just because they cost a lot. The club's are rich and know / accept they overpaid for players they thought they really need.Well, in terms of present and potential future output, there is no way Antony is better than Osimhen? I dare to say, that 90-100m tag on Antony is a silly joke until he becomes the new Ronaldo. On the other hand, Osimhen has both the physical and the technical attributes to lead any attacking line in an energetic way, and he can score for fun.

Not sure about that. It’s us paying €100M and paying Ronaldo’s full salary. How is that getting the much better deal?
Napoli needs money I think. They have been in financial struggle these past couple years. Last summer they only bought/paid transfer fee for one player.Di Marzio’s from Naples so I’m sure he’d be undisputed number one source on anything happening.

The problem is there’s a lack of shortage of good strikers currently, Real still rely on Benzema , Barca settled for 34 year old Lewndowski, Liverpool paid over the odds for Nunez.
Teams that have even half decent strikers at a young age are in a strong position, and are entitled to name their price. Utd obviously didn’t factor in Greenwood being a complete a*s so it’s going to cost 100m to get someone in.
How is this bit relevant? If we get him, pretty sure we have a good team to actually finish 2nd or 3rd. Problem is , we won't spend a penny next year given this would be a loan and we already have spent 200m this year.
How's that not relevant ? If it's a loan with obligation, we end up paying that next year. How is this bit relevant?
Ah.. right.. I read that wrong and thought you were talking about Ronaldo going over on a loan..How's that not relevant ? If it's a loan with obligation, we end up paying that next year.
What if the Glazers saved all the dividends for this moment, as a post-Covid pick-me-up for the fans?
