Great game by Lindelof, I wished he went and aimed at goal during that run late in the game.
No offends, but your post is another example of confusing Whoscored stats with performance. If it was that simple, Tuanzebe was our worst player in the starting XI vs PSG because he got the lowest Whoscored ranking.Stats vs Chelsea

I am really getting tired of this agenda against Maguire. Maguire is our best defender. This isn't my opinion. It's a fact...

These stats reflect a portion of the performance, for sure, but not more than a portion. Lindelof probably got a few ticks in the clearance stats when he cleared some low crosses, but the things he did best will no necessarily be seen in the stats, examples:
Winning back the ball early. Did this several times and I don’t think this is seen in the stats you show. (They are seen in other more extensive stats however). Examples from second half can be seen at 61:55, at 74:05 and 81:20.
Following Werner closely so he didn’t get a chance. Some like this, some don’t but in this match where he mixed it with a more aggressive style it was effective. See 62:20 for example.
Anticipation. Look at 77:15 how he covers for Maguire who missed the ball. Lindelof started that run even before Maguire’s miss because he sa there could be problems if he missed.
He was great at making himself available for a pass during press and to handle the ball during press.
These are some example that come to my mind, where the things he did best is not reflected in the stats.
I tend to agree with your point that stats do not tell the whole story. Lindelof was great last night at guiding the opponent towards safe areas (similar to what Thiago Silva did with Rashford on a few occasions). He also made some great ball carries forward, breaking the lines with dribbling, not only passing. No offends, but your post is another example of confusing Whoscored stats with performance. He was also a clear sign that Ole really went for it as in the second half Lindelof would routinely join the attack to add another body and compress Chelsea further back in their own half. Overall, he did great and was rightfully (in my opinion) voted Man of the Match on the Man Utd official app.
I got that, it’s just that a lot of people take the stats and make that the reflection of the performance. It’s only reflecting a small portion of the game.My post isn't to say anything negative about Lindelof. I thought he was fantastic. It is to lift Maguire because he seems to have a target on his back for some strange reason...
He is not a good defender. Certainly not someone we should be having in our first team.Thought he was a bit better against Chelsea and we saw him bring the ball out of defence multiple times. His passing wasnt great but he was able to step forward into midfield. Much better for him to have Fred and McTominay in front of him, players who cover a lot of ground and want to challenge for the ball. Also hes statistically just about our best CB and 7th of our players overall. He is very rarely anywhere near there so best to mention it while its true because based on his history he wont stay there as we hopefully improve over the course of the season. Maybe he'll improve with the rest of the team this time
It was good to see him join the attack. I think the defence look more in harmony now again and when one CB moves up, he knows he’ll be covered by the others

When it comes to Maguire, I agree with you. Many seem unhappy with him atm. He had some poor games but is back on track again. Without him we wouldn’t be playing CL this season.
That's stuff he always does very well, as well as his communication. The interesting thing for me is that despite Poulsen being very physical, I can't recall Lindelof being bullied more than once. Which is a great improvement from him.Good game. Kept his concentration and was good on the ball despite intense press, only saw one misplaced pass because of the press. Nice to see him help and build the attack by going forward.
Agree, I've been quick to criticize the guy when he has his terrible games. Fair should be fair so I will say this he is proving some of us wrong has been on a great run lately. Long may it continue. He's on a decent run of games at the moment.
Yes there was a lot of talk that he would be bullied and wouldn’t be able to keep pace but never had any problems really. This game, United defenders defended more with “invisible” skills than physical. It was a very good unit,That's stuff he always does very well, as well as his communication. It just may be that him and Tuanzebe (at least the version that showed up at PSG) is a better combo than any with Maguire, both in defending and attacking.
I think individually he and Maguire are both good players, I'm just not sure I like them together. They got a lot of heat earlier on in the season but they were getting absolutely 0 help from the midfield at the time. He's a good player. He gets a silly amount of criticism on here but a-lot of it is agenda driven.
I thought he was amazing. He just seemed very assured and confident on the ball. Not fancy, just assured. He played some really hard passes into Martial. I loved that he finally showed his ability to pass. I think he has made an effort to commit in duels and actually compete even if he loses them or makes a free-kick. I'll take it. Just wanted to let you know A-man.Good game. Kept his concentration and was good on the ball despite intense press, only saw one misplaced pass because of the press. Next time lindelof has a bad game (just like hipster Upamecano did tonight), please can all the hater's remember just how brilliant he has been since Spurs?
Hello old friend.Which CB isnt okay when their workload defensively is 1 tackle, 1 clearance and 1 header? If you arent asked to do much more than that its hard to look weak defensively.
I'm not saying there werent improvements. I actually liked that he gave away a foul or two when the team were out of position rather than the usual he does where he just pretends nobody is out of position and ignores the people he should be covering. So thats a good improvement. On the ball he would dribble past 1 attacker pushing forward a few times which is the best thing he does on the ball consistently at this point
Hello old friend.
I said since spurs, not just tonight.
