We can't be a top team with him and Maguire as our centre backs. We need someone with pace in there.

Decent here and there but doesn't inspire confidence at all. If Bailly can stay fit and cut the insanity out, both big asks in my view, Lindelof should make way as a starter.

I think he’s properly naff so at this point I can no longer be objective about him

First half I thought he did well. After getting booked early in the 2nd half, their forwards seemed to find it very easy to receive passes and drive towards our goal. Lindelof's lack of pace and strength was a bit of missmatch against Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison. Beforehand, I wondered if Bailly would start this game.

He is not a PL CB. You can see how uncomfortable he is on the pitch. He knows it as well.

Iceman nickname has to be a joke surely, he is shitting in his pants every second game. He has no chemistry with anyone, and nobody knows what he is doing or where he is or what he does. He is just randomly and casually playing CB for us most games, without being good enough

I can't quite put my finger on it, but I feel tired just watching him. He looks to be in survival mode all the time. I keep wondering when he's going to faint from the adrenaline rush.

He was outmuscled by Leighton Baines, too physically and mentally weak.
Unfortunately he hasn't progressed a bit after decent last season. Usually forces the other centrebeck to do all defending and doesn't show any outstanding ball-playing skills.

I didnt think he was great today.

It was also quite suprising to see that Lindelof got pushed of the ball during a rebound of an attacking corner. You wouldnt expect that to happen to most centre backs.

It’s the blame game he plays on everyone else that does my nut in. Want to like him but when the pressures on he causes so much panic

The priority has to be attack in the summer but he stands out a mile as a weak link at the back.

Hopefully replaced by Smalling in the summer or Tuanzebe can step up.

That was a facepalm movement. And then he had the gall to complain to the ref.

We need to start playing Bailly week in, week out in order to see if we need to sign another centre half. No way is Lindelof good enough.

Look at that DDG save in the last minute, so much of space was given to Richarlison by this guy and he had all the time to receive it, control it and lay it off to Siggy.

Remember it happened in 94th minute. Feck knows what was the midfield doing as well. We were so open.

He’s Phil Jones level bad. Bailly, Smalling, not to mention Evans and Blind are all much better CB’s than him. Him and De Gea cost us a lot of goals, two soft and weak players without any mental or physical strenght whatsoever, never gonna win a thing with those two at the back.

It's not a overreaction when there's a pattern. There were 3 moments during the game that exemplified his lack of quality which come up again and again and again.

When he gives a corner while trying to drive the ball outside with a player pressuring him. He's not strong enough.

When he gets in the same situation on the attacking end and is overtaken by a smaller guy than him.

Worst one was when he was turnt upside down by Richarlison and gives away a very dangerous free kick. Why was he turnt upside down? Because he shows his back on the inside when every defender worth his salt knows you drive the attacker on the outside and therefore decrease the risks substantially.

He's not at fault for the last minute Everton goal though. That was an exceptional pass from Bernard.

Your expectations are far too low for a Manchester United fan. This is a club that has had exceptional talent in the defense for at least 4 decades in a row.
I personally don’t think he had a great game, even though it wasn’t a disaster. But around here he’s got a lot of haters who exaggerate and think every small mistake is proof of deficiencies.

I think the problem is what you write at the end. People remembering back in the days when Rio played etc and don’t seem to understand that those days are gone. Yes there is one very dominant CB in Liverpool but the league in general is much more competitive now compared to United’s golden days.

I watch a lot of football from different leagues but mostly PL. What you, and many others who seem a little stuck in the past, see as mistakes that exemplify/proof deficiencies with a defender, happen all the time in all matches. Everton is not a weak attacking team. DCL and Richarlison have 13 and 10 PL goals, respectively. Everton have scored against all top teams. They create chances.
So no, my expectations are not “far too low”. They are realistic. United have one of the best defensive records this season and I don’t think that would have been better with Bailly, Smalling, Alderweireld, and who else has been discussed.

He's not good enough, and won't ever be. Time to sell him. Just doesn't have the profile to be a prem defender.

I think his lack of pace and lack of strength is an issue when combined with the lack of pace of Maguire and Matic. People talk about Tuanzabe who has never played regularly at this level who has shown nothing that he is good enough to play at this level. I do not think Smalling wants to come back to United so we may need a top quality CB to sort this mess out.

I wanted Bailly and Romero to play instead of Lindelof and De Gea. I see no reason whatsoever to change my mind for the next game. The reason is I think they are better, simple as that.

We've got the 5th best defensive record in the league, it's not good enough.

He's far too lightweight for the PL. A decent squad player to have on the bench perhaps.

Is probably more suited to La Liga where pace and muscle is not as essential as its needed in the PL

Another one who’ll hang around for years on the basis that “he’s well down our list of problems”. Not sure I ever see him making his way off that list, though.

He's just so weak.

That bit near the end where he had the ball out wide following a Utd corner and he was just easily shrugged off the ball and it went out for a goal kick was so annoying.

I think we should be getting a centre back with pace and physicality to compliment Maguire. In an ideal world that would be Bailly but I don't think he can be trusted.

Weak in the air, lacks pace and upper body strength. Some of the basic requisites of being a top-class defender.

Tuanzebe might turn out well, but as you write , he has not shown to be at this level yet. Also seem very fragile.
I also believe Smalling will leave and he’s not the way to go anyway.

There are three teams with better defensive record. Liverpool are clearly better. Leicester are slightly better (2 goals) but well ahead in the table. Sheffield U are better in that sense but worse overall because they don’t score goals. So, of the teams in position where we want to be there is only Liverpool who are clearly better defensively.

No he is The Iceman...He always melts..

And their defensive record is much better than ours so we need to get much better. Lindelof is not part of the solution.

Muscled off the ball by Baines of all people. Baines. A guy who's a midget compared to Lindelof.

Fecking hell is he terrible at heading the ball. Gets bullied too often and should be replaced with anyone who doesn't get outmuscled in every second duel.
On the rare occasions he wins an aerial duel he almost always seems to head the ball towards the centre of the park, towards the opposition. Never towards the sidelines.

Liverpool are not only better defensively, they are better in every aspect of the game. But it’s weird to read that people want to replace Lindelof with Smalling. Have they watched Smalling play lately? He cost his team 2 or even 3 goals today and cost another handball penalty.

It's like he is wearing contact lenses and he's afraid that they would knocked out.

This might be silly but Blind might be more brave as defender than him, ducking from headers and similar, its a weird thing for a CB, ball playing is all fine and good but those are bacis things, not expecting of him to provide Vidic stuff.

fecking hell it was Baines?

Just pathetic from Lindelof.

He is taller and should be theoretically stronger than him as a CB. But no surprise, 90% of the strikers are handling him with ease physically. A bit like Stones as well. Baines was determined and knows how to use his body, while Lindelöf is strolling around daydreaming and getting bullied.

I bet Angel Gomes is outmuscling him in training.

I like Lindelof but literally anyone could see that he would struggle against the aerial threat of Richarlison and Calvert Lewin. Terrible team selection and in game management from Ole.

It's become a clear tactic from the opposition to try and whack the ball high up and behind Lindelof, running in behind at the same time, because they know how much he struggles with it.
