Just saw an interview with him on Swedish TV. He said he was amazed at the sheer size of the club, he said Benfica was big but this is a whole different level. Said the level of competition is way higher but he's taking things as they come, not paying attention to the press and focusing on improving his game.

Why pay £35m for a defender not even capable of a start in front of Jones or Smalling? even worse he can't make the bench wtf is that about.

I don't think Vidic settled in immediately and he was benched for a while after struggling at the start. Best to phase Lindelof in particularly as he is what, 23?

Chill out. The benefits of having so many defenders is that we can ease Victor in. I am sure he will come good just give it some time.

Now we know who's the next victim of José's bullying of individuals.

1. Martial
2. Lindeloeaf.
3. Herrera

Mhiki is probably totally submissive now after a full year of mental break down. I wonder if players will think twice before putting their signature on a contract with Man United when they see all the things going on. I don't think people fully understands or can accept what is going on. Just look what happened at Chelsea and the picture will get a bit clearer. Their squad had some strong individuals who wouldn't stand for his bullying of players.
:lol::lol:

We wouldn't have bought another CB otherwise. We already had 5 at the club.

I don't think that means it's clear that either are off.

Rojo is recovering from a very serious injury, there's no guarantee he will return from injury and be ready to play to the same level he played at last season straight away, or even at all.
Also we seem to be willing to play 3-5-2 more often, which means that Bailly, Smalling & Jones would have been the only available experienced CB's available (I don't think he's playing Blind there again unless there's another injury crisis) before Lindelof came in.

Another signing who needs to "adapt". Great. Just fecking great.

We're going to be fine defensively with or without Lindelof.

Some players need time to adapt, wishing that wasn't the case won't change the way football works.

I reckon Mourinho will be accused of bullying Bailly by you in our first Champions League game.

No, Bailly is submissive and will get the go ahead to do whatever he wants.

Other players who can do whatever they please; Fellaini, Valencia, Rojo, Romero, Young, (Ibra). All these players have Mourinho's certificate.

Nothing to be embarrassed by Jones being better, he always had a high ceiling and still does if he can stay fit.

Wondered if he might be benched today after he really struggled against Real, but not even on the bench.
Stuck him in my lineup prediction anyway, although I did think that if Lindelof didn't start it would be Smalling in beside Bailly.

Im not allowed to embed tweets but the swedish reporter doing the interview with VNL on Viaplay tweeted that VNL had to stop the interview 3 times cause he had problems with his throat.

I am talking about our signings in last couple of years. Depay, darmian, morgan, shaw, herrera, falcao, miki....

And I'm talking about this summer which is now. If you want to go back then include the likes of Vidic, De Gea, Evra as well then.

Even the player you have your name was not an instant success. That's generally not what the club is about.

He will come good, the talent is there to see and what fills me with confidence is that he has a good mentality. People need to chill, Vidic was shit for 6 months.

I think Bailly and Jones suspensions for Europe have meant a change ini Joses plans. We will see him and Smalling in Europe (as thats the only partnership he can have right now). But I think thats the worst partnership he could have from the players we have.

Glad Jose also realized that Lindelof was the least impressive CB this preseason.

Smalling, Jones and Bailly are currently better than him. Rojo, if he can get back to where he was is better than him.

Good to have the depth though. Rojo, Jones and Smalling get injured. Bailly gets carded. Lindelof...gets beat and makes a nice pass occassionally.

I'm ok with that.

You dont know that

He will have to make do with the League cup and FA Cup. Cant see Jose rotating his CB's very much and he is behind the others right now

It's a long season and he will get his chance. No need for panic stations.

It's best to keep him away from pressure now as he looked very nervous and unsettled in the preseason and Super Cup, so no reason to keep playing him especially if we have already performing players in his position.

Lindelof will come good but not now. He needs time to settle first and he'll get it.

If he doesn't play a single game this season, and Jones plays like he did today, I really wouldn't care! New shiny toys bore me.

But realistically, he needs to take his shot when he gets it. Jose won't have time for weak minds and fragility. Mistakes are fine, but crumbling under the weight of them can't happen.

"You'll find me here from now on".

At least his missus is taking it the right way :D

I'm not worried at all. He will come good eventually.

The only thing I don't understand was the insistence to buy a CB this summer. We had 4 CBs (Bailly, Jones, Smalling, Rojo) with 2 more players being able to play there in the case of emergency (Blind, Darmian) and a talented young player waiting for chances too (Tuanzebe). Despite a massive injury crisis last season our defence coped well.

I just feel we created unnecessary competition for now. With that many CBs, some will have to be excluded from the match squad altogether.

Wise up. The PL takes a while to get use to. How many times do we have to remind people of Vidic and Evras shaky starts?
Look, i know that. When we bought martial, shaw, depay i knew that it will be the case.
But when you are buying a player for first 11, to solve your specific problem , in this case in defence, in a season when you are going all in for title then you need immediate impact. That is why i am pissed. Imagine that we bought striker that needs to adapt. Caf would explode.

He's going to have to improve fast if he's going to make it at United. Jose has shown at previous clubs, if you aren't up to task don't think a transfer fee means you play.

He's young and well scouted, and offers us something slightly different. He might even be a key cog the times we play 3 at the back as the player that can step out the best. We will see what the season as a whole brings. We will play 50+ games this season and lads here having a meltdown that he isn't starting 1 when we have 6-7 centre backs

He is going to find it very hard to get into the team if Bailly and Jones can remain fit and continue in the kind of form they have shown in partnership today and throughout pre-season too.

Guess Lindelof has nothing to worry about then.

Signing Lindelof was no different then signing those 3 players you mentioned. I mean he is a 23 year old centre back who's never played in England.

We've bought plenty of strikers who needed time to adapt, you just named one yourself.

Without him we still have Smalling Jones and Bailly as the senior CBs. Much easier to give him time than to someone like Mhki last season.

I'd much rather ease him in. There's no point in sending him out there and just completely destroying his confidence.

It might look a bit odd considering we could use a fullback more, but let's remember that Jones is always hurt, Smalling can't pass and Rojo had a fine season but is also out for another 4-5 months and before last year he was kind of a goddamn maniac who made a huge error or took an insane risk every second game or so. Blind does provide a lot of what it seems Lindelof would (passing, reading the game well), though, I can't really argue with that.
