VAR and Refs | General Discussion

VAR does way more bad than good - absolutely useless.

Install fully automated offside, keep goal line technology, remove VAR, and move on.

Wondering what kind of people can watch a replay and see the defender not hit the ball, but kick the attacker in the leg, and decide it's a corner?

Am I gone mad or something, genuinely thought there was barely a decision to be made, clear a pen as you'd get.

Every single VAR incident should have a clear explanation.

Not hiding behind phrases and terms like “didn’t reach the required bar to overturn” and shit like that but actually an explanation as to why it didn’t.

Once again glossed over at half time. One replay, one pundit saying it wasn’t a penalty. The media coverage of our games is a constant bias these days.

I had a game from the Danish Superliga on in the weekend. They actually had the referees communication live on TV during VAR checks. Right or wrong decisions, at least you got to hear the refs logic and reasoning.

Checked our goal longer than the penalty when it was abundantly clear there was no foul.

And the second half foul on Garnacho looked even more obvious but didn’t even seem to get a review?

Obviously I’m happier the less that VAR is used but we do seem to be getting screwed over by it more than most.

I really didn't think that Garnacho's one was obvious. It was a complete mess and to me it looked like he fecked up the chance himself — at least live. Amad's one looked stonewall though but they haven't shown many replays... why is the question though.

There was one angle shown on uk tv that showed amads knee being clearly clipped first.
It was very obvious.
Not sure what var were looking at though.
Maybe they’d missed bake off last week

I thought the Amad and Garnacho challenges were both pens last night. I still can't believe the Amad one wasn't given. It will be forgotten about because we won, but it really was a horrendous decision.

The sickening thing which you can’t help but laugh about is Liverpool get a bad decision against them once and enjoy months and months of favourable decisions to balance it out.

David Coote makes an absolutely appalling decision against us and to balance it out, VAR refuse to make him come over to the monitor again and it’s Liverpool that benefit.

According to one of our residential Liverpool fan Watkins kicked Konate..
Bradley was well just move on nothing to see..

Rule (and believe it or not, refs say THAT IS a rule) which i just can't accept is; "anywhere on the pitch it is a foul but not in penalty box".
Where is logic in that? Foul is foul, ffs.

Yeah, that’s a wee bit annoying alright.

I don't watch Liverpool all that often, but I've caught a few of their games this season. I remember clear shirt pulling against Palace that didn't result in a penalty. A shirt pull yesterday too and a separate occasion where Konate fouled Watkins. Neither were given. There was one a few weeks ago too where Alexander-Arnold quite clearly caught Sancho and got none of the ball. That's 4 penalties not awarded and that's only from the few matches I've seen of them this season.

A different set of rules apply to the scouse, always have done.

Another dogshite ref.

Bruno gets clattered in the box, no pen. 10 seconds later he jumps into a defender, foul given.

Martinez forced to leave the pitch, even though you're allowed to continue if the opponent is carded. Leicester get a big chance during the minute he was off.

Garnacho is down injured after getting stamped on his hand. He let's the play restart and Leicester have another dangerous attack.

Seriously though, this kind of shit happens way too often for it to be a coincidence.

Looks like a big error with the semi automated offside technology disallowing a Barca goal, getting the feet of the attacker and defender mixed up.

Isn’t the entire point with semi automated offside technology that they will do a visual confirmation that it has identified the correct points?

If the ref needs to look at the same angle 8 times to make a decision then it isnt a clear and obvious error

What I don't understand is how, when looking at what happens, the VAR doesn't seem to understand Semedo created the contact deliberately.

I would understand this had it been the other way around, if Semedo was attacking and trying to buy a penalty for example - I could see how a ref would be duped into giving a pen and hope VAR then corrected him.

As it is though, it's just ridiculous. A defender makes no attempt to play the ball but takes out his man, who is attacking the ball and in a good position to score, someone else then scores and somehow it is a foul against the attacking team?

As ever, the people on VAR simply are not good enough.
