VAR, Refs and Linesmen | General Discussion

Not a good look for him. Could be some pretty serious repercussions for that. Hard to tell when it was filmed but surely when Klopp was still in charge, and not sure they'd social distance joke if it wasn't around Covid times. Maybe 2021?

So somehow, despite Cootes being the ref who wrongfully gave a penalty against us, then wrongfully refused Villa a penalty against Liverpool, Liverpool are going to come out of this as the victim

Perfect timing, just 2 days after he denied Villa 2 penalties at Anfield.

Excellent stuff.

As an official you can't be seen to be in a position of bias.

Yep. I don't think he genuinely lets his bias get in the way of making decisions, but this video means pretty much every 50/50 decision he makes going forward open to question.

Especially given his history, he was responsible for the VVD/Pickford incident as well as the Odegaard handball...

I don’t see the issue.
Yep. Jurgen Klopp is a cnut, and was a particularly big cnut to 4th officials.

Shouldn't have to face any punishment for a factually correct statement.

Massive online focus on him waving through the foul on Salah when Nunez scored the opener as confirmation of his bias. Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere but here he denied Villa at least one very clear penalty, probably one.

Liverpool the victims in this one.

Not like Liverpool needed any extra help in the league this year but now every ref will be walking on eggshells in their games. Give a decision against them and they will delve into your life to ruin you.

Him thinking Klopp is a cnut is fine, referees are human and naturally there will be managers and players who they can't stand and others that they like but while you're employed, don't go saying that to strangers, let alone on camera. Saying it on camera and calling him a German cnut on camera is while still employed is pretty crazy though. Him looking like he's high as a kite probably doesn't help with his decision making.
