Pienaar's injured I think.
Not included in their Europa League Squad. If we needed an extra man in January we could do a lot worse

If we do need an extra man we probably shouldn't be targetting a lazy, unfit primadonna who's no longer wanted at Spurs.
I'm glad you guys are making the mods happy with picking an already existing thread. Good job!
erm...thanks?
I can only wonder at how you've managed to reach this bizarre conclusion ........ no longer wanted at Spurs.

Well that would be because someone told me that he's not included in the Europa squad. You know, the post I responded to?
If there's more to it than that then I wouldn't know about it. I haven't been following Spurs very closely this season. Not all that bothered about the fortunes of mid-table clubs tbh.
He's out for six weeks after tearing his hamstring I think, so the reasoning probably is he'll miss 3 of the games anyway, and there must be doubts about whether he can play more than 1 game a week. It's not because they don't want him at the club.
He's injured for quite some weeks, no? Might be the reason not to include him.Well that would be because someone told me that he's not included in the Europa squad. You know, the post I responded to?

He's being injury prone most of the time he's been at Tottenham. Thing is when he plays he tends to make an impact.
However, after seeing specialist Dick van Toorn in his homeland, Van der Vaart is confident that he will be back in action much sooner than expected, and could possibly even play in this Sunday's Barclays Premier League match against Liverpool at White Hart Lane.
In a section headlined 'annoying' on his personal website, Van der Vaart wrote: 'I still think it's a peculiar situation.
'Spurs could at least have consulted me. Anyway it's up to the point of no return. I will be focusing on the game against Liverpool.
Vaart needs to accept Spurs is his level.
He comes across as a lad who wakes up everyday feeling great shame he's not at a bigger club.
I'm not sure that's true though.
Van Der Vaart might've been told 'you're not a regular starter' and interpreted it in his own way, while Tevez has been told the same thing, and it's just because there are better players ahead of them both.
I think the situations are likely to be fairly similar.
Who is a better player ahead of VDV?
VDV was playing behind the main striker, which is where Defoe played last game but he's not behind Defoe, he started all the games till he was injured. He always had Modric and someone else behind him, it's not like he's competing with Modric.
I would think he'd still be first choice to play in the hole with Adebayor ahead and Modric and Parker behind.

That's a very weak line of reasoning.
It's pretty obvious that he isn't in the Europa group phase squad simply because Harry wants to focus on the league and save VdV for that .... and to play several youngsters in the Europa.
But no, you jump to the bizarre conclusion that VdV - the guy who was our top scorer last season - is suddenly no longer wanted by the club.
That post was made when VDV was at Madrid!
I do wonder whether having VDV hinders them in some ways though, whether they'd just be better off going 433 with Sandro, Parker and Modric as the middle three.
Why is it stupid to give a chance to some Spurs youngsters in the Europa group phase?Yeah, silly me. I should have realised it was a typically comedic bit of idiocy from the Spurs management team, as outlined in the Daily Mail article above. If in doubt, go with Spurs doing something stupid.
Why is it stupid to give a chance to some Spurs youngsters in the Europa group phase?
Why is it stupid to save VdV for league matches for the time being?
Why is it stupid for the manager (and not the players) to decide which players should play in which matches?
If Spurs reach the later stages of the Europa competition, then perhaps Harry will decide to commit a few more senior players - including VdV - to the competition. But until then VdV's ommission makes obvious good sense.

Is Parker going to be playing regularly for Spurs this season?
You think Liverpool and Arsenal are so much better that Spurs can't get 4th?
I think they're the underdogs, but far from impossible.
Liverpool will be far more consistent this season with the team they have got. Spurs need a lot of luck to get the fourth place.
