Doesn't matter that much if Bale were to want to leave.
I didn't say Bale couldn't force a move, so please don't put words in my mouth.
No need to put anything in your mouth, it's already there.
But even if he did want to leave, he could only force it through IF Spurs got a massive pay-off - just as happened with Berbatov. Berbatov virtually went on strike and had far less time remaining on his contract than Bale. That didn't stop Levy refusing to sell until the 11th hour, when 30.25m was finally offered and accepted for a player who was, at the time, 6 years older than Bale is now.
Or Bale can quite happily rot in the reserves in order to secure a move to say Real Madrid a year down the line. He's got time on his side after all.
I say again, for a club that doesn't want to sell and doesn't need the cash, the price would be whatever Spurs say it is, take it or leave it. And you can bet your bottom dollar that the price would be massive.
It'd be just the same for Bale, except this time you could forget any bids that didn't start at well over 30m and proceed rapidly northwards from there. Don't think he's worth it? Fine. you don't have to think he's worth it: what you might think he's worth and what you'd have to pay to get him are two entirely different things ... and a lot of Caftards seem unable to grasp this reality.
Conjecture. I think you underestimate Levy's flexibility. He's a pretty tough negotiator, but when you got him up against the wall he caves just like anyone else. I admit it's tricky to get him there.
Anyway, this is getting boring.
