Colbert on Friday reported that 49% of the donations to Romney were from 22 people. The suggestion was that these 22 people were being allowed to buy a candidate.
 
Think once Obama gets into things, it'll be the same for him(despite individual contributions being a big factor for him last time), Warren Buffet will be a major contributor.

Not exactly true but I see where you're coming from. More than likely it buys them a job in his administration if he were to win.

I heard a report on NPR that sussed out the number$ as they stand a few days ago. The telling bit was that though Obama was getting comparable dough already, it was largely coming from the <= $200 donations whereas Romney's were from just a few heavy hitters. I expect someone on here can find a clever graph or summat.

Just saw no delegates are actually won tonight. So no one really wins or loses here.
 
As much as I dislike Romney I do respect the way he and his father achieved their success. He is a half decent guy deep down but a bit of a fake republican cock on the outside. Obama will chew him a new one mind.
 
Saw the tweets that said, with 60% of the votes counted, Romney had drawn level at 37%...I go away for 45 minutes, and he fell back again?
 
Its really ominous that Romney didn't win Colorado. He trounced McCain with 60% of the vote four years ago. Furthermore, there are good number of Mormons in the northern and western parts of the state. For me, this is a sign that Conservatives (Mormon or otherwise) are really apprehensive about Mitt, to the point where they may not be sufficiently energized to turn out to vote on November's election day.

Newt wasn't on the ballot in one of the three states. Knowing his ego, he's likely to interpret Santorum's wins as a sign that voters prefer a conservative over a moderate, which will be a sign to him that he's still in it.
 
Surely conservatives can appreciate though that, even as he will inevitably swing to the centre when he wins the nomination and therefore away from their ideals, Romney presents their best chance of knocking the devil out of the White House?

Why are they still voting for nutters like Santorum?

Because for some, Romney is no better than Obama, to them ROMNEY is a RINO(which is true tbf).

You have to be pretty motivated to vote in the primaries, we're talking some 10% of the numbers that will be counted in the Presidential race for each party. My impression is that it's the more extremist and especially the more evangelical elements that are backing Santorum. He passes the 'Real Evangelical Nutter' acid test better than the others, as Iowa proved.
 
CPAC Zombies do NOT like Gov. Mitt Romney

As the Clown Car pulled up to meet at the Washington Marriott Wardmen Hotel, this past week... I took the opportunity to bring my new chief editor for Occupied News Network to this event to get a feel for rank and file conservative voters...

To summarize the general feeling - There were lots of sad faces surrounding the clown car at CPAC. The person in the video below captures the general distaste for candidates like Governor Mitt Romney. Romney has the money edge on all the other candidates, and the conservatives were not pleased with Romney being a flip-flopper and the best chances of going up against Obama.

This pretty much sums the Conservative anxieties with Romney. They know he's an unelectable flip-flopping moderate.
 
That's bollocks, Romney is electable, unfortunately. The primaries have shown him to be less smooth than was thought, but he's still clever, good-looking, untouched by scandal, and his record is moderate by US standards. Plus he has highly presidential hair.

If unemployment keeps falling it's Obama's. But that's not in his hands... next week we may find out if the Euro's fecked once and for all. If it is, the US recovery will probably fail, and then we'll see how unelectable Romney is.

One normally needs a strong degree of support from the base in order to win a general election. For example, Romney is polling exceptionally poor in the south to where Obama may actually retain states like Virginia and North Carolina.
