I dont understand LA and Florida. They're coastal, urban places that should be enlightened and liberal, but seem to have ended up being the havens of the really rich, blinkered, holiday homing type cnuts that hate foreigners despite being surrounded by them. They're like the Kensington of America.

Or the alastair of the Caf.

Wankers

Yeah but surely they are full of retired old majors, ie DM heartland?

How old were you in 2004, Liam?

Only 11. So just old enough to recognise what was going on. At 15, at the time of his exit, I was certainly old enough to know what was happening, and I don't recall it being like that.

But we did have an American poster saying this was the first time they'd been genuinely worried by the outcome of an election, which shows I'm right in some respects. I'm not saying it's all, or even most, but some people obviously feel much worse about Romney than they did Bush.

It's inevitable. Florida should go to a recount I think

If it's in 1% I think it automatic recount. So looking that way right now. Probably won't matter. I think Raoul had it right above.

What the feck was that about on the beeb? 'The league of women voters'? been some time since the Pankhursts surely...

Florida might go back to Obama's favor as it is said the majority of the Miami area counties haven't tallied all their votes, and it tends to lean heavily democrat. That bodes very well for Obama.

So is this 'electoral college votes' thing broken down on pure population alone or is there more too it?

Are you even old enough yet to recognise what's going on now Liam? :smirk:

Umm NC, VA, and Florida had a few recent polls showing a big lead or Obama in Va, and a big lead in Florida too.

I'm talking about the aggregates. It's 2012 man, no-one pays any attention to individual polls.

538, Princeton, Votamatic all had FL about 50-50. Nate and Drew called it for O, Wang for R, but they were all just tossing a coin.

More too it, each State gets a number of electoral college votes equal to the amount of Senators (always 2) and Representatives (dependent on population) it has. Washington DC also gets 3.
