Obama's doing very well in Florida.

Rabidly leftist?
All my Tory friends and relatives are backing the Democrats in US elections.

This site has a huge left wing bias- those myriad of threads about where you sit on the political spectrum showed 90% are 'libertarians', ie non-higher rate taxpayers.

I'm off to bed.. Knew this would be over by now..

Obama is winning Florida and Ohio, thus winning the elections.

It's a tricky one though if you want to do it without being too blunt or patronising.

Libertarians? Wrong word?

I am just slightly left of centre but very much Libertarian according to those political spectrum graphs.

Clueless

My professions wage is significantly higher than most people. Funnily, most of my profession is quite left wing as well.

Actually now you mention it, I'm a personal finance journalist and about 80% are fecking Labour...A lot of champagne socialists among them though.

60% in for Florida now and O still winning by 100k+

The problem is most people including Reagan are/would be considered left wing compared to the current GOP

It's not really Mitt, it's his party. They're currently largely mentalists.

This is true, Plech. Most Americans aren't exactly steadfast towards either side (well the extreme version of either side). Though with that said - the 'teaparty' or Romney being a Mormon haven't helped him amongst the moderates. No matter what his message is, the party hasn't done itself any favours with the 'middle' by nominating such a polarizing figure.

Though, either way that this turns out it doesn't exactly bode well for the US. The extreme right wing, even if they lose will have gotten a 'moral victory', ala City or Le Arse (Liverpool). The Left will have gotten an extremely close victory which moves them closer to center, politically, rather than moving on their ideals. If (when) the Right retains the house, it will still be a long road ahead to get anything done.

The plus side of that is that it's better than the worst case scenario. Also, if one was to look back through history it could be argued that no President has ever gotten anything done of any magnitude under a single term. So hopefully, if Obama does win he won't be up against re-election and will be able to concentrate on policy ~ thus giving him 3.5 years to work as opposed to 18 months, without the 'red tape' and bureaucracy involved in getting things done in his first term with re-election on the horizon and a partisan house making every single thing not only difficult but a compromise as well.

Libertarians? Wrong word?

It was one of the blunt terms that came out to 'assess' your political stance. I think most people fancied themselves as some cad-like Johnny Depp libertarian. Sounds cooler than a socialist worker or a Tory boy I guess.

Plech, you relaxed yet? It's going well.

BlueCafe would've sounded all wrong anyway.

The term libertarian annoys me given its associations conflict so much with the heavy state intervention that is so associated with left wing governments.

Maybe so, and If so I'm nothing but happy and proud.
Just wanted to say that all the decent Tories I know couldn't ever imagine voting Romney. It's not just left wing/conservatives; it's decent/rabid. Hence Republicans for Obama.

Ditto, I voted Tory in the last election but find Romney a whore's abortion.

Even just Ohio would be enough. Need to remember ROmney needed every swing state. it's over.

Libertarian may have been the wrong word, but the caf certainly is left-wing.

Certainly the wrong word. The Caf makes the Green party look moderate at times.

Maybe. But without moving to bring in some blacks, women and particularly Hispanics, the GOP are in demographic trouble next time round (unless Mitt wins and the economy's booming).

He may not be up for re-election, but congressional Dems will, and therein lies the problem.

Big swing to Romney in Wake Co (Raleigh) probably puts North Carolina out of reach for Obama. On Twitter
