Not precisely, but if passed, Prop 36 changes it so that it will only result in a mandatory life sentence if the third "strike" is a "serious or violent" felony, and if none of the strikes were rape, murder, or child molestation.

was watching Chris Hayes and apparently this has the support of Grover Nordquist

..reduce incarcerations..thus less funding for prisons...?

must say that some of these Props in California seem ..out there and confusing to say the least.

now do they need to exceed 50% to succeed?

we have two ballot initiatives here.

The marraige amendment that says it is onlt between a man a woman.

and the voter Id law which we all love.

if they are left blank, it acts a 'no' vote....apparently.

But I am voting No anyways on both.

Shit. These newfangled statistical forecasts may be looking good for Obama, but on the other hand, Peggy Noonan's seen a shitload of Romney yard signs:

There is no denying the Republicans have the passion now, the enthusiasm. The Democrats do not. Independents are breaking for Romney. And there’s the thing about the yard signs. In Florida a few weeks ago I saw Romney signs, not Obama ones. From Ohio I hear the same. From tony Northwest Washington, D.C., I hear the same.

Is it possible this whole thing is playing out before our eyes and we’re not really noticing because we’re too busy looking at data on paper instead of what’s in front of us? Maybe that’s the real distortion of the polls this year: They left us discounting the world around us.

:nervous:

when I was driving back home, I saw these bunch of people on top a bridge waving American flags and holding up a sign saying 'Benghazi' on it....

I'm sure that will help someone make up his/her mind...

Even today, on election day, Benghazi isn't over.

:nervous:

I did not put any Obama stickers on my car nor any yard signs....

too much emotion..and some crazy rightie might do some damage to my car or my home.

But I do have a great United stiker on my car window....a desperate scouser could throw some shit though.

Breathe easy, fellas

If it eases any fears a bloke on Irish national radio earlier stated emphatically that Obama would be elected. When pressed for a reason he said that Romney "doesn't look like someone who believes he will be elected".

So there you have it.

Even today, on election day, Benghazi isn't over.

It's a sign of what Jon Chait calls the Republican Closed Information Loop that they think the mere word BENGHAZI will be enough to make people vote against Obama. Because in Limbaughland, that word mean 'massive, impeachable government cover-up'.

Jonathan Bernstein pointed this out with their Solyndra obsession. They think just saying 'Solyndra' is enough to evoke this whole world of socialist scheming against America. It isn't guys... hardly anyone knows what the feck it means.

She was one of the few that I remember pointing out that the "47%" remarks were not helpful.

It's not an election issue or perhaps i ought to say an Obama one.

However if it were a British consulate and the FCO, MoD or MI6 had been reported to be neglectful or misleading, there would be questions raised and rightly so [perhaps calls for resignations].

So there are valid concerns in there, only like with Fox's daft attempts to compare Sandy to Katrina, Obama's presidency shouldn't be in play over it.

Solyndra and Benghazi....those are the two things that will stick with me over anything else when remembering this election, despite both of course being massively irrelevant.

I'm more confused than anything by what has come out so far.

If there had been something major surely Darrel Isa would have brought it up by now.

If you are a likely Democratic voter and live in Wisconsin, you might be getting a call from Obama in a minute. Don't hang him up. lol

It shouldn't have anything to do with it, let alone be in play over it. I've never seen so much bullshit over something like Benghazi, and that's at this point, forget about the immediate days or weeks following the event, where despite not knowing anything, the right were treating this like an attack by Obama himself.

I've driven past the Solyndra factory a few times. It is fecking huge and very shiny. It's no wonder they pissed through all that money.

Last night watching TV I felt like that kid on the "Bronco" Bama video. Every freaking commercial break nothing but some advertisement from some political candidate. Since I live in NY State I was spared the Presidential ones, but the two pruned face bitches running for the local House of Rep seat were driving me nuts. Though I did manage a quick sexual fantasy during the one Gillibrand advert.

Desperate people take desperate measures.......I mean the right BTW, not Obama ;)

This election should have been put to bed long ago. The GOP were pretty much conceding before the first debate. They know they don't have much of a chance and there desperation showed with the political attacks following Benghazi.

I'm in Minnesota.

I got a call from a Romney canvaser though...think he knows I am voting for Obama :)

btw the polling stations have been so packed this time around.

Where I live it is usually so 'light'. wonder if it will be packed too. Leaving a bit early to vote this evening.

is it 11? I've written them all down anyway, incl the school board ones. there's too much to vote on without my cheat sheet.

I'm good on the propositions. without divulging which way I'm voting, suffice to say some are worthwhile, some not.

Yep, 30 through 40. You don't have to divulge if you don't want to, naturally, but I'm voting yes on 30, 34, 36, 37, 39 and 40.

Yes, but it's 50% of votes cast, e.g. if you don't vote either way on a prop, your ballot isn't counted for that issue.

Missouri, can the democrats take Missouri?

Ah, well Obama is too confident of your support, maybe he'll send you a text or tweet instead. ;)

What time do the polling stations close where you are?

There have been a few reports referring to high turnout, maybe the percentage will be close to the 08 figure in the end [i didn't think this would be so earlier mind].

Our Sec of State (a Democrat)was saying, you need to be in the voting line by 8.00 pm Central Time.

Once in line they have to allow you to vote. But Minnesota is very effecient in voting and we never have delays.

I expect MN will called right after polls close.

Yup. We are a safe Democrat state for National elections even if we have had Republican legislatures and governors.

Its because Minneapolis the biggest city is solid Democrat.

If anybody hears anything definitive about the McCaskill vs Akin result please do post about it.

ETA: Just seen RD's post.

You're alright with that GMO labelling one then?

Yeah. I'm not sure it's likely to have that big of an effect either way, but more information is never a bad thing, and the idea the 37 opponents have been pushing that changing the labeling will somehow raise grocery prices is an insult to my intelligence akin to the insurance companies telling me they want to pass 33 so they can give people a discount.
