Reality does have a liberal bias!

Yup, they tended to have higher Obama scores than the averages, but the final results tended to be that way as well. Partly why I think NC is closer than it looks and Florida could swing his way as well.

'12 or '08?

The one they just put out, Obama was up 2 with men and women, only won 88% of african americans, up 8 with indies. I know all this stuff is noise mostly but still reason to doubt the white vote figure. The top-line number seems to be what the consensus is moving towards.

Also why cannt the U.S. have a federal voting act which makes the voting times, dates etc uniform across the States to limit the prejudice of local officials?

Requires a constitutional amendment with three-quarters of states in favour, so basically the states have to cede power to the federal govt. Never gonna happen.

Interesting.

Just had a look at the pdf, and you're right, it's very, very screwy. I think they're heavily oversampling Black Mormon women!

PPP NC poll : Romney 49.4, Obama 49.2

Ok, they are biased.

Interesting.

You might be on to something there. There were rumours Mitt was mobilising some kind of Mormon army...

They just released their final NC poll, Mitt up by 0.2!

I see that good old Paddy Power have paid out on an Obama win.. can always trust Paddy Power to go for the publicity stunts- not that it isn't almost stuck on now.

Thank you for this; I'll try to stay calm. I'm not even American but want Obama to win so much!! I just saw the huge lines to vote in Florida early voting today and started to have flashbacks to 2000 and Ohio in 2004. Just hope there are no more dirty tricks by the repubs. Also why cannt the U.S. have a federal voting act which makes the voting times, dates etc uniform across the States to limit the prejudice of local officials?

In the end it's really 51 entities voting for the POTUS. So each state has it's set of rules. No big deal really.

But then doesn't it mean biased elected officials can influence the vote in their State and that should not happen. I'm thinking of that stupid woman in Florida in 2000 who had a huge impact.

Or the even stupider woman, Sup. Court Justice, Sandra Day O'Connor who hilariously insisted the recount be shut down because of the Equal Protection Clause...

I think you need to go look up "stupid" in the dictionary. Because, she definitely doesn't come under that bracket whatever your political opinion might be.

What amazes me in this thread that some US citizens can't come to terms with the fact that almost 50% of their fellow citizens share different values, and willing to vote in a different president. Instead they will blame the system, ignorance, deception and lies on behalf of the other 50%.

Who can't come to terms with it? I'm just calling them nasty(but truthful) names for doing so.

I just want to 'take back' America from them

You don't have the tiniest clue what you're talking about, do you?

EDIT:

If you're going to edit your posts, you should do it before you get quoted.

Alright, Baby Murdoch, here's a bunch of things you don't have a clue about:

1.Figurative speech. If you read the post it was referring to, you might notice that the word 'stupid' wasn't used to connote 'unintelligent', but 'biased', as in 'biased officials'. The exact charge to be laid at O'Connor's door.

2.The Florida recount. Plainly.

3.The US electorate. The majority of American voters are actually far closer to the Dems on most issues than the Repubs. Such as higher taxes for the wealthy, preservation of Medicare and SS (no vouchers), jobs for veterans, consumer protection, no offshoring of jobs, deficit reduction (tax increases coupled with spending cuts), environmental protection, regulation of Wall St., minimum wage, less income inequality, consultation with allies before starting wars, cheaper college loans, Fannie and Freddie. As I said before, Americans are conservative in the abstract, but progressive on the specifics.

Now, supposing one was considering following the election night from Norway. How late do you reckon it will be before there's a reasonable idea? Obviously I'm 98% expecting Obama to win anyway. I actually have a good excuse for staying up to follow it (even wasting the entire next day for it), as I'm having a course on American Studies right now, and my assignment is Obama vs Romney. Easiest. Term paper. Ever.

Probably Sunrise your time, as polls in California won't be closing until late in the evening. Even though the west coast states are essentially Obama's, the final announcement of who won the election wont be made until one candidate reaches 270, and if its Obama, he will certainly need California to be done to make his numbers.

So should I put £10 on Obama to win by landslide or not?

Will he have a 10% or more lead at the end though? Because if he does not have a 10% lead or more then I win shit. feck the odds have been slashed from 25/1 down to 20/1 now.

Well, I guess... If it's 10% as in 10% more than Romney from what Romney has, instead of 10% out of the total. He did it last time around, if it's the first one. It's not going to happen this time, though.

Yeah, it just illustrates Romney's challenge of winning. If you click on Ohio, Colorado, and Iowa for the Dems, Romney's chances are zero.

He doesn't even need Colorado and Nevada if he takes Ohio and Iowa:

That's true, but he really does need to win by more than one state to avoid endless litigation from the GOP. If they think they can reverse the election by contesting one state, they will undoubtedly try it. That said, I think Obama will win at NV, NH, and one of CO, FL, or VA.

Why you keep painting IA blue and NV red !!won't happen . NV is becoming a safe blue state, relatively speaking. To be precise, on 538 chance for Obama win in NV is 90%

As Nate tweeted earlier, Romney is not winning unless he manages to break into the WI/NV/OH combo. Those 3 will give the presidency to Obama, God willing.

Its not really 50% though is it. Something like 29% of Americans identify themselves as Republican, and out of those you'd assume not all of them are batshit crazies that lean to the far right.
