Paul Begala with the best analysis on CNN. The rest are just being cowardly - afraid to be outed as the liberal media and compensating by trying to suggest it was a draw.

Fox News is hilarious right now. They're on about Biden smiling being a nervous tick.

Paul Ryan won on STYLE? Are you kidding me??

They're jumping all over Biden blaming intelligence for Bangalore.

I bet you Ryan will come out ahead in the poll.

The line of the night has to be "oh, now you're Jack Kennedy"

That was fine. No need to make it out to be anything it isn't. Ryan came across as somewhat competent but Biden gave out assuredness and strength on the crucial questions.

What's important now is that Obama follows this up with a similarly good showing.

Certainly Biden was arrogant but Ryan was properly babbling more than once. Much of the time when he wasn't it was a combination of waffle and droning on, neither a good quality in this sort of arena i'd have thought.

I did notice that Ryan always tried to big up Romney whereas Joe was often talking about himself and his own views on things. Whether this matters or not, I don't know.

Look, I'm not saying that I believe in the reptilian conspiracy, but if anyone is, Reince is.

CBS News :

Who won?

BIDEN: 50% RYAN: 31% TIE: 19%

Edit: Instant Poll of Undecideds

CNN poll of undecideds (not their main one, just a few people watching) tied, those who think Biden won talking about facts, those who said Ryan won talking about Biden interrupting.

The trouble with Ryan is he is too technical for the average voter. Biden can make his point and then relate it via an example to the man on the street. Even my eyes glaze over when Ryan throws out stats and acronyms.

If Biden made any mistakes, he was a bit too loose with his emotions. Other than that, he hit Ryan and Romney quite hard, and performed much better than Obama did against Romney. If Obama does what Biden did in the next two debates, he will win.

I couldn't watch. Did Ryan win?

no he got his ass handed to him. He literally couldn't make a point without Biden tearing it apart and parking a turd on it.

Casing point when Ryan tried to make it sound like withdrawing US troops meant that the troops had more work to do, then Biden reminded him forcefully that the Afghans are taking over the work so less troops are needed and made him look like an amateur.

Everyone will focus on whether or not Biden was acting like a jackass, but on substance there was one clear winner by a fecking mile and anyone who can't see it needs to have their heads examined.

Both guys will have made their base happy. Biden got the ball back from the repubs, Obama has to now take it and score.

This debate was too full of facts!

CNN/ORC post-#VPdebate poll (registered voters): Ryan 48%, Biden 44% (MOE: +/-5%). #CNNdebate

...thoughts?

My thoughts are that a lot of the American people care more about shit like smiles and interruptions than about the substance.

and now I understand how the US elected Bush twice.

Stupid people voting, not understanding anything about the substance getting bullshitted to and getting distracted by Biden's teeth or Gore's sigh.

He couldn't speak without Biden interrupting because he kept on fecking lying.

At least CNN managed to finally properly fact-check the whole "$5tn" tax thing.

Ryan spelling out the Repubs position on abortion should help shore up the female vote as well.

I am stunned, literally stunned by the pro-Ryan newscasting. Even his closing statement, the one and only thing he wasn't able to be called on, and could speil off pre-prepared, was awful and cringeworthy and creepy and STILL essentially said nothing of any importance.

America, sorts yourselves the feck out.
