Gotta be just more than idiots, probably has as much to do with contempt for "normal"
However they may want to try and dress it up; any person voting for Boebert is an idiot.

In my book anyone voting for any MAGA candidate is more than an idiotHowever they may want to try and dress it up; any person voting for Boebert is an idiot.
MTG is not, she’s so far up McCarthy’s ass the G should be a B.Why are MGT and Gaetz opposing McCarthy (and Trump)?

They are fascists.
For sure, but what’s their aim with this play?
right, Boebert of course.

Like how and why did it go from Jim Jordan to this Donalds guy
I don't understand the game
Mccarthy just eating those Ls.
That could be an interesting proposition.I think the winning combination for speaker may be to nominate Scalise but provide the same promises that McCarthy made. Its obvious they will never vote for McCarthy because they genuinely don't like him.
if they don't get a Speaker elected there won't be a fight, nothing happens until then - literally nothingImagine the fight that will ensue over raising the debt ceiling. They can't even get speaker elected.
Now that's a good question. Personally, they're set to make big power grabs in terms of committees and general influence. McCarthy has already conceded a lot. Ideologically... well, the same. They're also making a name for themselves, putting themselves at the centre of events. It seems hard for them to lose. If McCarthy wins, it's because he basically caved to their demands. If a more extreme candidate wins, that's obviously good for them. If enough Republicans become embarrassed enough to support a democrat, then that's a lot of ammunition for them to use. They don't care about the well-being of the Republican Party, which is why I'm enjoying this so much.
I'm assuming.
They are more accurately a motley crew of for profit grifters (Boebert/Gaetz et al) who fundraise by being provocative coupled with ultra conservative ideologues (like Gosart/Biggs etc) who legitimately believe in the right wing cause.
It will be interesting to see what Trump says next, he's told them at least twice publicly to vote for McCarthy and they haven't paid any attention, in Republican circles that usually provokes somethingThanks, both of you. I suppose it makes sense for them to take that position and then just obstruct until they get their will. Whatever it may be.
Raoul, when you say “for profit grifters”, do you mean that they profit privately through donations or is it their campaigns?

Genuine question: what's the incentive for Dems to support any Republican speaker? The longer this goes on the worse it looks for Republicans. If Republicans can't sort it out, maybe a handful of them would be willing to support a Democrat.
What’s to stop them ignoring those deals after elected?A pre-negotiated deal to exclude the likes of Gym Jordan and other pro-investigate the Dems agitators from getting committee lead positions in the next Congress. A Dem friendly Republican would be far preferable to someone who allows the Freedom Caucus to railroad them into right wing positions on everything.

ThanksI'm sure the Dems can find a way to codify it into a procedure or written agreement that can't be broken.
