He said that the altercation happened after a UB40 concert on Sept. 25, when he and a group of people went to Demery’s and were drinking pints. At one point, they were sitting near a man who, they thought, resembled Ali Campbell, the lead singer of UB40.

“We’re trying to figure out if it’s him,” he said.

When the man noticed Mr. Ludington, Mr. Kavanaugh and the others looking at him, he objected and told them to stop it, adding an expletive, Mr. Ludington said.

Mr. Kavanaugh cursed, he said, and then “threw his beer at the guy.”

“The guy swung at Brett,” Mr. Ludington continued. At that point, Mr. Dudley “took his beer and smashed it into the head of the guy, who by now had Brett in an embrace. I then tried to pull Chris back, and a bunch of other guys tried to pull the other guy back. I don’t know what Brett was doing in the melee, but there was blood, there was glass, there was beer and there was some shouting, and the police showed up.”

He needs to withdraw. This is going to get real bad, real fast. It feels like the WH might be moving towards getting him gone with minimal damage to Trump.

It's not really bizaree. He's blamed for raping a girl in a drunken state. Him saying "yeah, I drank a little too much sometimes" would make it so that the media would twist it in a way that basically implies his guilt "Well he obviously drank a lot, so that means that he raped the girl when he was in a blackout". And he would have no way to prove it isn't true. It was more than 30 years ago. That will be just enough to discredit him, regardless of whether it's the truth or not.

As for him drinking during high school/university, I mean - who didn't?
Isn’t that exactly what he DID say though?

Again there are multiple reasons why this appointment should never be made and they have little to do with whether the sexual assault allegations are true or not:

-Demeanor. The man was unable to keep his composure. Not only did he lose his cool several times and completely avoided answering questions - he also expressed unprecedented levels of partisanship in his responses. If anyone would have performed that way for a job interview we would be on the bottom of the pile afterwards.

-Lying under oath. Plenty of examples that should be easy to prove by the FBI - worst of all would be the lying about not knowing about any of these allegations when it's been stated by numerous sources now that he/they did - and tried to suppress that information.

-Statements about Presidential immunity. There are tons of other conservative judges out there that could likely sail through the confirmation process without any of the aforementioned issues but the biggest difference is that unlike Kavanaugh they are no guarantee in protecting POTUS from what has been an unprecedented look into his campaign and associates.

The guy straight up said this is a conspiracy by the left. Yes, SC judges are political nowadays but how can this guy be considered impartial when an issue comes up before court? He basically accused Clintons trying to get to Trump by framing him in this witch hunt. You expect that from a bloke living in trailer park mining coal in the appalachians, but not from a summa cum laude Harvard graduate.

This alone should be enough to not touch him with a bargepole.

People were saying that when Ford first came out, then after the second woman, then the third and then during Ford's testimony. Nothing about this is normal and he seems way too entitled to drop out. I don't see him withdrawing unless the FBI straight up prove he assaulted someone, which seems quite unlikely.

There might be other skeletons in his closet, though. Anything found will make it to the news cycle.

That already happened after the Ford allegation though. Two more women came out, one of which it doesn't even seem like the FBI are going to investigate for reasons not known to us. If anything new comes out, they'll label it as a desperate last minute attempt to delay the vote and fall back on what will probably be an inconclusive, limited FBI investigation.

The only way this doesn't go through is if he doesn't get the votes; he's in too deep to drop out now.

Why are you posting Shapiro? We're all just cab drivers, hairdressers and football forum posters, how are we supposed to follow, let alone understand, his advanced and superior thought processes?

You could try, my son. Mourinho calls for effort from everyone.

What you're saying is true, but it's overshadowed by the fact that he lied about something that was so easy to disprove. And lying to Congress is illegal. This might very well kill his nomination on its own.

The shouting down of contrary opinions (see the reaction to the posted Shapiro video) has been getting out of hand here lately which is sad to see. If someone had posted an anti-Kavanaugh video from a left-leaning source would a possible reply have been "How about you actually articulate your own opinion for once?". Obviously not.

That's part in parcel with posting on a left leaning forum where people are going to shout down right leaning opinions. The video wasn't deleted or blocked from being displayed, although it should've probably gone into the dedicated Shapiro thread.

Which isn't helpful for a healthy discussing. I watched the video and think Shapiro made some good points about the Democrats and the left in general. But I sure as hell don't want Kavanaugh confirmed to the Supreme Court. Doesn't mean I have to shout down the poster though, when all she/he did was post a video that offers another perspective.

You're right in that it isn't helpful, but you can't control people expressing their own views of Shapiro either. There is sufficient groupthink going on in the Kavanaugh situation to where people don't want to hear views that don't jive with the majority position.

I’m assuming you are talking about me, so do yourself a favour and take a look into his posting history.

He has form for using Ben Shapiro as the poster boy for his opinion, hiding behind ‘just offering an alternative’. When people took the time to dissect that midget’s bullcrap, he insulted posters here saying we are not smart enough because we are football forum poster and Shapiro has a Harvard education.

If he has engaged honestly in the conversation by offering his own opinions and backing it up with evidence, he would have been taken seriously. Otherwise, chat shit, get banged.

And tell me if the rest of that post of mine was wrong. I may actually take the time to watch that vid and break it down if it were false.

He's also insulted people's grammar (undeservedly) a couple of times instead of discussing the matter at hand.
