United set for 'busy' summer of transfers

Nothing to know. Our first priority is buying a GK, which is where Fergie will spare no expense to get the man he wants and rightfully so. Rest of the areas are still decently covered enough for us not to go wholehog for a certain player or be held to ransom.

Right but the last time Fergie had to do this he dithered like a fecking eijit and we ended up with four shit goalkeepers in five years AND Fabian Bartez. Taibi, Carroll, Howard and Bosnich were all obviously not really up to the task, but he bought them anyway as he'd been recommended them from the scouting network, presumably.

By the way, does the bit in bold mean you don't know anything? Sounds about right

Berba, Rooney, Rio were all relatively PL tested and proven and the one big money signing from abroad in Veron didnt turn out so well which says quite a lot and set a benchmark for future transfers. Fergie lately has always been keener to spend the big money on PL proven players. Again, I guess that douses your muppet fires, thats why you dont want to hear it.

I don't want to hear it because it's completely stupid.

Van Nistelrooy did, and we signed him for twenty odd million - same with Nani and Anderson in recent times - completely unproven but recommended from the scouting network.

Why does everyone think I'm saying I know for sure? Thats just my guess, how I perceive it.

Your tone

Either way, I dont mind. We already have a great squad, so if we dont sign any marquee players, I wouldnt fret and if we do, I'll be happy just as anyone else. I guess I'm out of my depth in this forum. I never come across the way I intend to around these parts.

Suggest you feck off

Jesus. Cant take well to your opinion being opposed, can you?

I'd hazard a guess and suggest its you who's being stupid and a muppet to the max. Willing to wager you havent seen Pastore play more than even 5 times. But oh no, obviously you're in the TF, a know-it-all among a ton of others on here who needs to check on his tone before repriminding others.

I wont feck off, but you're more than welcome to if you cant digest people opposing you and instead of arguing your way out of that, resort to petty insults. But I guess you suit the transfer forum right down to a t.

Anyhow, now I see the advantage of using the ignore function on here. Thank you Lance.

I've no problem with you opposing my views or anyone else's - just not when it's completely dismissive and baseless

Irony overload.

So what, did Fergie himself tell you that he was looking at Sneijder, Pastore and Buffon?

I was being dismissive because of what I think is a possibility. Big fecking deal, its a forum, full of opinions and speculations which can be right or wrong based on what we hear and read, grow up and accept them for what they are because you yourself have one. Its just a matter of how one interprets that information that is being feeded to us and people are bound to interpret it differently. Oh and FYI, so were you, being dismissive is part and parcel of forum posting. Some get it right, some dont. Unlike you, I dont have a problem in being wrong either(when proven wrong of course) with what I speculate.

Or is that not any less baseless than what you think?

Modric, de Gea, and perhaps this young player Varane would be a perfect summer. Of course Welbeck and Cleverley are returning as well. I am so excited.

It's going to be the most muppetastic transfer window since that fine summer of 2007 that brought Tevez, Anderson, Nani and Hargreaves!

I hope Fergie gets his signings in early gonna be a long summer if not. Judging by what Gill said the other day and all the talk in the papers over the last few weeks the keeper is almost tied up.

Raphael Varane, Lens defender, on #MUFC talks: 'It's a dream. I'm talking to my parents to decide what is best'

I don't care anymore if saf signed Paul dickov and robbie savage I wouldnt question him. Saf knows best.

A keeper, varane, ashley young who eventually can try to play the giggs role and who is not as good as valencia at this present time, and a top class midfielder would be excellent.Add to that cleverley, wellbeck and diouf who fergie obviously rates coming back, and bingo.Interestingly no mention of macheda who looks like hes on his bike.

It's going to be funny seeing all these top names mentioned and the disappointment when none of them arrive which is usually the case.

We wish that every Summer - deep down you know it will be a 'value' summer, but look how that panned out last time :)

If you think about it, from the 2007 crop, only Nani 100% lived up to his muppet f@ppability

And that was after two and a half seasons of criticism from some corners, including calling time on his United career.

What IMO realistically could happen.

OUT: Obertan, Diouf, VDS, Kuzcshak, Brown, Hargreaves, Scholes, Owen, De Laet, Bebe (loan), Macheda (loan)

That's quite a lot, but most of these haven't played more than 10 games this season.

IN: Cleverley, Welbeck, Varane?, goalie, midfielder.

That would leave us in a pretty good shape. Hopefully Scholes stays for another year.

According to sources close to Colonel Muppet, United are signing Peter Shilton, Maradona and Phil Neville.

I think this is the summer to spend big now, we haven't done it for a few years now and with young talent coming through I think if we make a few big signings this summer then it will probably be a good few years before we have to spend big again.

We don't have money to spend big.

We may have £100million in the bank but how often (practically every year) since the Glazers took over have they paid 'one off' bank fees? Money is needed for such a purpose...for the clubs financial security.

I think we'll spend more money than usual but I'd guess we'll make up a significant proportion of it through player sales. I'm unsure of who we have who is sellable at the moment though.

Can't be arsed atm but if I was, there'd be a He-man jizz gif underneath this quote.

Conor Devlin hasn't a hope in hell of making it into the 1st team squad. Maybe you're thinking of Ben Amos?

I actually think we're going to do something shocking this season like make two blockbuster signings as well as the likes of De Gea and Varane.

Looking at how much our wage bill has been cut now Scholes, Neville, Hargreaves and Van Der Sar have all moved on I think we have the wage budget for it.

Looking at our Midfield, which we all know is a weakness; Carrick, Anderson, Fletcher and Giggs (and Gibson).

It's pretty safe to say that this is surely going to be Giggs' last season, which will leave us 3 centre mids.

That leaves us the following options:

Combative: Fletcher
Metronome: Carrick
Terrier: Anderson

Fletcher is an option that works in the big games, breaks up play ect ect, also I believe his absence was a big part of our poor away form.

Carrick needs a partner in crime, someone with good movement and tiki-taka-tekkers (i'm coining that one). 06-08 with Scholes showed what he was capable of. He likes to sit deep, protect the back four and use his positional skills to break up play and unleash the more direct players around him.

Anderson is just crying out for that clean run of 10 or 15 games and a 40 game season. He's the only midfielder we have that can pick the ball up and charge forward. His passing is a real asset, he has great vision and is always looking for that penatrative pass.

£35m a peice on Modric and Sneijder and we'd have 5 midfielders capable of playing in various positions and various tactics.

Is it out of the question? I don't think so, I think we clearly have the finances and Ferguson clearly wants to buy quality.

SAF said "two or maybe three". De Gea, Varane and maybe Young.

Brown, Kuszczak, Obertan all likely to depart and Berbatov may also do so.

That will be our "busy summer" methinks. With contract extensions to the likes of Park and Gibson.

I doubt it, our midfield is already our weakest link and with Scholesy retiring it is even weaker, I don't see Fergie leaving it unaddressed to bring in two players who play in positions we are already stocked in.

We'll sign a midfielder now with Scholesy retiring, I'm pretty sure of that.

After a little bit unexpected decision from Scholesy, everything is possible, now.

3 targets is minimum but the fact that Cleverley and Welbeck are returning from loans can make things way easier, in the summer for Sir Alex.

I think we'll sign two. Even with Scholes in the squad we needed one.
