United or England ?

I support England since 1996 (still remember Southgate penalty miss). Am not English and still question the choice I made almost 30 yrs ago. Started to support United because it was an English club in 1999 CL final.
Currently United >>>>>>>>>>>>England.

United.

England can get fecked, never forgiven England fans for how they treated Beckham after 1998. At the time it really seemed like it was United v everyone and that's stayed with me.

Yep. The level of abuse he was mad.

Genuinely one of our finest moments as a fanbase was how we rallied behind Beckham in the first few months of that 98/99 season.

United over England.

Never really watch an England friendly or qualifying but watcht he tournament games. If and when England go out I'll think it's a bit of a shame but wouldn't ruin the night.

United ! Although I really want England to do well (I am from Malta and here many Maltese suport either England or Italy when it comes to national teams)

I do wonder if it’s just us United fans as I had another customer come in my shop today and said that he doesn’t support a club anymore and only supports England, was saying how he gets so hyped up for the tournaments and how much it hurts watching England struggle to which I said I get that with United.

United clearly.. couldn’t care less about England aslong as Southgate’s still there.

I don't know how old you are, but the anti England feeling among many United fans goes back a long way and it has nothing to do with them being crap.

For many it goes back to the shocking abuse Beckham received from Ingurland fans. He was booed at nearly every ground for months after '98. He's far from alone too. Both the Neville brothers got pelters for mistakes playing for their country, for example. Stand up if you hate Man Utd rang around many England games in the 90s as well.

Also it's the racism. The awful behaviour abroad. The disgusting xenophobic songs from the fans.

The press and media don't help either. The constant cycle of blind optimism and chest beating. Ignoring obvious shortcomings and not allowing any room for realistic appraisal, followed by scapegoating and blame when they inevitably don't win, making the whole experience of watching England really quite painful.
I agree, watching England, especially being at a match, is not enjoyable as youre always expecting something to kick off. I stopped going to England matches about 25 years ago and since then nothings really changed except for the players.

Grew up in Hulme in the 1970s most of the other families were Irish, West Indian,Scottish and a load of other nationalities United always came first with me.

United for me. Naturally I want England to win, but I think having watched decades of shite from them I just dont expect much now and can't get excited by them anymore.

Whereas beating Liverpool and winning the Cup Final against City left me buzzing.

I walked like John Wayne for a month.

United. So much so that I'm having conflicting thoughts of England's success at the Euros without our Eng players such as Rashford, Mount, Maguire, AWB, Sancho. Not sure they would be able to mentally recover if England do win the trophy without them.

United. Even if I supported a League 2 side I’d choose them too. Because so many England fans are cnuts.

United...but I'm American. I do go to watch the England games with a healthy contigent of friends who are English. Always a good time.

Being English and having seen united win multiple titles and never seen England win since I was born it has to be England. Was a point when I thought I'd never see my country win a tournament in my life and here we are in a second final. Hoping they can actually do it this time.

Maguire would.

Mount is irrelevant

The rest won’t be here because of that issue

United’s first team, youth, women, reserve teams over the English NT.

It would do good to have their egos brought down a peg if England win the euros without them.

Would not affect Maguire as much probably. He’s the most mentally strong among that lot.

Matchgoing reds have always had a complicated relationship with England. Goes back to the peak ABUism of the mid 90s and the insane reaction post France 98.

Was anyone at Leicester away in like 2002?

United end singing "Argentina". The fume from their fans was insane. Also a memorable day for sending them down and our fans doing a countdown to full time and the moment they got relegated. Great times...
