Unai Emery - Ex-Arsenal Manager

No one ever said that. No one expects us to be world beaters once Ole leaves, but at the same time he has also been a problem on his own that needs to be solved. Let's imagine that Glazers and Woodward leave, do you think the new owners will persist with Ole? The answer is clearly no. We don't have one problem. We have multiple problems, board, players, manager. Keeping a failed manager because there is a bigger problem than him in the club is somewhat a weird logic. What will we gain from that exactly in your opinion?
Sacking one and appointing a new manager is the easiest thing in the world. And it will suit Ed perfectly.
I wonder though what happens if Poch fails and I wonder too how much time will our fans give him before they turn against him. And you're right not everything can be sold, once Ole gets sacked to the greatest joy Cafe has ever seen, club will continue to be rotten to the core.

And by the same way I can also say anew board or owners will need a long time to deal with the terrible players and poor manager so it won't be an immediate fix either. Either way, we have multiple problems and Ole is one of them, imo, and each one has to be solved separately.

No surprises on this one really. Been a long time coming. Never was all that convincing from the start and its just gotten worse. Still they're doing better than us this season so what does that say about our standards?

Couldn't someone at Arsenal inform Emery last night that he's no longer wanted at the club and ask him he can collect his work at the training headquarters and inform his and the playing staff that he's no longer head coach ?
Sacking him pre-session is pretty low. Not as low as us with Moyes or LVG,mind.

Absolutely ridiculous this. He took them as they finished 6th the previous season. Ole took a side who finished 2nd the previous one.
Not a Ole fan but Ole took over a side that were tottering at 6th. Let us stop changing narratives to suit our agenda.

Arsenal are in a worse state than us, I still think they'll get worse before it gets any better for them. If they're wise, their next manager will be Benitez, anyone else is going to fully sink the ship I feel.

He took a team who finished second the previous season and were underperforming this season due to a manager meltdown. The same side went on a very good winning striker after that. The same side people were crying for a year and half it can play better football and should be challenging for the league and the manager was holding them down. Claiming Emery took Arsenal at a better state than United is the actual twisting of narrative, not the opposite. People would have laughed one year ago if someone told them Arsenal are a better state than us.

I'm on the fence so to say.

Fair enough.

Believe me when I say this, I vigorously argued for Ole to be appointed when he went on that unbelievable run at the start and to me, he earned that job, whenever it was given to him. But since then, I've seen very little, apart from 3 decent to good signings and 2 results against Chelsea, to suggest we should be sticking with him -- the way the season has been going and other extenuating circumstances such as Arsenal and Spurs making moves, Poch and Allegri being available, on balance, I think; -- Ole should be sacked as well. It's tough to say as he's obviously a United legend and a hero for many, myself included but we should absolutely take all the emotion out of it at this point.

Why do you say this? I don't think Emery had a better position. He had players unable to implement his style just like Ole did. He ignored key areas of spending like Ole and he was pretty shite.

This 'ignoring key areas' talk is nonsense.

We purchased 3 players in the areas we needed most. Striker and midfield was at the time of 4th and 5th priority. Now that the urgent areas have been addressed - people are focussing on the next areas of weakness. 5 transfers in a single window, although needed, was never going to happen.

If transfers business was a democracy - we'd most likely also have Declan Rice and Moussa Dembele. One of which now looks like a fraud and the other who is doing decent in Ligue 1, but no better than what we currently have.

Emery certainly did have a better position and can be fairly criticised for ignoring key areas of spending as well as overspending in others.

You're the one trying to rewrite history, the side Ole took over did come 2nd & it looked for a time that we would make a Champions League place, the squad Ole took over was easily a top 4 team.

We were going after Rice and fecking your other guy from Toon, Longstaff. We could have easily gotten Tielemans from Monaco who impressed whilst on loan. We chose to feck about and have this British core bullshit by the look of things.

Portuguese press have some rumors of Arsenal trying Jorge Jesus, but I really doubt it because his English is very poor.

Pochettino's English was abysmal when he joined Southampton. To the point that the geniuses at MOTD questioned how it was possible for him to carry out training sessions and get his ideas across.

We looked decent for it too. I mean, we certainly looked dead and buried when Ole took over but by late winter we looked like we'd definitely be in with a good shout -- and we'd have got it, despite our abysmal form, had we beaten relegation fodder at the end of the season. Spurs were literally trying to gift wrap it, and hand it over to us.

Fecking hell people. Does literally everything have to turn into a discussion about Ole, we have more than enough Ole threads already

Honestly i think fan pressure lead by the toxic twats at AFTV is the main reason he was sacked. Granted their form lately has been pretty horrible, but this seems pretty knee jerky to me. Ljungberg as far as i can tell has almost zero experience so that will be interesting to see

I agree Arsenal side that Emery took was not that better than what Ole had but having said our squad was also in a mess. Our squad was always overrated by our section of fans be it in Jose's time or even now. Our squad was far from stable when Jose left and there is a reason why we still lack quality in many departments even after spending so much.

Like I said I am not a fan of Ole the manager but I will not sit here and pretend that he had a very good squad. We had bunch of good individuals, that's it.

From Neymar to Welbeck

Just feels like he’s not the right guy to take them forward, 5th place finish and a sacking next year.

Wow can you believe this is the first post in the thread? He really got 5th then sacked next year. @Castia you were really reading the future were not you? :D

Then why were we 12 points behind 4th place when Ole took over.

If Redcafe was a vlog - it would be ten times worse than AFTV.

It wasn't a world beater squad but it was definitely an easily top 3 or 4 one. The current squad imo has become worse than what it was last season.

Unai Emery, Arsenal's manager is sacked and the thread is about Ole now.

We have Ole - ManUtd manager, Ole- will you sack him, Ole - 1,2,3,4 numerous threads but still everything is about Ole in every single thread.

Anyways @Arsenal fans, what kind of manager you want next, pragmatic but will get results like Allegri or young ones like Howe who sets team to attack? I don't mean Howe, someone like him who prefers to attack.

Another one bites the dust but bullet proof Ole soldiers on...
You may not rate OGS but why would he be sacked right now?! We have dramatically improved in recent weeks and are on an upward trend

Fair. I've been astounded with the abuse and vitriol he's been getting here. It's one point to think and say he's not good enough but giving him dogs abuse all the time is a big no. But that's for another thread. :) although it seems every thread nowadays is about Ole.

I can't believe I've come to the point where I'm joyous about our manager getting sacked.

A little bit of embellishment, we lost to Bournemouth and dropped points at Sheffield. We have 2 league wins of late vs Norwich and Brighton, its hardly a dramatic improvement

Oh to have proactive owners....

Unfortunately we have the worst owners in the premier league and a board who know nothing about football.

Expect to see new managers at Everton and Watford before we play them which could well affect the outcome.
