I'm all wrapped up at Uni now so I'm going to be having a really lazy day today in preparation for a long night watching it unfold (although I'll go to bed if it's looking miserable).

Had a look through social media and seen a lot of people reporting high turn outs at their polling stations. About to head out and vote before I go to work. Tories out!

I've asked my local council at least 3 times for a postal vote. Filled in the form, emailed it back, hand delivered it. Makes no difference. They don't even respond. Which means I have to vote in person. Does make me wonder how many others are missing out on a vote though because they can't get there.
Local councils have been stripped to the bare bones and are severely understaffed. Doesn't make it OK that you couldn't get your postal vote but we also have to understand why we are getting such poor services.

Postal votes are boring, I love a good jaunt to my polling station.
It's alright in summer.

Fair. Yeah, that's not very good is it?

Not wanting to be to extreme, but what the conservative party is proposing on "Brexit" is treason. Doesn't honor the 2016 independence vote and for me shouldn't be countenanced. No one voted to put the UK on the road to being an EU substate, and it doesn't "get Brexit done" in any way shape or form, an equally stupid slogan with strong and stable, remind us how that turned out

I'm a natural conservative, with left liberal leanings on quite a few things, not really sure who to vote for. My area is safe Labour but I don't want to be party to a Corbyn majority government either, just in case. So I guess either Liberal or i'll be writing in none of the above.
Fair enough, just don't give your vote to the Tories.

So how do we care for the least fortunate in society, if even those with the biggest disposable income aren't willing to contribute to it?

You do realise the tax burden has been moving from the poor to the rich for decades? They pay a higher proportion than ever before? Of course not, it doesn't fit the left wing narrative.

Free speech and all that. There was supposed to be a second inquiry into the practices that the press do in phone hacking and the disgusting stuff they did to the likes of Christopher Jefferies etc, but the Conservatives had it in their last manifesto that they'd drop it if elected and they were so it was swiftly dropped.

Paving the road for even more "objective" journalism and influencing of the general populous. USA 2.0. Those who can't swim will sink fast. The UK middle class will become fewer and regress in economical safety and numbers over time. Certain people will strive. I seem to remember there were similar elements happening in a country across the channel before a certain date in 1789...

I’ve never done a postal vote for the same reason, there is a slight charm to it but it’s fecking annoying trying to fix time to go to the polling station around a full days work. Can’t believe we don’t have the election on a weekend or a bank holiday.

Many reasons have already been mentioned but another could be a lack of trust. Remember the whole "use pen" fiasco in the Brexit referendum?
I don't actually. It did cross my mind whether a dodgy posty could make some go missing if they knew an area would vote a certain way.

What time do polling stations stay open until generally? For the first time in a long time u am voting labour, it's time to rid the rot from parliament.

I think this is ridiculous, what other developed countries do that out of interest (elections on workdays)?

Me finding your arguments ludicrous is why Labour keep losing? Interesting do to tell me more.
You want to know why you can't persuade enough people to vote to pay a small amount more in tax? Because those same people don't trust that Labour knows where to stop.

We did have it on a Saturday once

I've managed 1 of the last 3 elections. A lot of friends haven't had their forms sorted in time for this one. The postal system has long been a waste of time.

I voted at 7 this morning.

Unfortunately, in my area, even the tactical vote websites tell me not to bother, Orpington is a super safe Tory seat. But regardless, you never know.

Anyone but Boris and the Tories.

:( don't give in, you guys do a great job.

I had a migraine over the weekend because of stress, mostly caused by work. High caseloads, increasingly tougher decisions... I've woken up at nights thinking about people on my caseload and the inevitable conversations I have to have with them about transport and reducing services.

Yeah, I never understood that. The turnout would be a lot higher on a Sunday, right? It's always on Sunday in Belgium, but of course here voting is mandatory.

Haha, my friend (former boss) is the new candidate for Orpington. He's a good guy.

Won't be able to vote until about 30mins before polls close.
It's a safe Tory seat, but it's better than not voting.

I'm really sorry to hear that :( you guys do an incredible job, I hope things improve soon.

I'm hindu and keep getting forwarded WhatsApp videos about how we all need to vote Borris to save India. Its so fecking stupid and I know so many Indians are falling for it. 4-5 WhatsApp groups have forwarded it to me, and it's all groups with distant aunts and uncles

Voted. Misspelled Get Brexit Done at the top of the sheet though but I think I've made a difference.

If he is a Tory who.has agreed to support Borus that is a bit of an oxymoron.

Just the one goat and they call me ......

I'm looking forward to seeing your lot double down on the shrieking moralistic hysteria when you lose.

Yeah this is all about winning and losing. Just a big game.
