UEFA Super Cup

Nice for Kepa.

The BT camera angle for the penalties though...

Why do they have to change things. I pray Sky stick to the side on view.

Why did they stop ABBA?
No idea, it’s actually a ridiculous advantage and still isn’t talked about enough. Pundits never mention it.

Chelsea had one high pressure kick and that was after they missed the first.

Where's Tuchel vs Ole thread when you need one ?

Sadly there is no need for one.

We know Ole isn't up there with he best managers.

The hope I guess is that hopefully he can be. Probably a naïve hope but as long as he is here it's one we got to pray for.

Right now his in game management is his worst attribute which is why we are such bottlers in cups especially.

Leaving De Gea on for penalities, Leaving Fred on when the red was guaranteed, Not subbing Pogba on in the first half in that game versus Leipzig.

The list goes on. Hopefully he learnt from those.

This was just an easy example of the difference between Ole and Tuchel. Tuchel makes the right calls in big games with his subs. Ole do not and we see what huge difference it makes.

Weird.

That was a big game? I just came on here and saw the score. Had no idea it was on.

Tuchel wins that by doing what Solskjaer should have done, replacing the keeper

So, worse than our Dave then. I just made the obvious assumption that because he's quite an imposing goalie, he'd not be rubbish at pens. Fair enough.
Watch our shootout against Spurs last year and you'll see what I mean.

Like I said it's an easy mistake for oppo fans to make (I wouldn't know such detail about another club likely) but pundits and commentators paid to do their research for this to go over their head...

My stream cut out twice so I didn't see Rudiger or Mounts pens. Happy with that.

Mount's was top class, Rudiger with a straight run up with the keeper standing still watching it go to his right. Mount is quite a continental player in my view, Rudiger an erratic fighter defender, I guess the pens characterised that too.

It is mostly about being brave. Tuchel much more confident manager and Ole too scared to make an error that cost him his job.
Tuchel also does not sit on his a** for 90 mins because he can't make up his mind whom to sub in.

Not that I believe in taking this as an excuse to s**t on Ole.

Any final that goes the full 120 minutes and into penalties is the same as far as player fatigue and playing for penalties are concerned.
The mentality is clearly not the same. Rudiger treated his penalty like a friendly.

I see this place is just gonna be another shitfest all season.

Constantly taking shots at Ole. Fawning over every other manager.

Just makes it sweeter when he does well and they can't enjoy it

Villarreal could have taken penalties for a week against United and wouldn't have missed. Tonight they missed a few penalties handing the trophy to Chelsea. Just typical.

Super cup and Europa League final are not the same.

There is no good argument for having De Gea on for a penalty shootout regardless of the competition.

Especially when the keeper in the bench has an insane record at saving them.

Ole can't be defended on that decision.

All clubs do it nowadays.

I know it's been a while for your lot but you'll do it if you ever win something again. ;)

IF we had made the same decision as you we would have been in this game tonight and maybe win it too (still fuming)

Ole deserves to be called out for his terrible decision making. That PSG game where he simply refused to sub Fred and then the EL finals where he simply refused to make any subs for 90 mins, forcing an unwanted penalty shootout.

But then this is a new season. And at least I have new hopes. Hope lessons were learnt.

Stacking up these European cups now Chelsea no matter how insignificant some people see them it has to be said..

Probably win the CWC for the first time in December against Al-Ahly or whoever too.

Fully warranted shots. Not changing the keeper for that shootout is one of the most brainless manager decisions seen last season. The fecking world knew we would lose with De Gea standing (and that's all he did) between the posts.

fecking cnuts couldn’t miss one out of 11 with us and they miss two in six.

They didn't miss. They where saved

We fielded a keeper who can't save penalities. Only the management to blame.

It's not even hindsight cause everyone in the forum's was saying to sub in Henderson if to went to penalities.

Only? Didn't Bruno choose to let them go first?

I've changed my mind on this. You must all refer to Chelsea as "Super European Champions League winners".

God forbid we win the World Club cup. I'll be even more unbearable.

Ole himself knows he is not as good as Tuchel who is not a brilliant manager to begin with. We have to accept the fact that Ole is staying for many years and hope by adding more and more quality players we close the gap between our team and our rivals who have better managers. I have faith in the squad.
