UEFA Champions League Final 2013

Götze out. Subotic not fully fit. Hummels not fit. Piszcek to undergo surgery immediately after the match.
Anything can happen in 90 min of football, but I'd be very surprised indeed if they could beat Bayern.

Their close ties against Malaga and Real cost them, physically as well as mentally.

Where did you read that Subotic is not fully fit? Haven't heard about that yet (not saying you're wrong). Piszczek has had hip problems since before the winter break, didn't stop him from having great games against Ronaldo, so I doubt it will be a big factor on saturday.
Also I think pulling off an impossible win vs Malaga only helps their confidence, it should remind them that they will always have a chance to win. The Real game probably gave them some valuable experience in playing under extreme pressure.

Forza Bayern.

If they lose it, they would be the first team to lose 3 finals in a 4 year span. Bayern, Valencia, Manchester United, and Juventus have all lost 2 European finals in a timeframe of 2-3 years.

Götze also missed last's year cup final and Dortmund won 5-2 with a Lewandowski hat-trick.

I think as long as Lewandowski can play they have a realistic chance, even without Götze but they are still underdogs for the final I think, but so was Chelsea last year.

They definitely have a realistic chance, with or without Götze. They've a brilliant record against Bayern. In fact, if there is a team who can beat Bayern this season, it's Dortmund.

Just don't see Bayern losing a third final in four years.

It's Bayern's time. They will win it, finally after being so close recently.

They had a Kagawa in absolute top shape to replace him though.

I would've given them a fair shot at even strength but losing your most influential player along with 2 hobbled key defenders feels like déjà vu for me. Klopp does seem to do well against Bayern but Jupp has an extremely strong team, regardless

It was a more even match at full strength and certainly Dortmund can't be counted out but it's a decidedly big advantage for Bayern

Chelsea where comfortably outplayed in that match it was luckier than the Benfica win it was just Chelsea's destiny to win I guess.

I hate that term 'destiny to win'. It wasn't destined at all. It comes down to poor finishing etc.

Where did you read that Subotic is not fully fit?
Well he was out for 6 games earlier this season and came back somewhat hurriedly, because then Hummels was out, too. He hasn't shown much weakness since then, to be fair. But I would be surprised if he was at 100%.

Just read that 1/3rd of all goals BVB conceded all season were headers - funny, as Hummels/Subotic are generally considered to be good in the air.

They have Reus who is just as good now.

I'd take Kagawa over Reus any day of the week. Reus is a great finisher, whereas Kagawa is/was a decent finisher as well as a great playmaker.

I do not really think it matters, what team Dortmund fields.

I think it is more important in what condition Bayern plays. If they play like the recent months and leave out any blips, I do not think that Dortmund has a chance.

If they make mistakes in the back - and if Robben and Ribery do not show up it is getting difficult. In the last matches both Reus and Lewandowski were very well covered. Bayern just did not convert all of their chances.

Bayern is on a mission. If they win the CL and they win the Cup that season really gets into the history books. First German treble - the CL final rounds in special fashion - and a record breaking Bundesliga season.

I do not think any of the other teams in Europe that won trebles to now has made it in that style.

It just sucks Götze is not fit. If Dortmund can somehow just take the lead, I think that might settle a few nerves and they will start to play their natural game. I dont want a repeat of the Bernabeu game.

I would like Dortmund to win it. There team is likely to be dismantled over time, so they won't get to many more chances at winning the CL. Bayern meanwhile will always be in the running to win the CL. Realistically I'd have to say that Bayern will win the final. It should be closer than many people think though, and I have no issues seeing either team winning it this year.

With Dargonk, although I favor Dortmund in this final, I have no qualms with Bayern winning it. They have had a fantastic season and Gotze shouldn't be too down. He'll be working with his dream coach.

The main concern for Dortmund should be their incisiveness on the break. When Gotze went off at the Bernabeu, some of Dortmund's counterattacks broke down with the final ball. It was ridiculous how they were so wasteful. Grosskreutz was the main culprit there but they'll have to be very clinical and remain cool. This Bayern team is something else. If there's a gap, they will exploit it and punish you severely. I hope this will be a great final. I feel both teams will definitely create chances. Dortmund will need to take their chances because with losing Gotze, the tie has now gone from 50:50 to 60:40 in bayern's favor in my eyes.

Haven't read any news about Hummels' injury. I think he's even more important than Götze for Dortmund. If he's missing too or not 100% fit, Dortmund are in trouble, imo.

Bayern haven't scored against Dortmund in the last 3 years when Robben was playing on the right, btw. In the cup game he was playing on the left because Ribery was missing. Usually Ribery - Müller - Robben behind the striker was a disaster against Dortmund, maybe Heynckes tries something different, maybe he finds a way to make it work this time. I'm really worried we're going to miss Kroos in the final. Probably we'll see a very defensive game with few chances unless one of the teams scores early on.

How would you expect Bayern to play, Balu?

With Gotze and Hummels (probably) missing, I have a fear it would be very similar to the game against Arsenal at the emirates.

It's a remarkably refreshing and exciting final, but at the same time I can only see Bayern winning it. I prefer Dortmund (not least that Robben and Ribery are cnuts, and they as a team blew it spectacularly last season against Chelsea), but Bayern are just so strong, and they have shown an outstanding aptitude to build from a strong position. They have risen to the challenge Dortmund have set them in recent seasons, but they seem to have gone beyond that.

I find the Götze situation remarkable - that he is even a candidate to play against the team it has been announced he's moving to in the biggest game in his current club's recent history, I just find that remarkable. Just imagine what Sir Alex would've done with him in a similar situation - he wouldn't be allowed to clean the toilets never mind being near the first team.

Similar to the Juve away game, more cautious then we usually start at home. If Hummels is out, we probably press higher up the pitch. Santana might be a weak link in Dortmund's build up.

Don't think we'll see something surprising from Bayern:

Neuer - Lahm, Boateng, Dante, Alaba - Schweinsteiger, Martinez - Ribery, Müller, Robben - Mandzukic

If no one picks up an injury the next days, that will be the starting line up. Mandzukic could be the key to make that attacking trio of Ribery, Müller, Robben work against Dortmund.

If Hummels plays Mandzukic will porbably man mark him to limit their build up play so there will be more pressure on Sahin who hasn't really played on such a level at all this season and he will probably be chased by Müller all game.

Dortmunds real weakness imo is that they are not as strong over the wings as Bayern if you shut down their deep central playmakers their game will get a lot less dangerous.

I also think you will play a slightly deeper defensive line than usual because if there is one thing Dortmund is really good at it's playing through balls on players running into space like where Reus is quite deadly.

If Schmelzers bad form of the last couple of games doesn't dramatically improve in the final I can also see Robben causing a lot of trouble down that side with Lahm supporting him but it remains to be seen how willing he is to go forward and leave potential space for Reus.

It's def going to be a very interesting final and if everything goes to plan Bayern will win it but we all know that in football not everything always goes like planed.

Dortmunds dilemma is: If they apply pressure at Schweinsteiger/Martinez, possibly by playing with a triple #6 as they did before, they are forced to leave room on the wings which Rib/Alaba and Robben/Lahm will be happy to exploit. If they double-mark on the wings, there might be too much space there for Schweinsteiger to organize the play.

That being said, both teams know each other very well and their last few matches were tight affairs. It will be decided on small errors.

Anyone know a site which gives you the best OUTRIGHT odds for bayern winning it? As in, winning the cup out right, regardless of Extra time?

The best site I found had odds of 1.412 for Bayern.

I want to bet $500 on Bayern to win it outright. Just wondering if there are sites with better odds for that.

Thanks in advance.

Nah everywhere is around 1/2. If you're confident you may as well stick it on anyway. Won't get much better than that.

Think it was William hill mate. Shop around between bet victor (usually the best price) and paddy power and also bet365.
