UEFA Champions League Final 2013

Fellaini would be a good signing. We very rarely as a club buy superstars. The sooner people realise this the sooner they may actually enjoy watching us play.

Guardian website, which is usually reliable.

Yeah right!

Christ, gullible lot the muppets. Extra hilarious when they get angry at United, supposedly their club, because some journos threw some shit at the wall and wanted to see what would stick.

The Guardian is barely above bleacher. Moyes is gonna buy Fellaini tho' - it'll be his first feck up but not the last.

 Give them both a chance Peter. I expect Moyes to do fine I wouldn't Felliani for the price I would imagine he would cost.

Neither are top 4 let alone PL/CL-winning calibre.

Neither has had a chance to show that yet. I'm sure people thought AVB you can't just judge him until he has had time in the job he has never had this talent top 6 with Everton definitely translates to at least top 4 with our squad in terms of the increase in the quality of player.

Missed the match, but from the highlights it looked like a good game. Both keepers looked like they had a busy night and pulled off some good saves. Well done to bayern for winning in the end. They are going to be strong contenders again next season as well.

Sadly I think this may have been Dortmund's only chance to win the CL. They just can't keep hold of their best players and eventually they won't be able to bring in replacements. I hope the team doesn't get dismantled to much during the transfer window, as they really have been a breath of fresh air.

I think Dortmund were robbed. It was an outrageous decision that Dante was not at least yellow carded for the penalty. It probably was a straight red. One could argue that Ribery should have been sent off also. But the Dante one was absolutely outrageous. Sickening.

You forget Müller who should have been sent off for blatantly having his arm torn by Subotic in the box, and Boateng too, he obviously shoved his leg under Lewas foot to get him injured. Robbery i say!

the ref was spot on pretty much every decision...

On the pitch, Bayern was better (slightly or not...), and deserved winners.

if we start complaining, then we have to say that Dortmound didnt even deserved to be in this final... they propperly robbed Malaga out of the semifinal spot... so they are lucky as feck to played the final.

Apart from sending off Dante and Ribery. Ribery's at least he probably didn't see so it's excusable, but how Dante stayed on the pitch is beyond me. He was on a yellow and his tackle was a stonewall red card. Straight up kicked Reus in the chest, and he didn't even get a yellow for it. Apart from that (terrible) decision, he was pretty good.

Lewandowski's was a stomp yes, just like Ribery clearly elbowed him. Both were excusable though as you needed replays to see it whereas the ref doesn't have that luxury. Dante staying on the pitch was an awful decision. Muller's wasn't ever a penalty, just because he steps in the box doesn't mean that he can't touch him. Muller was looking for it and dived to try and get a pen.

Edit: Actually thinking about it, the ref had 4 big decisions. He got one right (awarding the pen) but then bottled it when he should have sent off Dante. He didn't see neither Ribery's elbow nor Lewandowski's stamp, and both should have gone off. So one was right, two he didn't see and one was just terrible. You can hardly say he had a good game.

There's not a competent ref on the planet who would have given that as a straight red.

While Subotic did pull at him, I do wonder why Muller didn't feel the contact until after he'd bizarrely passed and overhit it. I also wonder why when there was clear contact that he felt the need to throw himself to the ground (like he always does).

Dortmund are flavour of the month currently Bayern definitely deserved the match if Robben but his good chances away they would have had 3 or 4. Dortmund didn't have eough quality in the final third.

You don't think Dante's tackle was a straight red?

About 15 seconds in. Ball is past him already and he kicks Reus in the stomach. Why on earth would his foot be that high? Clear red all day long. You can say he didn't intend to hurt Reus or whatever, or Dante seems like a good guy but that doesn't matter at all, it was a dangerous tackle that should have been a straight red.

Dortmund had quite a few chances of their own at the start of the game as well. They could have had 3 as well as Bayern. Bayern only started to play better in the last 15 minutes when Dortmund really tired and got very sloppy.
And by flavour of the month, do you mean the last 2 years?

Yeah, Dortmund were definitely the better team in the first half-hour and generally in the first half IIRC. They really should have scored at least once with the early chances, especially the one at the near post which fell to Grosskreutz was it? I really think it's been a bit overlooked that there is no way in hell Bayern should have finished with 11 men.

Think it was Kuba. But yeah, they dominated the opening half hour. Bayern could hardly complete 3 passes in a row at the very start. They were lucky to get to half time level, but in the second half Bayern were better, which evened it out overall but the final 15 minutes you just knew Bayern would have scored.

Who knows what would have happened in the last 15 if Dante was sent off like he should have been, but oh well. Can't do anything about it. Bayern were hard done by a few times in the past few years and Dortmund were lucky to make it past Malaga (although it was deserved), so there can't be too many complaints.

I was pretty drunk but it seemed to me Bayern recovered from a poor opening 20/30 minutes (where they defended well under pressure) and created 3 or 4 chances in the first half, Robben had a 1 on 1 with the keeper, Mandzukic and Martinez missed free headers.

All true. I think at half time Bayern already had as many great chances as Dortmund had in the beginning.

It is quite funny how everyone moans about divers and players going down too easily, yet when a player tries to continue to play, it doesn't seem to be right either. Subotics pulling his arm gave him a rotation which clearly affected the passing.
I know it usually is handled that way, but there is nothing in the rules that say a foul is only given when the player goes down. Maybe if Refs minded this more, there would be less blatant falling down by players.
Overall, i think the ref did a good job apart from not seeing Lewas foul. He *saw* all the other situations in question and decided Riberys lash was a try to get free from Lewa (it wasn't only, but how many replays did you need to judge?), and he decided Dantes offense was a mistimed challenge, not a try to bring the player down.

Most of Dortmunds chances were shots from a distance which required solid goalkeeping, but no miracle saves. The only really good one i remember was Kubas attempt in min 13, which Neuer cleared with his left foot. Similar could be said about Weidenfellers saves, his best one was denying Mandzukics header, the rest were showjumps...

Bases on just the final, or being part of a treble year?

Someone from Bayern probably deserves it

We haven't won the treble yet, ffs. People really should stop saying that. We probably loose the cup final now and everybody starts laughing at Bayern for fecking up the treble instead of praising the team for winning the double of CL and league.

Seriously, whoever thought it's a great idea to play the cup final after the CL final, should be shot. It's crazy that the team can't celebrate for days because they have to play another game.

He worked his ass off in the final, as he did all year long. Also, he created both goals. Overall, he had a brilliant season. He would deserve it.

Kroos' injury hurt Ribery's position, imo. He had to work more than before and help out in midfield quite a lot because Robben plays way more advanced. Ribery would have created way more in the final third if Robben stayed on the bench. It's a bit unfair because that won't be appreciated as much as it should.

I wouldn't be surprised if Robben is the highest placed Bayern player at the Ballon D'or because of his contribution against Juve, Barca and in the final, even though it's not deserved when we look at the whole season.
