UEFA Champions League 18/19 Matchday 5 fixtures (27th - 28th November 2018)

Mané dived but it’s also the first time I’ve ever seen the bellend officials behind the goal actually signal for a penalty that the referee wasn’t awarding.

I fecking can’t stand these Scouse pricks. Jammiest bastards imaginable.

I call that bet and raise with United last night.

It was a dive. The referee has been allowing Liverpool to hack PSG players without barely doing anything all half.

Milner alone committed at least 3 yellow card offences.

You can't call something like this a dive.

Nearly every player has to do this for his own protection.
Look what Di Maria is doing there - one hit and he breaks something from Mane.

So if things stay as they are; Pool have to beat Napoli 2-0 or if Napoli score at Anfield at least by 1 goal?

Doesn't make a corner the right decision. Realistically, with a brainless tackle like that you have to give a penalty

Well in this case you're right, it should've been a goal kick.

I wouldn't have problem with this penalty if Mane didn't dive before there was any contact. Brainless and idiotic as it was, mind.

Just seen the replay of the 1st goal. what was "best defender in the world" VVD doing? He put it on plate for bernat

Problem is unless you’re playing a high intensity game throwing numbers forward then this midfield works, otherwise no. If you’re going to play like we have this season we need midfielders with actual ball retention skills under pressure and ability to play through the lines.

We’re playing the wrong tactics and personnel in there.

Di Maria is daft, but this is a dive to me feck that. If Mane tries to avoid the tackle and is tripped, fine, stone wall penalty, but he very clearly falls before the contact, dive, yellow card, feck off with this endless diving in football.

Watching Barcelona tonight mkes my blood boil too, bunch of sissy cnuts.

What on earth. Di Maria was so close to breaking something that Mane had to force contact

The only thing Di Maria was breaking with that tackle was the pitch, he absolutely pelted the pitch with that tackle.

Neymar on his day is majestic. My favorite player to watch in world football for quite a few years now.

I tend to agree with this though I wished he did it in the World Cup

If we draw I'm assuming a draw between us and Napoli would put PSG out?

Only seeing that Verrati tackle. That ref should be sacked for not red-carding that. Leg-breaker that.

Completely irrelevant really, it was a clear dive as he fell without contact. If Mane ran towards Di Maria and fell after contact it wouldnt have been a dive.
I doubt you'd have the same opinion if it were a United player.

Edit - Owen reckons it's a red card too, which is definitely OTT

Penalty all day long. Stupid by DiMaria

PSG losing their composure a bit going into the break

We'll have to disagree. I 'm looking at it again, Mane just went down before any contact after firmly stepping on the ground with his foot. Yellow card for Mane. Not even a corner.

Mane could have kept his run and it would still be a penalty. He went straight through him and saw none of the ball. Always a penalty

Di Maria's idiotic tackle was in his path so would have taken him out a fraction of a second later anyway. In those instances, I'd say it's probably better that the player doesn't intentionally have to kick the tackling player with full force and break his leg just to emphasise contact.

Can you please refrain from using logic here

It was a shocking dive mate.

It's a dive and if it's a dive there no foul in this cause Mane made a contact with ADMs leg.

Is there a place in the world that doesn’t lick Liverpool’s arse? There’s yanks calling him ‘super James Milner’ on whatever this BR Football is ffs

Then Di Maria blocked the route from Mane and he was nowhere close the ball.
A pen in all cases.

Watched it again, well tbh stonewall penalty. Di Maria knocked Mane leg and didn't touch the ball. Of course we can say Mane was planning to throw himself earlier but there was a clear contact and without the ball. If Di Maria didn't touch him and let him fall on his own, it would have been a legitimate dive, but as it stands, clear pen.

Yet the worst mistake of the half came against Liverpool by not sending Verratti off for that tackle.

He'd have taken out Mane regardless I think. Weird decision by Mane to go down a bit early, but I do think it's a penalty.

You're wrong. Mane was well within his rights to run into Di Maria and get an easy pen, instead he fell to the floor before he was even close to Di Maria and touched Di Maria far too late.

Then Di Maria blocked the route from Mane and he was nowhere close the ball.
A pen in all cases.

Except that part where Mane fell over spontaneously and brushed Di maria's shin when he was half way to the ground. Di Maria didn't block anything because Mane was already falling before he got a chance to make a block.

I don't think he would. It's clear that Mane is looking for a contact. ADM exposed himself but he just slided, Mane was slightly beside him and I don't think he would have taken him down
