UCL Round of 16 - First Legs - Feb 18 - 26

That must have been a humbling experience. The two Spaniards Silva and Negredo tried to engineer something but it never materialised.

Barca barely got out of second gear and strolled it. Red card obviously had an impact but Barca's play before and after was similar but the breakthrough was naturally easier thanks to Demichellis' red which was fully deserved.

Back down to earth I hope.

I don't mind the bias too much, like you say it's to be expected. One thing I hate with commentators like Townsend is the sheer number of cliches they repeat game after game after game. He never says anything that makes you think 'ah yeah, I never thought about it like that'. You know, some insight from a former pro that you'd expect.

It's always been like that though. I remember Trevor Francis as one of the early co-commentators. it was horrible, it was like somebody was passing him notes that he read out about 5 minutes too late. "Oh, x starting to look comfortable now," when they were looking the exact opposite. It was just about certain they'd go a goal down about a minute later at which point he'd sound shocked and mumble about it being against the run of play. :smirk:

It wasn't an intentional handball, but I'm sure you'd know that. How do you know that such a situation would have happened if City weren't already 0:1 down?

Oh so we're talking hypotheticals instead of what actually happened? Back here on earth, my point still stands

I thought Alves was very good tonight, certainly going forward.

Silva was city's best player followed by kompany. Yaya was terrible.

Kompany saying perhaps City gave Barca too much respect, they were there for the taking. So next game City will come up full of fire, Barca however will be firing on all cylinders......and the final will be 4-0 Barca......one can certainly hope.

City you planks. Well done. That's $20 down the drain.

In other news, Zlatan looks suave and chill as feck here
$55 profit for me on this game, after 10 minutes I realised City are not in the same class.

And not the best side they've faced this season, apparently they've enjoyed even less possession against??

MASSIVE club got beaten tonight. MASSIVE. So happy.

Roy Keane looks like shitbrick, I did love his assessment of Kompanys interview though, " he's obviously very tired, he doesn't know what he's taking about" very true.

 They could've kept the ball all night & had more impressive possession stats than The Exorcist if they'd wanted.

I thought Yaya actually played well and Dani was fairly average going forward but terrible in defense. One of his worst performances of the season, IMHO

Silva is fantastic but that's not really news, he's been like this since early at Valencia. Bad timing is the only reason he isn't at Barcelona, I believe

Well they have played Bayern this season to be fair so he's not hugely wrong.

But there for the taking? Oh Vinny that's cute.

I think Bayern Munich at the Etihad were more impressive than Barca tonight.

Agreed. Barca were very cagey, albeit they showed they know how to navigate these games, given their experience. Bayern on the other hand was just total domination.

I cant deal with Bayern potentially doing the Double Treble. Come on Arsenal

By the way, you really have to wonder what on Earth was Kompany thinking when City were attempting the offside-trap on Messi. Kind've makes me a bit more sympathetic for Demichelis' red-card.

Yep, they showed that it was Kompany that ran back and played Messi onside. If he'd stayed where he was they'd have a perfect defensive line as shown.
