UCL Round of 16 - First Legs - Feb 18 - 26

An approximate feck trillion of cash spent and this is all they can muster at Europe's top table? Pellegrini will be out in the summer if they don't win the PL.

"The worst Barcelona in years"

-- didn't do anything like fire on all cylinders, hardly broke a sweat; walked it.

Game over, City.

:) :) :)

Hee hee, for all their bluster in the Premier League it shows how far behind the top teams they are. Of course, that shows how even further behind that we are, but if I can't indulge in schadenfreude now then when can I?

City shat themselves tonight at the start, gave Barca far too much respect and that's on their own turf! Wait till they step out at Camp Nou.

The PL has a long way to go to catch up.

Lucky City, that goal should've stood, no offside.

Need some La Liga watcher's opinion, did Barcelona even try today? They looked like they didn't give a feck at times tonight.

Have we ever this good? I mean we've had some great teams but has any of them been near this barca team?

I don't think so. Our best teams would give them a decent game, but I just don't think we've reached this level.

What a joke. They get by far the most help from officials in the Champions League.

I suppose a team you describe would've gotten a penalty for Clichy's handball in the 1st half? Surely the nonexistent offside call for a goal would go to a team helped so much by the officials too?

I agree, what a joke

They spend it all on forwards and midfielders. It's their defence that need sorting.

Barcelona weren't that great, they kicked into gear after the red card. For a more sobering indication of their quality, I refer you to the 7-0 drubbing they received last season.

Nothing spectacular, just a professional display from Barca. Never got off their second gear. City didn't really make them work hard. They were happy to just pass it around. Silva looked like the only player capable of really hurting them.

Robbie Savage, BBC Radio 5 live at Etihad StadiumManchester City 0-2 Barcelona
"If Manchester City win the tie in the Nou Camp, I will stop working."

Fingers crossed then!

It wasn't an intentional handball, but I'm sure you'd know that. How do you know that such a situation would have happened if City weren't already 0:1 down?
