U21 Euro Championships 2015

The state of that defending. The truth of the matter is the majority of these English players are not particularly that good and one of the few that is, is apparently worth £50m despite doing feck all all tournament and generally being overrated as hell.

Just started watching Portugal vs Sweden. Are they fixing a draw? Currently 0-0. And what happened to England? Just saw they are losing 3-0 to Italy. That isn´t bloody brilliant

He hasn't been that bad aside from not scoring a goal. He has been close on a number of occasions in the tournament and produced the best individual moment in this game.

The defensive organisation has been an absolute shambles. Every game has been the same game plan. Southgate's management has been as bad as his penalty taking. Maybe he'll get another pizza advert out of it.

We have been the better team with more chances but absolutely pathetic defending, three set piece goals, and yes, an awful midfield performance again.

Hes obvs a good player, but maybe this will calm people down a bit

Ah that makes sense. Was actually looking forward to that match but couldn´t leave work in time to watch it. The Sweden vs Portugal game has been boring according to the pundits.

If it ends like this we are going to win the group with 1-0 in goals in 3 games :nervous:

The never ending blaming of managers simply diverts away from the real issue which is player quality.

there are solid players sat on the bench but Southgate decided to pick the no hopers instead!

England are wank.

What else is new? Will we finish bottom of the group again?

surely Southgate should give a couple of the lads who havent played a run out at this point - nothing left to lose

What is up with all of your hang ups with kane?

He isn't 'worth' £50 million, that's what the papers are reporting we may value him at if someone decides to start sniffing around.

You know... The kind of thing clubs do when they don't actually want to sell?

How silly of us to place a high value on a young English striker from our own acadwny academy who's just had a 30+ goal season, 21 of them in the league.

This is what, his 64th game this season, in his first truly full season in the top flight?

Not convinced with him either. Well it´s 1-0 for Portugal Gonçalo Paciência

That is stupid. Why win? It would be better to eliminate the italians  Let Sweden score a last min goal

1 goal scored in the tournament, that is poor!

Wilshere, Ox, Sterling, Barkley and Jones should all be at this tournament. Its an utter joke and piss take that they decide to swan it up on holiday instead of gaining valuable experience of performing in a knock out tournament, under a different type of pressure whilst actually (more likely) winning these games and possibly the tournament which would only serve us better in major tournaments, breeding success and a winning mentality. fecking disgrace. Ox i can forgive for being injured all season but if he is over that injury then bloody call him up.

Which year was it that Dyke targeted for England to win the World Cup?

There's little things that you observe when you watch these games. Just the small things, but they're telling enough. They're small enough to be insignificant in and of of itself, yet indicative of something larger that's an issue.

When I watched Portugal the other day, all the players, goalkeeper included, passed the ball a few yards in front of the player they were passing to. It's such a small point to make, but you can see tactical sense in it; it's good technique because it helps maintain the tempo and movement, but whenever I watch young English players, senior or junior, there's a habit of passing directly square into the feet of the player. A small point, but it's things like that which simply shouldn't be lacking.

Frustrating because excellence is in the details! Germany, Portugal, Spain, even some of the lesser nations too. Good footballing habits and bad ones. We retain so many of the bad ones. There's definitely been an improvement, of course, however, not enough, which bears proof in that we haven't made it out the group three tournaments in succession (Euro)

There seems to be one or two good players, then the rest a downright average. Maybe it will stop people saying what great kids this country is producing.

There was an article in today´s paper with graphics showing how many minutes the players from the national teams had on top flight football and England was dead last.

The manager just has to be questioned after a result like this because there's a bunch of players who have played like they should be no where near the 11. I mean it is crazy that this Gibson guy has ended up playing all the games while Keane and Chambers have sat on the bench

Goal Sweden. I said in the last min ffs

Simon Tibbling!!!! Get in!

PS. I wrote a comment on Sweden and overcoming the odds a week ago or so, here we are again.
