Sky and The Telegraph both reported not long ago that a deal with Inter is pretty close. Can't really imagine Evra staying and the apparent desire of Van Gaal to keep Evra as a leader seems bullshit.

We wont be paying £27 million plus for Shaw to bench him and you can't bee a leader from the subs bench either. Evra has been a great servant - probably the right time to move on.

If Evra did stay, he could still leave in January and not be cup tied for his new side in European competitions. I expect him to leave this summer though.

The reliable Gianluca Di Marzio said that LVG wants to keep Evra even though Juve want him.

Journalist on MUTV: "Luke Shaw wants the Manchester United move and it's close to being completed." #MUFC

Posted by a randomer. Any truth to this?

It was Jonathan Northcroft who was on (he's been on MUTV before, and wrote that long article putting forward Moyes' perspective after he was canned) - his understanding was Shaw had decided on United out of his numerous options. He wants a big club that will give him first-team football, which United can offer particularly in light of the doubt over Evra. So he's sold on United, and the money offered from us to Southampton is acceptable. Northcroft thinks it's quite close now.

Even if Evra stays we can play him on the left wing and he won't be half bad there. I think Moyes had that in mind when he was bidding for Coentrao and Baines all over the summer. He can still beat a defender, his crossing is likely the best in our squad over the past season and he has added a goal threat.

Do you know how reliable Nrothcroft is?

Any way you could post that article please. The only places I can find it cost money. That is if you have access to the article and its not to much trouble of course.

It was posted on here in the Moyes sacked thread by Mel, can't remember the page though.

I'm pretty sure he was close to Moyes so if there was a deal being made for Shaw he'd have a good chance of knowing something about it.

I read that article and I'm pretty sure it came from Moyes' side, so you're most likely correct.

No article - I watched the television programme 'United in Press' on MUTV, which Northcroft was on.

TBH Northcroft didn't sound like he was speaking with much direct information, rather how he understood matters were at this stage.
That's ok, thanks anyway. It would just be interesting to read an article about what happened behind the scenes when moyes was there and what his opinions were and what the players opinions were.

That is depressing as I always considered Evra to be shit at crossing (hitting the first man or shot come cross) the only cross he was good at was/is the cut back.

Yeah he can be our very own diminutive geriatric Gareth Bale.

Shaw would obviously be a long term deal, Evra a short term to help smoothen our transition a bit. no room for 3 left backs tho.

Ideal Scenario =

Evra with us for one last season, leaves on free next summer signing a deal in January while Buttner goes on loan and Shaw makes the spot his own.

Shoot me but I actually think Buttner is quite a good backup...

Oh my above one was deleted by Rob Harris. Just saying the Moyes pay out is "single digit million pounds".

Pictures like these would provide so much ammunition for the media to create stories and tweeting about.
I have a feeling Woody is making sure there was enough advertising interest when the Announcement is finally out. He's a money man who would use every opportunity to make some pennies for the club. :)

Evra's never had a good cross. His main attributes were his pace and stamina, which basically meant he covered loads of ground and could get to the byline, but when it came to crossing he's always been pretty poor. Now that he's lost the pace and stamina his effectiveness is massively diminished.

Just blatant lies
He has a very good cross on him, it's pretty much a prerequisite to being a fullback these days. He may not be the most efficient at crossing lately but to say he's never had a good cross is just wrong.

It's never remotely been a strength of his game - not just recently but throughout his time here. It isn't a prerequisite because he was brilliant at overlapping, reaching the byline and smacking it in, but he's never been a particularly good genuine crosser.

I disagree. It's definitely a strength of his and he tries to pick people out rather than just whip it in anywhere. Isn't he the defender who has created the most goalscoring chances this season in the league? And that's despite us being so shit.

No it isn't. It's true, his crossing has always been poor which is why he's only ever managed 3 or 4 assists per season at most even when he spent his early days relentlessly pushing forward.

I made a thread about it in the newbs back in 2010 and everyone was pretty unanimous about it even then.

He's always been a good attacking fullback, with good positioning, able to support his winger and cover him, his linkup play was always exemplary but his crossing has always been downright terrible.

I think you're massively underrating his crossing. I'm not saying he sets the world on fire but he is an effective crosser.
Him and Januzaj have been our best crossers this season by some distance.
And I don't have any statistics to hand but IIRC Evra has an impressive assist/chance created record which is based primarily from his crosses. I remember the comparisons being all over SSN when we were heavily linked with Baines - that said for the 2012/13 season Evra and Baines both had the same amount of assists, Evra had the better cross completion rate (although he had significantly fewer crosses than Baines) and a better chance creation conversion. I'd have to look it up to be certain but I do remember basing those statistics around my reasoning for not wanting Baines at the cost we were looking to pay for him.

Again I never said he had the most effective cross on him, but to say it's terrible is wrong IMO.
Young and Valencia this year are examples of terrible crossing.
You don't get a consistent amount of assists (for a fullback) in the PL over 8 years if you're terrible at crossing.
He's not on the level of someone like Lahm, Alves, Marcelo etc but he's not terrible.

His crossing are terrible, that's the only flaw he has offensively, with France none of his crossing have found a team mate between the 5 june 2012 and the 11 october 2013, 36 crosses.
He is a poor crosser, he is not even decent. Wich is weird since he is a very good passer.

No way is anyone on twitter worse than that Indykaila creep..
Those official agent lads are fast getting there. Ronaldo looking for a home in Alderley Edge apparently

How old is Indykaila and why does he have followers?

Because there are brainless transfer muppets that tend to believe absolutely everything. Obviously they have taken his word that he's an ''agent'' as gospel and his followers are always likely to increase during transfer seasons. It's typical for the time we live in really - people believe all kinds of news without caring about the reliability of the source - as long as the news suits them.

I honestly think that Indykaila is more reliable than Tancredi. It's weird that Indykaila tweets are banned here, yet Tancredi is allowed.
Tancredi is actually a journalist who works in football media... Indykaila is a teenager sat in his basement.

I've just gone through his tweets too. For a person to think they have got 100+ transfer predictions correct, I wonder if he will mark this one down as wrong?

To be fair, he may very well be looking for a house in Manchester, doesn't mean he is moving to United though.
