It's not necessarily falling for the tweets themselves but rather who's sending out the tweet. Ogden is fairly reliable, gets things more right than wrong and if he thinks we are confident of getting Kroos this summer, you have to take it seriously.

No, we'll definitely sign a CB after losing both Vidic and Rio. We won't start the season with three injury-prone young defenders as our only options.
Kroos would be our "Ronaldo" signing of the summer. Any other player that we sign will be of lesser quality. Which is why you can eliminate all of those big names from the list.

Oh so you are going from knowing who we will or wont sign to asking me for names via a wager? I think common sense should come into play that there are two much talked about targets in Shaw and Kroos and the fact that Louis van Gaal always brings in a few players when he takes over at a club. Not to mention the fact that you said our only two transfers will be a LB and a CM when he have at least four positions of need to address not least another CB after losing two very experienced ones.

None of those players earn close to what Rooney does and only two of them have been as successful as Rooney or Mata. Secondly what makes Reus and Hummels stars but not Strootman. Neither of those are international captains and I imagine Strootmans valuation by Roma would be just as high as Dortmunds would be for those two

No way in hell Dortmund is going to allow those players to leave. The same goes for the list of Bayern players(not Kroos).

You seem to be in a state of denial to protect yourself from being a muppet.
You seem pretty sure we can get Kroos, and I agree but we need to analyze a situation like that and in turn a situation like Mata and RVP which are similar if not higher profile signings.
IF we get Kroos, we would have made a HUGE statement, we would have taken one of the most integral and best players from the Bayern set up against their best laid plans and stuck two fingers up to other clubs. If we get him which is very realistic at this stage we can pretty much lay down the gauntlet on any player apart from the Messis and Ronaldos of this world.
We would have taken a young, in-prime player from one of the worlds very best teams who have a desirable manager to work under who offer high wages.
Taking a player of say Hummels stature is always difficult, the guy bleeds Dortmund but hell know that the grass is potentially greener the same applies for Reus. Basically the market is open, no player is unattainable its a matter of money and prestige both of which we have.
Your correct, there will be a 1st, 2nd and even 3rd choice list, but like you say its not a simple matter of enquiring and if they say "no" we simply give up, no chance. We will come back with a second offer, a third, a fourth we will try everything to get the players that are 1st on that list. Once we get to silly numbers I believe we give up, but keep tabs and this window more than ever those thresholds will be higher. Where as before wed probably go to about 30m without batting an eyelid I think we will seriously look at 50-60m before we give up all hope. If I know that you can be damn sure clubs will.
When you talk in those figures, Robben, Hummels, Reus, Vidal all become very real prospects combined with recent history Mata: 37m a top top player from a rival club. RVP: 24m from a rival club. Fellaini 27m I mention him because thats an insane figure for a player of his relatively bad quality, hes worth 17m max and we simply paid up from a club that this season has been a rival.
We do not operate in the same remits of other clubs, we are in a different league to Chelsea, City we arent a stepping stone to Real, Barca, Bayern. We are the top, the same level as those clubs. We know it and so do potential players one awful season doesnt ruin a legacy or a stature. It was more to show how ridiculous some of the touted players are.. that helps my point..I don't see more than 2-3 big players top joining us, and I'd hope one is a CM, one a CB, one a LB (If Evra leaves) so perhaps Shaw, Kroos & Benatia and an unknown winger (Dutch of course)
