It was over Sneijder. Fergie told something along the lines of we offered a good deal but it was up to Sneijder to accept and the Mail ran the quotes even though Fergie didn't want that. He wanted it to say a 'source within the club' or something along those lines. Cass later apologised and sent SAF a bottle of wine and now they're BFFS.

Why is everyone surprised?

Man utd want to give a fair take for each contender for the job. They interviewed Van Gaal, but that does not mean they have to settle for that. They want to look at everyone before they come to a conclusion. Although I would like Van Gaal over everyone, I think Man utd are doing the right thing in checking all their options.

I think that tweet in itself if Bull, there is no such think a 'delay', because that implies it is inevitable, when it is not.

United are delaying his announcement until the season is over, the players have fecked off for the summer and there's no more scheduled press conferences for any awkward questions to be thrown their way.

There's no benefit to announcing it now if it's already signed and sealed.

It's the Sun, their transfer news is right up there with the Daily Star, Goal, Caught offside, and Indy 90th Mohamed minute Kebab ITK I'm 'ard Agent whoever Bruce Lee.

They better not be even thinking of talking to him anyway in my view, didn't want him last summer and certainly don't want him now.

Shouldn't the tweet be "Crap newspaper delays Van Gaal article, to try and squeeze some hype regarding Mourinho, while they still can". Its the last chance to make up terrible news pieces before the United job is filled. They did the same last year, and Moyes was always a dead cert (sadly).

Red Issue were saying something similar in their latest issue. Leaking from Mourinho's agent. Mourinho wants the United job, but Abramovich will do everything in his power to prevent it happening.

Choose to believe that if you will.

I do love waking up to a good piece of muppetry. Shaw and Kroos would do nicely.

Re: Mourinho, I highly doubt Chelsea would allow him to leave. Who else are they going to hire? Should have gone for him last summer, ship sailed long ago.

Beasley is a Chelsea supporting prick. He's just setting up a story about how "Jose snubs United that come begging for him to stay at his beloved Chelsea. Van Gaal forever to be second choice manager".

Exactly

He was the guy that said Moyes would be gone sooner rather than later back when most thought the opposite, wasn't he? Stopped clock and all that, but still. Those three alone would be an outstanding summer.

That guy, for a randomer, is about as reliable as they come apart from the few ITK journos. Fingers crossed.

He doesn't really have an in with the club I don't think. Does interviews for a radio stations so he might have spoke to some people who would know but I wouldn't take much from that.

I'm sure our interest in reus is real, we'd be idiots if we weren't, just don't think there's a chance before next summer, and even then it's a long shot. Shaw would be a great replacement long term, but with Kroos, while he's obviously a terrific player, I have a feeling loads would be underwhelmed unless we signed a mobile, box to box player to go next to him. If the plan is a midfield trio of Kroos, mata and Fellaini or Carrick, then I feel like we'll still play slow and static football.

I've got a feeling the Shaw deal is all but done and wouldn't be surprised to see him say farewell after tomorrows game with the deal being announced before the World Cup. The other 2 id say there's almost 0 chance of them happening and I hope Woodward doesn't spend all summer chasing unrealistic targets again.

Question is, would Kroos be enough in midfield?

It's clear as day that we MUST strengthen CM and LB. Shaw and Kroos would certainly help that. Reus would pretty much make our attacking force perfect, any more attacking additions would be a waste (unless we sold RVP/Rooney.) Thing is, I highly doubt our midfield would be strong enough if we only acquired Kroos. Imagine he got a bad injury and was out for a few months? Back to Carrick/Fellaini...

Aye that's what I've been thinking a lot, can see us going all out for Kroos and then thinking he'll be alright as the only addition when really we could do with 2 or 3. Don't necessarily think they all need to be world class established players but surely we can't think we're alright with just the one signing there.

Kroos plus one would be great. As mentioned above, they don't need to be world class. Preferably one with some defensive awareness and a pair of legs on them.

I'd like to see us sign Kroos, Reus, Shaw, Carvalho, take a punt on Everton Ribeiro, and sign a couple of youngsters.

That would be my dream group of players.
