This is the thing. There has to be a limit on what they'll give him as they won't want to smash their wage structure. We'll naturally place him much higher on our wage structure as he'd be much more important for us. So we probably would offer a good bit more money.

That's fair enough. But don't Bayern pay Gotze and Ribery a similar wage to RVP and Rooney? I'm sure they'd be more than willing to bump him up to that level, or near it, so as to keep not only a youth product (kinda), but also one of the best midfielders in the world.

Plus, say Bayern offer 150k/w and we offer 200k/w, I genuinely think that the opportunity cost (50k/w) of staying with Bayern would be worth it to Kroos. As it stands, we're going nowhere.

The point is, we could offer him more. That is not saying he will come here, because he won't. But that is the one thing we can offer that Bayern can't/won't.

Kroos was no chance. Have no idea why people think this will happen. When have Bayern sold top players? They would rather let him go on a free like Ballack.

This is the whole problem for them. Ribery and Gotze are the top earners, with the likes of Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Robben, Muller and Thiago earning less than that (all earning somewhere between £7m-£10m). Kroos is looking to earn somewhere in that bracket but Bayern are reluctant to offer him too much as it would mean the others (who are just as important to them if not more so) asking for more too. So there's no chance of Kroos getting wages on par with Ribery or Gotze, he just isn't worth that much to them. At United, however, there'd be far less reluctance to have him that high in the wage structure.

Bayern can offer just as much. I'd say they're in a far more salubrious financial position than United.

They still have a wage budget and when you look at how many star players they have that must be on huge money it's not difficult to image that they have to draw the line somewhere and not offering a midfielder huge money when they have so many class midfielder isn't hard to believe.

£12m according to the reports I read, which is what Ribery is on too.

That's what I have heard to which would make sense as City were apparently offering him a mega deal.

Turning the pressure on Moyes as he doesn't have another summer to wait.

Always difficult to get a player from one of the top clubs in Europe, especially a German international in his prime. I'm sure Kroos was using us as leverage and Bayern just did the same as they know we don't have time to waste.

Maybe Koke if Bayern dig heels in?
Has said he wants to stay at Atletico I believe, don't blame him either given they're a team on the up.

VDS... what a monster. Ever since his days at Ajax he was this mythical beast of a goalkeeper. Couldn't believe Fulham got him.. then was buzzing we singed him. Oh, the happy days...
